Johnaton Ross has tweeted about Grahame:

I struggle to understand the opinions of intelligent men I previously admired - Jon Ronson and Billy Bragg - that strike me as tragically ill-informed and depressingly self-aggrandising. I know you are paying a heavy price for this G, but I admire and applaud you.

Can anyone hazard a guess about the 'twee comedy scene' fella Graham was referring to yesterday?
Was it Russell Brand?? He isn't particularly twee, though, is he?

I've found that where some 'celebrities' are concerned and whose work I've respected and enjoyed; I've thought they'll definitely be on our side.
Impossible not to be.

And then they come out with the usual cult twaddle, I honestly feel really let down.
So I've realised that I just can't tell anymore. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think I'm genuinely becoming numb.

I'm confident Jonathan Ross won't back down, but who can say??

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 18/03/2020 08:14

I can't do a SS, it was in response to a tweet from Glinner talking about another celebrity mate trying to put pressure on people close to him to shut him up.
I read a bit of the aibu from the trans woman at the weekend and them saying people should be telling him to stop that he is obsessed, is this a tactic TRA's are trying here too?

That's very encouraging.

Of course now I desperately want to know which comedian has been putting pressure on Linehan to shut up!

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 18/03/2020 08:40

Good. I wonder when the cavalry will be sent in, so far it mostly seems to be sane adults with furry or anime avatars agreeing with Ross.

Korimiko · 18/03/2020 08:54

LOJ has stepped in with a wind up. Hope everyone ignores him. It’s Twitter though, so prob not.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 18/03/2020 08:55

LOJs tweet was basically "women don't speak for women, I do!"

WrathofFaeKlopp · 18/03/2020 08:57

I am pleased because Ross is critical of other men's behaviour here

^This is important.

He has a wife.
He has daughters.
He knows

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 18/03/2020 09:01

Having a wife and/or daughters doesn't seem to have helped a whole heap of other men to get it.

NymphadoraBonks · 18/03/2020 09:01

That’ll put Ricky Gervais in a sticky spot. Him and Wossy are quite matey aren’t they? RG has been pathetic on the trans thing.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 18/03/2020 09:03

Can anyone hazard a guess about the 'twee comedy scene' fella Graham was referring to yesterday?
I’m guessing Brendan O’Carroll. Based on ‘twee’ and the fact that Caitlyn Jenner has apparently filmed scenes for All Round to Mrs Brown’s.

Binterested · 18/03/2020 09:06

Yes I noticed that LOJ didn’t take on JR directly. Only via a woman. He is so so transparent.

Horseradishfemish · 18/03/2020 09:11

First Gary Lineker and now this!

Very pleased.

Helmetbymidnight · 18/03/2020 09:16

Oh I don't think Ricky Gervaise has been pathetic. Inconsistent maybe, but I think he's gender critical without a doubt.

Stewart Lee seems to think RG is 'transphobic.' Stewart Lee - who I love (waves at Stewart Lee because he's a big MN reader) is with Billy Bragg and Jon Ronson on this. I just don't get why he doesn't get it from women and girls point of view. Its like a real sticking point for a certain type of man.

Helmetbymidnight · 18/03/2020 09:17

Who is LOJ??!?!?!

Helmetbymidnight · 18/03/2020 09:17

Oh I know!

Binterested · 18/03/2020 09:17

Little Owen Jones

Helmetbymidnight · 18/03/2020 09:19

I think its especially nice of JR to support Graham and stand up for women's rights because he is slightly on probation, isn't he - his career isn't as firm as it once was.

Binterested · 18/03/2020 09:20

I would honestly be embarrassed to be as obvious in my disdain for women as him. Big important man comes out in favour of GC thinking and he can’t resist commenting but not directly to Jonathan Ross who is A MAN and therefore important so instead snipes at someone’s GIF. He never takes on men if he can help it.

It’s cringeworthy. I wonder what his relationship is like with his mother that he has ended up in this pathological condition regarding half the planet. Or maybe he’s got daddy issues. There’s something going on there that’s for sure.

NymphadoraBonks · 18/03/2020 09:21

RG has a foot firmly in both camps which makes him if not pathetic, at least pathetically cowardly.

Stewart Lee is just a twat.

RoyalCorgi · 18/03/2020 09:23

This is really good - OK, it's taken a while but it's a very firm and unequivocal message of support. I'm glad he was critical of Bragg and Ronson too.

I used to dislike Jonathan Ross (mostly because of the Andrew Sachs thing) but I've got to the stage where I judge people entirely on whether they're gender critical or not.

DoctorTwo · 18/03/2020 09:26

I don't often post here, but I read loads. Wossy's tweet is brilliant, it might make more men think about this regressive gender ideology bullshit.

sleepyhead · 18/03/2020 09:27

Jon Ronson's got a chapter in one of his books where he meets Martine Rothblatt who was spending millions to build an android version of her wife so that she would still have her around when she (the wife) died.

Not that the wife was ill or anything Hmm.

I was reading it with this weird sense of disconnect - there was no indication in the text that Martine was anything but female, but everything about it was screaming male. Even without a picture I was reading Martine as male while being told that she was female and I couldn't work out why.

Binterested · 18/03/2020 09:29

Me too. It tells me if they are a thinker or tribal.

Dsis is trying not to be gender critical because she’s very tribal (Labour Party through and through though not Corbynist). She’s getting there though. What niggled away at her was the Moral Maze episode from a few weeks ago. She was waiting to hear sensible arguments against Portillo and there weren’t any.

AnotherLass · 18/03/2020 09:31

Jon Ronson's got a chapter in one of his books where he meets Martine Rothblatt

Which one was that in? I thought I'd read all of his books but I don't remember that. I read some of them a very long time ago though

RuffleCrow · 18/03/2020 09:31

Go wossy!

I know his family quite well of old and he has some seriously fiesty women to contend with. I bet they've been bending his ear about this too.
