I've never watched Father Ted or any other Glinner show except Black Books, which I binge watched several years ago when a German friend recommended it. (I don't have TV so only watch stuff on Youtube or Netflix or Amazon Prime).
Lamahaha, I’m working on the same thing. Trying to suss out gender critical agents, or whether to apply for those I want without knowing is my next dilemma.
Anyoldspartabix, good luck. It's really hard to know who is who, and who you can out yourself to. I think agents and publishers these days would be afraid of the TRA backlash. Better to slink in silently, as I did.
I hang out on a couple of author sites but nobody, NOBODY, has spoken out on the topic. Generally political stuff is avoided. Such a pity, because writers are the ones with public voices. See what JKR did. But few of us have her clout.
I was truly disappointed the other day. On an author FB group, one female member a new member at that "came out" by saying her partner has come out as a transwoman and how supportive she is and how supportive their family is and what a wonderful new journey this is and bla bla bla.
I was like, meh, let's see how you feel in a few years time. But said nothing.
But you should just see the authors lining up to congratulate her on her bravery and stunningness and declaring how much they support her and how open they are and everything. One person, whom I had suspected might be GC because she follows Glinner on Twitter, was among those falling over herself to be supportive.
I was wondering if, by saying nothing when everyone else was being so incredibly kind and supportive, I had outed myself by the process of elimination.
The writing world is a rough and tough one and very clannish. People who say the wrong thing get horrific pile-ons, especially if they are writing YA (I'm not thankfully).
The internet forum for writers I used to post on for many years is woker than the wokest and some of the nicest people there are the worst bullies, really horrible and vindictive and full of bullshit.
But Glinner is the best. I loved Black Books. And I am in Ireland so maybe one day...
