Random. About what? Trans issues?

About your ideas on feminism.

GirlDownUnder · 22/01/2020 23:36

About your ideas on feminism.

Would be a good start, agreed Tinsel, thanks Brew

I didn't think it needed spelling out lol.

TinseLANGel · 22/01/2020 23:37

I didn't think it needed spelling out lol.

It always does. Brew

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 22/01/2020 23:45

It's hard to describe to those who haven't seen it, but it's there.
Maybe you have to your own WTF moment like I did before it becomes apparent.

Do you have any idea how creepy and also familiar the claim you are making sounds?

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 22/01/2020 23:47

How does that work then, as some people can be feminists who believe women should be free to be their own person and know their own mind, having a different opinion doesn't mean you're a man or brainwashed. They can think for themselves, they're their own people and they can also support trans women too. Two viewpoints I know people on here will take issue with but hey

So I've already covered.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 22/01/2020 23:48

I have no idea what you're referring to, I'm juts saying how it is for me.

TinseLANGel · 22/01/2020 23:49

So I've already covered

It would be interesting to read this at greater length.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 22/01/2020 23:50

I find that things that aren't true are often difficult to explain or describe

NotBadConsidering · 22/01/2020 23:52

See, that I don't get. If you're not repeatedly breaking talk guidelines or whatever, how can any so called "watcher" report anything "report worthy?"
There'd be nothing to report.

This is just such utter bollocks it’s hard to know if the intention is to be disingenuous, naive, or gaslighting.

I had a post removed, but I was able to reinstate it. This was the offending paragraph:

*Things that are factual. We should be able to state things that are factual. Such as:

• The types of surgeries undertaken under the terminology of “sex reassignment surgery”, “gender affirming surgery” or various other terms are major surgeries. They include double mastectomy, orchidectomy, penectomy and formation of a sinus (a blind ended pouch).*

I had to insert the word “terminology” in place of where I had written the word “guise”. The word guise, used by me as normal vernacular of English and in no way abusive, was deemed “inflammatory” after someone reported it. It was ridiculous that I had to change that word as it’s a perfectly normal sentence in the English language but I was grateful at least I got the chance to repost.

It is beyond the pale to suggest that posts are reported and removed for genuine reasons when everyone has seen or had personal experience of posts being removed for mind-boggling reasons.

And again, I am blaming the reporters, not the moderators.

TinseLANGel · 22/01/2020 23:52

Interesting on another thread Willis I mean. I don't want to further detail this one.

streakofmalevolence · 22/01/2020 23:52

There are no winners here Justine
Be the bigger person and reinstate Langcleg
Your forum wants this and I can't believe for one minute that you don't have allegiance with her views
This wouldn't be a climb down, just a shout out for common sense

iamright17 · 22/01/2020 23:55

GirlDownUnder
I love her. She is my go to poster
If she had words in private with the moderators it no doubt was to protect the likes of me and others. She put herself at risk for me. I know she did. She spoke up when others couldn’t. Mumsnet know she was being an advocate. They know she was helping others when we couldn’t speak out. Yet, they caved and said it was aggressive behaviour towards their staff. I do not believe this. They were biding their time for the gotcha

iamright17 · 22/01/2020 23:56

They were running scared of the TRA brigade and sacrificed LangCleg to shut them up

iamright17 · 22/01/2020 23:56

Waiting for my email and deletion now

2BthatUnnoticed · 22/01/2020 23:57

Her posts were consistently temperate and polite

... “on the controlled topic,” this should say.

Since she did once say Ricky Gervais could fuck off, I believe. But RG would just tell her (or anyone) to FO right back. And I say that as an admirer of both LC and RG.

WrathoLangKIop · 22/01/2020 23:59

23:49Tinsel
I thought so too.

I do enjoy a long meandering thread when it draws out so many viewpoints to ponder about, often repeatedly.
This is good, it's so worth it.

The wider perspective, the better.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 22/01/2020 23:59

I find that things that aren't true are often difficult to explain or describe

Maybe so, but just because someone finds it difficult to believe what someone else is saying doesn't automatically make it untrue.

WrathoLangKIop · 23/01/2020 00:02

I find that things that aren't true are often difficult to explain or describe

Yep

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 23/01/2020 00:03

Since she did once say Ricky Gervais could fuck off

Well, if that's what we're going by, I also think RG needs to fuck off Grin

RumerGodden · 23/01/2020 00:07

Long time lurker surfacing here throwing out a thought.....please have a look at Mad Fucking Witches on facebook (or google news stories about them). V successful activist group that politely targeted all the advertisers on an Australian radio programme where the main presenter was repeatedly misogynistic and used images of violence against women (he mentioned shoving a sock down the NZ Prime Minister's throat).

A polite campaign by women, asking advertisers to either confirm that they support violence against women or withdraw their advertising was massively successful - around 350 advertisers withdrew, realizing that these women were a powerful consumer group. Cost the radio station millions in lost revenue which is ongoing.

A new campaign has now begun targeting Murdoch media advertisers as supporting a media organisation that denies climate change.

Perhaps a polite campaign to Mumsnet advertisers by Mumsnet users suggesting that they confirm that they support an organisation that is hostile to women's rights and children's safeguarding or withdraw their advertising?

One of the biggest influences we have is that many of us are the primary decision makers in terms of household spend. It might be time to start exercising that power. Many of us can choose to change service providers, insurers, supermarkets etc if we so wish.

Why is it so fucking hard to put women first?

Agree with previous posters who have mentioned that mods may not be mature enough to understand the difference between robust disagreement or aggression.

WrathoLangKIop · 23/01/2020 00:08

As long as it was only once.

popehilarious · 23/01/2020 00:10

It's been repeatedly asserted that we were both abusers and proxies for abuse at various times - and the distinction doesn't feel very important when you're on the receiving end of it.

This point seems to have been lost a little. Even Lang pointed out this distinction on the vast majority of her posts yet it is you who decided that wasn't important?

I still don't really get how it's different from reporting scam threads to point out how MN is being used for nefarious means - that wouldn't be seen as accusing mods of being complicit in any scamming - would it?

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 23/01/2020 00:11

Agree with previous posters who have mentioned that mods may not be mature enough to understand the difference between robust disagreement or aggression

Ouch. That's not an attack at all Confused

2BthatUnnoticed · 23/01/2020 00:11

I truly believe it’s best to minimise interactions with moderators on this topic, both for their benefit (to avoid distressing them) and ours (to avoid getting banned).

We’ve been advised that they find the coercive control discourse upsetting, and that users who continue to raise it will be banned.

WrathoLangKIop · 23/01/2020 00:11

My post was posted and the thread had moved on....Constructively. Smile

That looks interesting Rumer.
