The war on women continues:

The poor, poor woman. Facing a year in jail for being gang-raped.

Have you guys heard "the rapist in your path" song. It is out now. It is being sung by women around the world in protest to rape. It is so powerful

angell84 · 31/12/2019 11:20

Here is the link to the song. It is so powerful!

ferrier Which ones? If I've made a factual error, please correct me.

RhinoskinhaveI · 31/12/2019 11:46

This is an horrendous case and a reminder that many holiday destinations although we see them as idyllic are in fact very corrupt

Thatagain · 31/12/2019 11:51

I believe her. It's easier and cheaper not to listen to a victim. That's the sad reality. I hope they see the truth and she gets freed soon. It's not fair that this can happen.

MangoSplit · 31/12/2019 11:51

This poor woman. I've just donated to the crowdfunder and signed the petition.

Rogileiza · 31/12/2019 14:02

Cut her loose, she executed eye for an eye justice, the boys shamed her by exposing an unauthorized personal video, so she shamed the boys back by throwing them in jail. Unfortunately there were no severe laws to protect the girl against the public humiliation the boys put her through by secretly recording that video.

PanicAndRun · 31/12/2019 14:06

she executed eye for an eye justice,

How exactly? Her friends took her to a doctor, the doctor called the police, the bloke she was seeing gave the names of the others. What exactly did she do,execute or plan?

Rogileiza · 31/12/2019 14:20

She made the rape claims after she found out the guys posted a video exposing her online

theflushedzebra · 31/12/2019 14:24

Rogileiza - Incorrect. The doctor treating her injuries made the report.

theflushedzebra · 31/12/2019 14:26

Oh, and welcome to Mumsnet Rogileiza - what made you join up to this parenting website, and post on only two threads on the women's rights forum about this rape case, I wonder?

Fraggling · 31/12/2019 14:35

Yes I wonder.

I think it's illegal to film people in intimate situations without their consent in UK and posting online has 'revenge porn' laws now as well. Hopefully laws like this will be implemented across the world as women need the protection (and some meb, with as usual other men being the culprits).

That's aside from this case where it's clear she was stitched up from the off, to protect their tourist industry.

Rogileiza · 31/12/2019 14:37

Because I am following the story since day 1, and read all facts reported so far, in English, Greek, and Hebrew. The rape claim was a response to the humiliation she suffered by having the video of the act posted online. And I think she acted properly, she would not get vindicated from what they did to her if she had made a case of invasion of privacy against the boys. By claiming rape, the boys suffered (and deserved) the same public humiliation they put her through.

DeeZastris · 31/12/2019 14:40

Stop talking out of your arse.

PanicAndRun · 31/12/2019 14:44

She did not report it to the police!!

They suffered?!? They were welcomed as heroes back home, with champagne and chants. They said they regret nothing! They said they plan to sue her. They laughed at her and called her names.

While she's been left injured, PTSD and put in jail, for something she didn't start.

Suffered my arse.

ChattyLion · 31/12/2019 14:49

I believe her.

She’s just a young kid, the poor thing. I can’t even begin to imagine the utter shit she’s been through.

bd67th · 31/12/2019 15:02

Wow, it took all of three pages for the rape deniers to turn up. FFS give your head a wobble Rogileiza.

FWRLurker · 31/12/2019 15:04

Ah ok so 18 yo consents to violent unprotected sex with 12 unknown men but is upset because a clip of it went on pornhub. sounds pretty likely. no.

Any response to the multiple posters who pointed out that it was her doctor, NOT her that called the police? Also how does that timing work out with the video release? I would imagine she’s been treated for injuries sooner than a video would be uploaded.

FrauleinF · 31/12/2019 15:05

Wait? It wasn't actually even her who reported it, but a doctor? So her reward for someone trying to get her some kind of justice is public humiliation, vilification and a criminal conviction?

Echoes of the Ched Evans case here - where it wasn't even his victim who reported the rape, but his own testimony of what he had done that night basically gave him away. Hey ho though, she had had sex with other random men before (consent to one man, consent to them all) and apparently men who have been bunged 50 grand by the perpetrator's family to clear his name are just fine in a fair trial so of course Ched Evans was acquitted. How many times has the victim had to change her identity now thanks to campaigns smearing her name online?

How long will it be before victims not only don't bother reporting rapes to the police, but also don't seek medical treatment for their injuries or similar as some well meaning official will start the ball rolling to their name being dragged through the mud, being painted as a false rape accuser and their life being ruined?!

dancingbadger · 31/12/2019 15:05

I believe her I've just donated to the crowdfunding page. Totally disgusted with how she's been treated.

Devereux1 · 31/12/2019 15:06

Rogileiza
The rape claim was a response to the humiliation she suffered by having the video of the act posted online.

How do you know that, as a matter of fact?

angell84 · 31/12/2019 15:07

@Rogileiza

what is your response to - " the girl did not report the rape herself. The doctor reported it after seeing her injuries"

angell84 · 31/12/2019 15:07

I also thought that filming someone having sex and putting it online without their consent - is a crime in itself.

Fraggling · 31/12/2019 15:10

In the UK but maybe not Cyprus.

Fraggling · 31/12/2019 15:12

But gang rape presumably is a crime in Cyprus and look what's happened so who knows.
