He’s got it completely and is tackling her head on about signing the trans pledge. He’s quoted Jess Philips, Karen Ingala Smith and Laura Pidcock at her. She really doesn’t understand. She doesn’t even know what she signed. And now she’s just cited suicide rates. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Cwenthrtyh I posted at the same time, will ask HQ to remove my thread as I feel it's important to keep this all on one thread.
Thanks for posting.
She's made herself look very foolish here.

Flywheel · 16/02/2020 09:58

I found it very disappointing. What she was saying was outrageous but she sounded so damn reasonable saying it.

ClosdesMouches · 16/02/2020 10:00

This is what I posted on the thread I started which I've now asked to be deleted:

Is anyone else watching this?
She's making herself look completely idiotic and tying herself in knots when Marr is challenging her about the pledge she signed.
She either DID NOT READ IT or didn't understand it.
I still believe that WPUK need to take robust action about the wording of that pledge.

Cwenthryth · 16/02/2020 10:00

Really, I don’t think she sounded reasonable at all - she wasn’t actually answering the questions she was asked, just saying placating nice-sounding things that were vaguely related. As usual no explanation of what she meant by ‘women’, ‘transphobia’ etc so impossible to decipher what she means.

OP posts:
veryboredtoday · 16/02/2020 10:03

She clearly didn't know what was in the pledges. She is shocking.

veryboredtoday · 16/02/2020 10:06

Andrew Marr was very clear in his wording so she had no wriggle room so she's basically just lied or admitted she didn't read or understand what she read.

Mockersisrightasusual · 16/02/2020 10:06

Well either she didn't bother to read it, or she read it and thought it was just fine, perhaps not understanding what it was saying.

Whatever the case, she is not fit to be left in charge of the school hamster at half-term, never mind the country.

GCAcademic · 16/02/2020 10:06

I only caught the last bit of it, but I didn't get "reasonable" from that. I saw a near-psychopathic lack of concern about women. She just couldn't care less about victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault unless they have a penis.

Theduchessstill · 16/02/2020 10:06

She sounded awful - like she hasn't read stuff properly or thought it through. She can't grasp, or can but can't deal with the fallout of it, that sometimes trans rights, especially around self ID, directly conflict with women's rights. When she chortled something like 'we can all agree we need women's rights AND trans rights' and sat there grinning it was awful.

LynnSchmob · 16/02/2020 10:07

She absolutely knew what was in the pledges and is quite clearly lying.

jeaux90 · 16/02/2020 10:10

She showed a complete lack of critical thinking. She demonstrated she hadn't actually read it. She didn't commit to single sex exemptions. She wheeled out the suicide stat. What a disappointment she turned out to be.

Cwenthryth · 16/02/2020 10:11

@PaleBlueMoonlight just posted on another thread about wishing Marr had more of a handle on things though - missed opportunities to ask her to explain what she meant by ‘transphobia’ and put her statement about wanting to remove sex-based exemptions from the Equality Act in context with the Karen Ingala Smith quote she has just agreed with/supported (kinda-ish).

I think she really needs to meet with the leadership of WPUK and LGBA. She’s making it very clear she has no idea what she is talking about or who she is talking about.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 16/02/2020 10:12

There is also a discussion running on the 'virtue signalling coast's thread. This is what I said there, minus the swearing.

Wow. Again left wishing Andrew Marr had more of a handle on the issues to actually get RLB to expose the true extent of her beliefs/lack of understanding/prejudice. One question he should have started with is "what is transphobia?" plus also linking together her statement about removing sex based rights from the Equalities Act back to her comments on Karen Ingala Smith's statement.

Mockersisrightasusual · 16/02/2020 10:12

It is at times like these that "My Becky" as he calls her needs the help of her fatherly mentor:

Stressedout10 · 16/02/2020 10:17

I can't believe that she said that she would remove women's legal rights to single sex spaces and that it was not against women rights and that trans rights are more important than women rights/safety

xxyzz · 16/02/2020 10:17

"What a disappointment she turned out to be."

Er...not to anyone who's paid attention to her prominent role in enabling and encouraging Labour anti-Semitism.

She either lacks morals or intelligence or both. She is basically interested in one thing only - her own career advancement - and will toe whatever insane and outrageous line she thinks she needs to tread to get the votes (for her leadership bid, not for the party, obviously).

Astonished that anyone is surprised at her stance on this - it is exactly of a piece with her behaviour to date on everything else. Of course she has no interest in women's rights - unless she thinks they can be turned into votes from the far left woke crowd for herself.

Tootsweets23 · 16/02/2020 10:17

Posted this a few weeks ago, but Private Eye really nailed RLB's emptiness.

She committed to making it impossible to exclude transwomen with a GRC from any women's service or space (at the moment there is limited - albeit legally unclear - ability to do so) . She also committed to self ID as the mechanism for getting a GRC. So she is basically saying that she actually doesn't think th critically vulnerable women in KIS's statement should be allowed to have a single sex space, let alone the rest of us.

Artesia · 16/02/2020 10:20

Am so disappointed- Andrew Marr had it all teed up, but then pulled his punches and didn’t ask the strong follow up questions on self identification and what it would really mean in practice

PaleBlueMoonlight · 16/02/2020 10:27

Artesia Quite.

Mockersisrightasusual · 16/02/2020 10:32

I think Marr gives them the rope and is content to see them garrote themselves.

Imnobody4 · 16/02/2020 10:34

Women's feelings of terror and fear following abuse, violence, psychological torture etc , understandable but only feelings so not important. Transwomen feelings are so deep, painful they're in constant agony every move they make and must be given whatever they ask. It's only fair any reasonable person who isn't a transphobic bigot would agree.
Have I got that right.

KimikosDreamHouse · 16/02/2020 10:36

Er , yes even if she whole heartedly adopted your (general your) way of thinking on this one matter she would still be a deranged Marxist.

AnneShirleyBlythe · 16/02/2020 10:37

She was awful wasn't she. Smugly denying any conflict between women s right and trans rights and happy to give away womens right to single sex exemptionsto appease a minority. She's a disgrace 😩

PaleBlueMoonlight · 16/02/2020 10:40

Imnobody Yes, that is right.
