This morning (anti feminist) Youtuber Sargon of Akkad has posted this excellent interview with Posie: You don't have to agree with either of them on everything to appreciate the clear common sense and plain speaking in this video. He has a large platform.

Nearly 30k views in the 2 hours it's been up.

He is also known for his 2016 remarks about rape and a female Member of Parliament, Jess Phillips. In response to her complaint that she frequently received rape threats from men online, Benjamin tweeted to her: "I wouldn't even rape you." Criticism of this comment—and a later remark in which Benjamin said he might rape Phillips but for the fact that "nobody's got that much beer"—

Thanks

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/01/2020 12:35

Yes I know what he's like, snowblight. As he pointed out in the video, good old Jess herself dismissively likened the awful NYE Cologne mass sex attacks to "like a night out in Birmingham".

TRAs regularly threaten to rape and murder women. Yet I someone managed to miss your condemnation of these?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/01/2020 12:38

I'm not a Sargon fan, a good friend of mine is and sent me this, as he has other videos by him on this subject. He knows I don't like him much but he knows my issues with transgender ideology and politics. I really think Sargon gets it all now more than he did even a year ago.

Strange that this has so far been neglected by snow, isn't it? Still I'm sure snow intends to put this right any time soon.

Thanks for posting this - I would not have picked up otherwise. No fireworks - almost anodyne in places - and great to hear Posie putting forward her views so clearly. They both appeared to be discussing the subject from the point of view of concerned parents, (rather than the lobby groups etc) which was refreshing and hopefully will happen more often in the future.

snowblight · 25/01/2020 13:06

Absolutely happy to condemn all threats of violence from both sides of the debate. Incidentally, I seem to remember PP talking some time ago about being happy to sit ringside and watch straight men "resolve conflict in different ways to women" when they become aware of trans issues.

Yes. It's a very good interview.

I look forward to the deluge of posts you will need to make proportionally about TRAs.

Whao, snowblight, you have an encyclopaedic knowledge of Posie. I'm impressed

Coyoacan · 25/01/2020 13:22

But you still aren't moved by what she is saying about transitioning children.

GeordieTerf · 25/01/2020 13:22

@snowblight

When have GC feminists ever threatened violence towards trans people? Specific examples please.

Aesopfable · 25/01/2020 13:30

Absolutely happy to condemn all threats of violence from both sides of the debate.

So snowblight you are happy to state that you condemn all threats of violence from TRAs? Or can’t you face actually naming them? You just hide behind ‘both sides’ to make it sound like they are both equally at fault.

Dreamprincess · 25/01/2020 13:30

@GeordieTerf

Strangely enough I can help Snowy out here. On LBC - Nick Ferrari - yesterday Jane Fae was taking part in the discussion on protection for Oxford lecturer. Jane advised that the violence went both ways and as an example said that feminists had arrived on her doorstep and threatened to cut off her bits. (sorry for childish reference, but Nick had the courage to allow the correct term to be used). I find it hard to erase the picture from my mind …..

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/01/2020 13:33

I take it Jane reported this to the police as an act of hate crime?

OP posts:
Aesopfable · 25/01/2020 13:35

Dreamprincess I hope JF reported the incident to the police - did JF say what the police response was?

Dreamprincess · 25/01/2020 13:44

Jane certainly did not say she reported the incident to the police. However, the discussion did become a shouting match as Jane refused to comment on the Oxford situation (the subject of the piece), but just repeated that the violence went both ways. Jane did, however, apologise to the feminist for having implied she was violent.

Then the LGBT representative from Orkney (?) rang in to say she had just had her "bits" cut off in hospital (using the correct term) and Nick decided any further discussion of the correct subject was not going to happen.

It was quite amusing in a Carry On sort of way.

theflushedzebra · 25/01/2020 14:10

No Jane Fae did not say that.

Jane Fae said that a man was trying to find out Fae's address, because HE wanted to roll up at Fae's house and chop off their bits.

A man did this, not feminists.

Fae later apologised to Ditum for saying Ditum would support this.

aliasundercover · 25/01/2020 14:10

Things that never happened

andyoldlabour · 25/01/2020 14:14

Eresh,
thanks for posting this, really impressive. PP comes across as calm, humorous, intelligent and factual.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/01/2020 14:15

I would definitely report such a threat to the police. Especially if I had a protected characteristic that the police were monitoring for hate crimes and even "hate incidents". But actually it is a clearly defined crime to threaten possibly fatal violence to anyone so I'd expect the police to take it seriously.

Ah. How surprising. I still hope Jane reported it.

It must have been painful for Jane to apologise to Sarah.
