MrsSnippyPants · 14/02/2020 08:58

I shall be glued to social media this morning and thought it might be useful to have a place where we can post updates as they come in so people need to follow just one thread.
Please post Twitter handles of anyone providing live updates as you find them.
@WeAreFairCop are saying it is likely the judgement will NOT be read out so they hope to get a copy and summarise and tweet after 10.30am

Harry taking issue with the introduction...

Evan being defensive.

R0wantrees · 14/02/2020 17:07

I guess Evan Davis likes to sit comfortably in the BBC progressive camp.

Yes there's history.

nauticant · 14/02/2020 17:08

Evan Davis being very very weasel-y over his use of "anti-trans" to discredit Harry Miller.

This is just a series of gotchas from Evan Davis. This is a disgrace.

Tombakersscarf · 14/02/2020 17:08

My jaw is like this at radio 4 just now! Shock
"The listener would benefit to know that is reasonable to call them anti-trans"
Presenter commenting on Harry's tweets

catsnoozing · 14/02/2020 17:09

I rather wish Evan would let him answer.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/02/2020 17:10

Eeek

Pretty fierce!

Evan keeps talking over him...

9years · 14/02/2020 17:10

After the Langcleg debacle I’m a bit concerned that RO has now been
targeted.

Mumsnet have stated that they only delete following reports haven’t they?

FreezerBird · 14/02/2020 17:10

Evan Davis is being appalling on this! (I can't believe I'm shocked...)

nauticant · 14/02/2020 17:10

Evan Davis is calling Harry Miller weird and obsessive. I'm gobsmacked.

catsnoozing · 14/02/2020 17:10

Harry's giving as good as he's getting Grin

Tombakersscarf · 14/02/2020 17:11

This guy Is unbelievable.
He won't let Harry speak and I'm impressed with how unflappable he is

Tombakersscarf · 14/02/2020 17:12

Evan Davis is not acting like an interviewer/presenter he is completely one sided

LynnSchmob · 14/02/2020 17:12

Evan Davies behaving in a shockingly unprofessional manner. The BBC can’t keep identifying as impartial as it really isn’t.

catsnoozing · 14/02/2020 17:13

Now DC Tiffany Lane (I think), having been interviewed earlier. Re police view.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/02/2020 17:14

"Is it up to the victim to self declare the hate..."

Good question.

FreezerBird · 14/02/2020 17:15

How do we complain about Evan Davis on this? I'm honestly appalled.

R0wantrees · 14/02/2020 17:18

Thats inevitable sadly.

I had a post reported (successfully) on the first day back. It was clarifying what 'the grey rock technique' was for people referring to it who seemed to be unaware.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/02/2020 17:18

Just reflecting on how both Glinner and Harry have been treated over this actually, similarities.

Evans opinion was that it was hate. Harry pointed out it wasn't as confirmed by law.

I hope that's not the case 9years.

Tombakersscarf · 14/02/2020 17:18

I would have a completely different view of the case if I'd just heard that "interview"
Have turned radio 4 off now (and for the foreseeable)

R0wantrees · 14/02/2020 17:20

There might be some relevent info here:

nettie434 · 14/02/2020 17:20

Just heard the interview too. I think Harry was unflappable - despite the way he was interviewed. It might make listeners decide they will check for themselves. To be fair, Evan Davies has now asked a police officer about prioritising hate speech over investigating violent crime but he certainly did not come across as a neutral interviewer.

nauticant · 14/02/2020 17:21

For some brief guidance FreezerBird try this:

ThePurported · 14/02/2020 17:24

It's blatantly obvious. R0wan didn't speculate, previous posters did but they haven't been deleted.

R0wantrees · 14/02/2020 17:25

Evan Davies
"The Patriarchy
Sweet ReasonSeries 1

For some, the word "patriarchy" usefully describes our social and economic system with its manifest gender imbalances in wealth and power. For others, it is trendy, pretentious nonsense. In this programme we ask whether patriarchy helps or hinders our understanding of relations between men and women in the modern world."

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0b9z645

(You can skip forward to 24:00 for Davies' opinions about the patriarchy)

Floisme · 14/02/2020 17:26

In some ways we probably didn't help with all our cheering R0 - it must have drawn attention to you, but it was so lovely to see you again! Go carefully.
