Will be that people understand who the truly vulnerable in society are - i.e. the elderly, sick, disabled and poor - and that some healthy bodied narcissists start to change their narrative and grow up?

I'd be tempted to have a good weep but, to be fair, tissues are in short supply just now.

You mean that someone has decided that at the moment saving lives matters more than saving face? That's so shocking....

From the Guardian liveblog just now:

"Data from Italy indicates the coronavirus fatality rate is twice as high for men across all age groups, according to Dr Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus task force response coordinator."

Sorry, can the Guardian just define what "men" means here...

Yes, I was just about to post a daily mail link: (www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8135211/More-70-coronavirus-deaths-Italy-men.html)

I would advise transwomen to inform the virus that they are actually biological women. That should do it.

I suspect we'll see a huge increase in the number of men identifying as women in the coming weeks. Better to be safe than sorry Hmm

It seems biology means something. Who'd have thought it.

Yes, and then those statistics will be reversed. Covid will be proof that it IS possible to change sex! At last, we will have the evidence and those GC pesky women can shut up!

Seriously, though, I do wonder if a TW arrives at a hospital, what sex they are registered as? I suppose if they have a GRA they will be counted among the females?

That distortion alone should give pause for thought.

I think there are still so few of them (as a proportion of the population as a whole) that they won't make all that much difference to statistics which include the whole population.

They are just disproportionately important in some particular areas, like the crime stats and the sports stuff. In the whole of real life, they matter very little.

Well one thing that this crisis proves is that biology and objective truth wins - you can't avoid it, it doesn't give a fuck how you identify, it is what it is.

It makes me think of the people who have been socially gathering over the past week or so, as if they somehow think they can stick two fingers up to the virus and defy it if they 'don't let it win', in the same way we do with terrorists!

It's not like Brexit or any politics really (including identity politics) where there are lots of options with potentially different outcomes depending on many factors. It is very much 'if we do this... Then this....and that is the only way it will go because... Biology'.

Maybe people will think on this in the coming months... Maybe not.

I think it is trans women as oppose to trans men (oestrogen v testosterone) that are more at risk of PE.
Might be useful to know the sex of a breathless patient these days.

Well, that answers a question I asked about whether transitioning increased people's risk.

Poor children! It makes me very cross that they are being brainwashed into something with this extra risk to them as well as all the rest.

"Hormone therapy"...it sounds so benign and helpful, doesn't it?

How many other "therapies" does anyone know of that actually increase risk, especially to such serious conditions?
