His interview with the Triggernometry fellas was most interesting.

I wonder how many more sensible people in the public eye will raise their heads above the parapet now. Loads, I hope.

Butchyrestingface · 19/12/2019 23:55

He can kiss his little slot on ITV goodbye, and sadly I doubt he’s anywhere as near as wealthy as JKR. Crown Sad

CrossingTheAlpsInOtley · 19/12/2019 23:59

Good on him.

Hopefully lots more people with a public profile will come out and state the simple biological fact that you can no more change sex than you can become a llama.

Although you can say you are a llama, wear a woolly coat and spit at those who still call you a human dressed as a llama

GCAcademic · 20/12/2019 00:00

He doesn’t seem that bothered about losing work. I’ve seen him basically shrug his shoulders about it in interviews. Though he says that many more people in his profession are fed up with SJW types than you’d think.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 20/12/2019 00:01

Good for him. I do admire a gives no fucks attitude

stumbledin · 20/12/2019 00:11

I wonder how genuine he is. In a couple of recent interviews he seems to be having some sort of crisis, and gave loads of examples of how he has gone out of his way to upset his luvvie colleagues. eg wearing baseball caps supporting Trump just to be antogonistic.

time will tell i suppose

Actor Laurence Fox slams stars who wore ‘revealing’ black dresses to support Time’s Up campaign at the Golden Globes – and rages that Harry and Meghan are 'ultra-woke hypocrites'
Laurence, 41, admits his new album targets politically correct 'woke culture'
Reveals he wanted to name a song 'MeToo' but was banned by record bosses
The song, now called Dead in the Eye, was inspired by stars protest at the Golden Globes when women wore black outfits to support the Time's Up movement
Father-of-two slammed 'woke' actors for supporting Extinction Rebellion cause

LeftHandDown · 20/12/2019 00:26

He's said and retweeted a few things recently about 'woke' culture, though not quite as strongly worded, but oddly enough rarely gets any blowback!

ARoombaOfOnesOwn · 20/12/2019 00:31

He’s probably not that well known tbh. I don’t imagine many of the woke watched Lewis.

UpfieldHatesWomen · 20/12/2019 00:58

I quite enjoyed his interview on Triggernometry up to the part he got all MRA and was going on about men have it as bad as women because they had to fight in WW2. Erm, yeah, 80 years ago, in a war ordered by men, fighting other men, women weren't exactly the oppressors in that situation. That's the trouble with a lot of men on the GC side. Rather than being concerned about the impact on women's rights, they want a push back against criticism of male behaviour. I mean I get it, with the Lib Fem thought policing stasi always on the case, but they fail to distinguish between the the different kinds of feminism or get to grips with the issues on any significant level, and don't wish to examine their own sex class, it's just about sticking two fingers up.

theflushedzebra · 20/12/2019 00:58

He's part of - descended from - the Fox acting dynasty - he'll be fine.

HandsOffMyRights · 20/12/2019 02:03

Yes, the Fox family are acting royalty.

Expect he's getting piled on right now, as Robert Webb did before retracting a tweet after one of the many Mermaids scandals hit the news.

terfsandwich · 20/12/2019 03:49

I wonder if Robert Webb's fingers are itching.
Also where is Stephen Fry in all this? Doesn't he live on twitter?

fuckitywhy · 20/12/2019 06:29

Well there's a show to look up, thanks.

SisyphusRocks · 20/12/2019 07:31

Previous comments would suggest he's another TWAW luvvie

TheChampagneGalop · 20/12/2019 07:43

Cool, he posted a lot about it too. It's heartening to see more famous people speaking up.

He's been in loads of things, was famously married to Billie Piper and has been in Celebrity Gogglebox recently. He's pretty well known.

Butchyrestingface · 20/12/2019 09:00

Why do I have the feeling many of the people commenting are 14 or younger?

Does that count for much these days? Laurence and Emilia are the only two of the ‘younger’ generation I can think of and they’re both over 40.

LF has been on my twat-dar for some time, although I can’t exactly remember why. Am prepared to be wrong about him.

Butchyrestingface · 20/12/2019 09:02

Meant to quote this post:

He's part of - descended from - the Fox acting dynasty - he'll be fine.

Dozer · 20/12/2019 09:04

He’s made some odd comments, on unrelated issues, in interviews.

LangCleg · 20/12/2019 09:08

He's part of - descended from - the Fox acting dynasty - he'll be fine.

He is and he will. Certainly doesn't need anyone's money.

Also: Laurence Fox is a professional contrarian. He'll be absolutely loving a negative pile-on from genderists.

ARoombaOfOnesOwn · 20/12/2019 09:15

Freddie Fox is 30ish and imho much more talented than Emilia and Laurence, no offence to them.

EvenSupposing · 20/12/2019 09:17

Stephen Fry is full on 'why can't you be KIND?'

Probably because he has loads of guilt about coming out late and did all that filming in Uganda (?) and thinks we are literally killing people because that is what he has seen there. And all the women he knows are rich and well-educated and won't ever need to share a council swimming pool changing room /refuge/prison with an AGP.

But I suppose he might come around now the tide is firmly on the turn.

Dozer · 20/12/2019 09:33

Stephen Fry - urgh

DuMondeB · 20/12/2019 09:33

I quite enjoyed his interview on Triggernometry up to the part he got all MRA and was going on about men have it as bad as women because they had to fight in WW2.

I didn’t mind that too much (although I think he was wide of the mark) because I see conscription as a class oppression more than a sex oppression thing (posh boys like old Harrovian Laurence Fox didn’t die in trenches, that was for the likes of my great grandad). The bit that made me Hmm was the stuff about family courts favouring women, right at the end. The courts favour women because in most cases, women are the primary caregivers!
Of course, if you and your ex missus are well off enough to hire a nanny apiece, 50/50 custody is easier to achieve.

Other than that I thought he was interesting and appreciated the give no fucks attitude. Again though, it’s easier to give no fucks when you have a massive financial cushion.

He’s playing some small music venues nationally in the new year (300 ish capacity at my nearest). Might go seem him, he can buy me a drink Xmas Wink
