This morning (anti feminist) Youtuber Sargon of Akkad has posted this excellent interview with Posie: You don't have to agree with either of them on everything to appreciate the clear common sense and plain speaking in this video. He has a large platform.

Nearly 30k views in the 2 hours it's been up.

He has a large platform of right wing nutters.

The Sargon is a complete tosser, is Kelly in the same room as him?? 🤮

nauticant · 25/01/2020 15:14

The likeliest way for the gender identity ideology to be discredited is when enough of the public, including right wing nutters, including feminists, and including readers of the Daily Mail, say "we've had enough, stop this".

@theflushedzebra

Thanks for pointing out the errors in my message. Unfortunately I look after two (generally noisy) children during Nick's programme, so sometimes mis-hear what is going on. It was funny though.

AnyOldSpartabix · 25/01/2020 15:29

Great interview, very clear summary of many of the issues from Posie.

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 25/01/2020 15:30

Thanks for the share, will watch this shortly.

LangTimeNoWeetabix · 25/01/2020 15:35

It was worth watching. Posie's clear language is very helpful (and she gets to speak a lot).

66K views - they can't all be MN Grin

I have a strong dislike of Carl Benjamin - but one thing he said in that video is spot on. When Posie's talking about the medicalised transitioning of children, he says he can't help but look at this in the same way he'd look at phrenology - and I just agree so much. So much of the medicalised pathway is under-researched, with no evidence of long-term outcomes - the Tavistock woman admitted as much on Newsnight. And in my book that makes it every bit as much quackery as phrenology is.

theflushedzebra · 25/01/2020 16:01

And they've moved onto what kids are being taught in schools - perhaps some of the right wing men who watch Sargon's videos are fathers too, and are now thinking about what their children are being taught in schools too.

FleetsumNLangCleg · 25/01/2020 17:10

This was excellent viewing, thank you OP

Freespeecher · 25/01/2020 17:35

A lot of these videos (necessarily) go over the same ground but one particularly appalling nugget from this interview was someone who'd transitioned to female and regretted it as their newly constructed vagina 'stank of faeces' - nobody had warned them about this, and they were considering suicide.

It both provided further illustration oif how (imho) the ideologues behind this much prefer to see life as they'd like it to be and hide away from how it is (and how they make it with such appallingly destructive surgery) and made me feel so sorry for a vulnerable person who'd been enouraged to go down that path only to be left high and dry and with no support once they could serve as an example as to why the ideology is both deeply flawed and completely against the interests of many of those who've tried to transfer it to a physicial reality to their own detriment.

I'm not expecting Mumsnet to turn into the Sargon fan club any time soon but he gives Posie space to make her points and has quite a large following who may not be aware of al the various furores that are frequently discussed here.

NorthernNic · 25/01/2020 17:48

Dreamprincess you are wrong, I can concur with others that is not what Jane said.

NorthernNic · 25/01/2020 17:49

Cross posted, sorry Dreamprincess I see you've acknowledged this.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/01/2020 18:05

Hmm If I were going to allege that anyone had said something so damning about a group of political/ideological opponents, I'd listen again to the interview when I didn't have any distractions and make absolutely certain I'd heard correctly.

"A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes,” usually attributed to Mark Twain.

Anyway. I don't like what I know about Carl Benjamin, and I'm sure I wouldn't agree with Posie on many points, but I doubt there is a single person alive on this planet who agrees with me on everything. Talking is important. #nodebate is an appalling slogan. Sunshine is the best disinfectant. So if an interview with Benjamin gets the facts out to a wider audience, I'm all for it, and from what I've seen of the interview (about half so far) it's all factually correct.

@NorthernNic

Thanks I really appreciate your comment.

However, I see I am now being vilified for my post by others. Oh woe is me. At least I brought it to others' attention who did not hear Nick's interview. Thank goodness some women have abandoned understanding and kindness for a woman safe guarding children. Lang please return.

DesireesChild · 25/01/2020 18:32

You are not being "vilified"

You posted an incorrect and potentially defamatory comment. The post is defamatory of Jane Fae because as it isn't what she said it can be read as her trying to discredit feminists.

It is also defamatory of gender critical feminists in the suggestion they might do this.

If you had any decency you would ask for the post to be deleted.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/01/2020 18:42

Hyperbole is often counter-productive. It's not vilifying a person to suggest that it's a good idea to check one's facts before posting.

BitOfFun · 25/01/2020 19:07

That was really interesting, thank you.

DesireesChild · 25/01/2020 19:16

My post was a bit harsh but this debate is getting heated generally on both sides. Giving either side the opportunity to screenshot a post like that for future mischief making is not a good idea.

Imnobody4 · 25/01/2020 19:22

That was a really good video. Thanks

How I love MN! I am now indecent. After living an almost blame free life. I am told off by a Mumsnet contributor. I clutch my pearls. This is the pinnacle of success!! Absolutely fabulous. I lead such a sad an uneventful life I need to be told how to act by a Child. May I say "oh dear, how sad, never mind!" Thank you everyone - you have made my pathetic Saturday evening perfect. Roll on tomorrow …...

donquixotedelamancha · 25/01/2020 19:47

Absolutely happy to condemn all threats of violence from both sides of the debate.

What an odd thing to say, given the context.

I too would be interested to know if there has ever been a threat of violence from feminists against self-ID supporters. @snowblight

DesireesChild · 25/01/2020 23:01

I've never heard of any. Which makes Dreamprincess post about Jane Fae so regrettable. It is unfair to Jane Fae and feminists. Why Dreamprincess can't see the obvious screenshot risks in leaving it standing is very odd. If I had made such an error I'd ask for it to be deleted.

Gronky · 25/01/2020 23:24

A man did this, not feminists.

Hmm
