'The first parent to face prosecution after withdrawing his child from a school because it offers LGBT lessons says he is willing to go to jail.'

Jesus

Ok

This is how it's going to go isn't it? Well they better start building some new prisons, ideally with family units and internal schools.

Doyoumind · 01/02/2020 19:52

I could only read the first paragraph. Do you have a share token?

Is he ok with same sex relationship teaching and only wants to avoid the trans messaging?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 01/02/2020 19:58

Sorry, no share token. The article says he's concerned by a 'salesman-like approach to transgender identity'

Hussain, who is Muslim, said he was “deeply concerned” for his son’s psychological welfare and did not want Amin to be taught “things that go against my religion”. He has now instructed lawyers to launch a judicial review against the city council’s decision. “The school teaches that some children are born in the wrong body,” said Hussain.

“This can cause confusion. If my son gets confused about this and about his own body, he might think he is a girl. The school thinks this is OK and has to be accepted, even though transgender can mean medical treatment and surgery which could damage my son mentally and physically for life.”

”Jay Hussain, a parent, addressed the congregation gathered at the school's doors telling them 'it's against our Islam.'”

”He told ITV News Central: "Do not ask us or our children at that age to accept gay is ok because it goes against our primary beliefs, one of the most important beliefs in Islam."”

www.itv.com/news/central/2019-07-03/school-to-restart-no-outsiders-equality-lessons-after-consultation-with-parents/

It would appear he objects to more than simply the trans element. I wonder whether he’s worked out that there’s more backing in objecting specifically to the T over the LGB.

AnyOldSpartabix · 01/02/2020 20:07

Apologies, I think from the photo it’s the same person, though in the ITV article they use the name Jay.

BadgertheBodger · 01/02/2020 20:16

That’s part of the problem though isn’t it, lumping the T in with the LGB. It’s difficult then to separate out the true homophobes and intolerant people from the ones who object to many transgender issues being taught as fact to impressionable children. I wish Mr Hussain well as No Outsiders absolutely should be challenged, but I wish he wasn’t also objecting to his child being taught that some people are gay and that’s fine.

I hope this is successful. More sunlight is needed. A lot of people still think this is about homosexuality and haven't understood the born in the wrong body issue.

Doyoumind · 01/02/2020 20:55

If he's against the LGB as well at the T I don't really see this as positive though.

Michelleoftheresistance · 01/02/2020 20:55

There's a large difference between education, values of tolerance and inappropriate messaging and indoctrination. These programmes have long since crossed the line. I'm LGBT and I'd pull my child out of these classes.

This is going to be needed, the government are not keen to upset and provoke the male representatives of Islam in this country.

Michelleoftheresistance · 01/02/2020 21:03

Also worth considering that LGB has been part of PSHE teaching for decades and while it's not perfect, the UK has been a country with a free and thriving LGB population alongside a thriving Muslim population for decades. There wasn't a problem. Until very recently.

The problem has arisen - as many problems have arisen - through the shoving of the aggressive (lgb)T political lobby on a very specific and very contentious agenda with no respect for anyone else's culture, needs, values, beliefs.

Kit19 · 01/02/2020 21:25

The problem is as many ppl have pointed out on here for a looong time is that by yoking LGB with T, when the backlash comes and it will, many hard fought LGB rights could well be lost.
The T does not belong with LGB. Children should be taught about same sex relationships, and know it’s ok to have 2 mummy’s or 2 daddy’s

ScrimshawTheSecond · 01/02/2020 21:41

I will fight for LGB rights alongside women's rights. I would fight for trans rights, for that matter - real trans rights that would offer care and support and third spaces.

But I'm afraid you're probably right, Kit. The backlash is very likely - most people see these issues in very broad terms and nuance is often lost.

Surely no outsiders was designed to be inflammatory from the start. Otherwise why was it introduced as part of the Prevent strategy?

It was set up to create a Muslim vs. trans dispute. It was goading people.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 01/02/2020 21:55

Part of Prevent? Really? I did not know that. Hmm.

This is from before the parents started complaining:

NonnyMouse1337 · 01/02/2020 22:08

The backlash will come. It is only a matter of time. Against LGB and women. The T will bring us down with the rest of them.

The trans privilege movement has got this far by disrespecting everyone else's beliefs and riding roughshod over everyone else's rights. People will only be pushed so far. And many people conflate the T with LGB and feminists.

I wonder how brave the woke warriors are in the face of real prejudice.

Hulo · 01/02/2020 22:19

He has a crowdfunder (closed now). He doesn't seem too happy about LGB but his focus seems to be the teaching round transgenderism and identity

Aesopfable · 01/02/2020 22:52

I guess he has received legal advice that there is no case over LGB

Yes, this is what's gone on I think. Yes, the trans stuff is anti-scientific, it is ideological. But the LBG is also increasingly presenting an ideological position, not just talking about different things people might encounter, or laws, or getting along with other people whatever views they may have that differ from your own.

It seems like because what people on the left who are nonetheless GC are calling homophobia is something they disagree with, it's ok for schools to teach ideology about the LBG, but not ok to teach gender ideology which they disagree with. The problem is lack of respect for real diversity of views. (Which I would suggest can't be neatly summed up in terms of you are homophobic if you don't support the current progressive view on LGB any more than you can say that about racism or gender ideology or really anything else.)

NiteWotcha · 02/02/2020 02:08

I've hidden @littleiceage post as I had a report that it was too identifying.
Just to clarify, MN might reinstate in the morning.

happydappy2 · 02/02/2020 08:12

Wow the comments under the article are great, the public are more informed about the dangers of trans ideology to children.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 02/02/2020 08:27

Hmm. The religious don't care about trans. This is just a way to block the LGB element of sex education. They've objected for ages about "the promotion of homosexuality" in this programme, that hasn't got them anywhere and so now they've latched onto the trans stuff to try to legitimise their real aims.
