Aviva shared these lovely tweets today. I am actually insured with them but I will not be renewing. And they are not bothered by customers leaving, clearly.

What’s a Tom?

Baldcrusader · 28/11/2019 20:16

I'm so going to say I'm a woman if I ever get an annuity from Aviva.

Bet they won't be so inclusive then.

As for trans in sport. FTM, fine it's IOC ratified as far as I'm aware.

MTF however, no. I could call myself a woman, have all the surgery etc but I will never ever have the musculature or skeletal setup of a woman. My body will never severely dislike me once a month.

At what point in this brave new world would a trans woman be considered eligible to compete in womens sport anyway? Self identification or full reassignment surgery?

Would there be something in place to stop someone competing as a woman, winning everything in sight, then magically reverting to being a man about two days after retirement?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/11/2019 20:19

Bless a ‘Tom’ is apparently a social media sensation... with all of 28 followers. A piece of toast would have more followers.

Do we know him/her?

traceyracer · 28/11/2019 20:20

"What’s a Tom?"

I think it's a very small particle that together make up molecules and chemicals.

I’ve written, I’m spitting feathers

Michelleoftheresistance · 28/11/2019 20:54

Give it up Tom.

Whatever's up with Katie, my first basic expectation of any insurance company is that they're not pissed.

DadDadDad · 28/11/2019 21:01

I'm so going to say I'm a woman if I ever get an annuity from Aviva.

Before 2012, a woman would get a lower rate for an annuity (because women live longer), so it wouldn't have been a good strategy. Since the EU ruling in 2012, annuity rates have to be the same for both sexes. That does raise the question of whether we might reverse that after Brexit.

theflushedzebra · 28/11/2019 21:07

Tom is your common or garden MRA.

Here he is really not liking dv charities pointing out facts about events triggering dv against women (hint: football teams losing is another one) - or that firefighters fighting bushfires are allowed to kick seven bells out of their wives when they get home- not entirely sure which angle he's arguing here.

And here he is calling feminists "fat, grumpy dykes" - incidentally, the woman he said this to is on the TRA side of the debate, so he's not choosy about which women he insults.

See his timeline for numerous other examples of his woman-hating.

We’ve got home & multi car insurance with Aviva, I’ve been too lazy to shop around for the last few years but that is going to have to change. Once these companies have been stonewalled there is no going back.

traceyracer · 28/11/2019 22:01

He has an obsession with "false accusations".

theflushedzebra · 28/11/2019 22:08

And "misandry" traceyracer - a made up word that us basically the equivalent of "cis" as a made-up word.

FemaleAndLearning · 28/11/2019 22:19

It's them pesky women at mums net again. We just don't keep quiet do we? Oh and it's Tom again.

I hope none of that charity money they’re raising is going educate girls in developing countries or toilet blocks for females in developing countries, because of the high level of sexual abuse they suffer. That would be very transphobic!

TowelNumber42 · 28/11/2019 23:01

Tom is doing free advertising for MN. Marvellous. Carry on Tom. Welcome newcomers.

traceyracer · 28/11/2019 23:26

Is a day at work as a firefighter really a trigger for committing domestic-violence? Is it to do with the man being pumped so full of testosterone and feeling like he needs more power or something so he takes it out on his wife?

womanaf · 28/11/2019 23:43

Finally, a boycott I can join in on.

Building, contents, cars, and I think life but need to check, no weird shit so I won’t have a problem going elsewhere.

MrGHardy · 29/11/2019 02:19

"I think Katie had a heavy night Wine"

Who on this CO2 suffering planet represents their company like that? You are insurance company, you are meant to be boring and serious. You are not their mate, you are tweeting publicly. That has got to be one of the most unprofessional things I have ever seen.

MrsJamin · 29/11/2019 10:35

What are they doing liking this tweet, too? It's clearly a tongue in cheek reply - do they believe the guy, that he has faced homophobia from women after he identified as a lesbian woman and wanted to take part in women's cycling?! Its just astounding that they blamed Katie's tweeting on her being drunk!

theflushedzebra · 29/11/2019 10:39

Ha - always amusing when people like a spoof tweet. Madigan did that once Grin

aliasundercover · 29/11/2019 11:06

How can we tell that tweet is tongue in cheek? It seems almost reasonable compared to some of the stuff I've seen trans 'women' say.

theflushedzebra · 29/11/2019 11:10

True, alias - but a check of his timeline confirms he's a v spoofy account.

MrsJamin · 29/11/2019 11:13

It's not my job to work out a tweet is tongue in cheek (it definitely seems that way from the rest of his tweets) but a professional large insurers, liking that? What the hell are they thinking?

Next time my family are choosing an insurance company, I won't choose one where they throw women under the bus so that men can take their place in sports, allow people to "Just DM us some details" to cancel a policy, have drunk people on their social media team and put energy into virtue-signalling instead of, you know, being a good insurer.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 29/11/2019 11:19

One of the Twitter posters hit the nail on the head, with this point.

Katatina Hill

I found it really interesting the way businesses, like Aviva, ignored LGB issues for all the years of struggle, just to coin in now. Bravo!

Funny how straight white male bodied people demanding things seems to have had a bigger reaction than all the LGB put together. Why...why... it almost suggests some sort of privilege. Now, what kind of privilege would that be, I wonder. 🤔

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/11/2019 11:59

I may be wrong... but have Aviva deleted the tweets referring to this whole shitstorm?

Have they not heard of screenshots and long long memories?
