Did anyone hear the segment on non-binary passports on R4 PM just now? Evan Davis introduced the segment: "Christie Elan-Cane brought the case blah blah... I spoke to her earlier - " and then he realised what he'd said and literally stopped and spluttered for ages. Must try to clip it and share - it was so hilarious that DD came into the kitchen to find out what I was laughing at!

And then after they had played the convo he abjectly apologised, said how difficult it was to get right and explained that Christie E-C prefers to be referred to as "purr", at which point I laughed so hard DD came in AGAIN! (I think it may be spelt 'per' but 'purr' is cuter.

I was laughing, too. I can't count the number of times I said "Oh for fuck's sake" during that piece.

It reminded me of dealing with a tired toddler, where you end up agreeing an apple is a banana, because otherwise they're going to throw themselves on the floor and scream.

I was in my kitchen listening - it was horrifying but so funny - he really, really tied himself up in knots - I thought he was going to combust. And then when he tried to apologise and nearly fucked up again because even he couldn’t quite manage the linguistic mangling of ‘purr’. I must be a bad influence because I so very rarely listen to Radio 4 but the last time I did was when he started interviewing a lawyer about Trump and the guy had to tell him that he wasn’t interviewing who he thought he was interviewing. Got to find it again on I-Player. And the Per Person has been fighting this battle to be classed as X for 30 years? 30 years!!!

(The Piers and Nandy segment wasn't so amusing but I recommend it also if you have time to watch. So many new news stories these days, it's hard to keep up, but there's no denying it, this is definitely getting the media exposure we all once hoped for.)
