Seen in Newcastle today.

You can even get a 'cute' biscuit to dunk in your vat of coffee.

I guess a and b

Aesopfable · 14/02/2020 15:04

They must be mixing their mythology. If they identify as sirens that would explain their fears of ‘millions of trans deaths’ from people resisting their call of TWAW.

xxyzz · 14/02/2020 15:50

I spotted this in a Starbucks and went to tell the barista I would not be buying anything else there due to Mermaids' misogyny.

She was keen to tell me you had to buy a specific biscuit to donate money to Mermaids, and just buying say a coffee wouldn't result in an unintentional donation.

I told her I wouldn't be going in again while the promotion was running and to pass on my complaint to head office.

Something in her manner when I complained made me suspect I wasn't the first complaint she'd had on the subject. Not her fault, of course.

Good to give feedback.

Mockersisrightasusual · 14/02/2020 16:04

Have the bastards paid thier tax yet on their overpriced mud?

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 14/02/2020 16:59

Surely it should be merpeople, not mermaids.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/02/2020 17:01

No, because that would upset the seals.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 14/02/2020 17:55

Let’s not forget the Little Mermaid loses her voice

  • it doesn’t end well in the actual (non Disney) story
vaginafetishist · 14/02/2020 17:58

I loved the podcast and the 'No no NO' that we have all been saying on here, along with the disbelief that more people aren't saying NO.

vaginafetishist · 14/02/2020 17:58

Delingpole a massive twat though.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/02/2020 17:58

Who?

vaginafetishist · 14/02/2020 18:13

The host of the podcast, James Delingpole.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/02/2020 18:16

Oh I see (page 1). Thank you!

And in other corporate nonsense... the store that proudly crows ‘rare books by women’ on its sign outside. (Yes they mean that too... so they are showing their bias). In Soho.

Bookshop makes donation to trans charity every time it sells JK Rowling book after author accused of 'transphobia'
‘A small amount, but we look forward to more opportunities to contribute to this vital organisation,’ says The Second Shelf bookshop JK Rowling attends the UK Premiere of "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald" (Getty) A bookshop in London has announced it will donate to Mermaids, a charity that supports transgender young people, every time it sells a book by JK Rowling. On 12 February, The Second Shelf tweeted saying: "Making a donation to @Mermaids_Gender every time we sell JK Rowling."

When I attended university in the town I now live, there used to be a specialist Feminist bookstore. Admittedly it closed down and became something else for a while, but now - ironically - it's been transformed into a Starbucks Sad

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 15/02/2020 00:53

She was keen to tell me you had to buy a specific biscuit to donate money to Mermaids, and just buying say a coffee wouldn't result in an unintentional donation

See, what she said there makes sense if you think about it - it's the biscuits that money donate a percentage too.
She's not wrong, just ordering a coffee or whatever won't, your money will go nowhere near if you don't agree.
Like shopping in Next with a British Heart Foundation pin badge to buy (completely random I know)
but relevant - I know someone who does not agree AT ALL with charities that the Government should be paying towards, not us, should never be a charity so won't donate whether it cancer or heart foundation etc)
Fine, don't support the shop, don't put in the charity box. Up to you. Not putting in the charity box the same as not buying a biscuit.

Wotcha your friend has very unusual views. Most people wouldn’t want a campaign to castrate children cookie if it was accurately described.

refusetobeasheep · 17/02/2020 20:19

Yes, good to see mermaids called controversial

LouHotel · 18/02/2020 10:53

I'm being trolled by Facebook as it keeps putting the advert in my news feed.

BitOfFun · 18/02/2020 11:03

I'd prefer it if Starbucks paid its taxes before it pretended it was socially progressive in any way.

GeordieTerf · 18/02/2020 11:41

That Daily Mail article is very good. It's definitely written by someone gender critical!

BovaryX · 18/02/2020 12:39

At a time when the mainstream media thinks discussion is a three minute ding dong between two illiterate people both of whom are being misrepresented and are misrepresenting each other

That podcast is great. Douglas Murray is always interesting to listen to, he is a champion of freedom of speech

BovaryX · 18/02/2020 12:52

everybody who orders a cookie while being an adult should be taken aside and then taken away

Grin
