I am glad to see Harry mentioned in the Sunday Telegraph today, along with Caroline Farrow. Article by Zoe Strimpel.
I am not a fan of the Telegraph, I prefer the Times, but it is good to see various newspapers taking a bit of notice.

Crowd justice is still short of its goal by the way. On the odd change the ruling doesn't go Harry's way.

Thanks for the new thread.

This was linked on the last thread - superb blog post by Mrs Owl

Wow, I love that post. I am always impressed by people who use the word "liminal".

PetraDelphiki · 24/11/2019 18:05

Huge support to both Owls...properly brave and stunning people!!

SophoclesTheFox · 24/11/2019 18:07

Blatant place mark.

Really interesting discussion of timelines of regulatory capture on the last thread.

My first experience dates back to 2011 when some sort of queer/trans rights group came to an abortion rights march I was on. I was just kind of baffled at the time, as when they had their chance at the mike, it was all TRANS RIGHTS NOW, and absolutely zero about reproductive autonomy. Literally didn’t mention abortion once, at an abortion rights march. At the time I just thought it was odd and a bit silly, but looking back now, I interpret it rather differently.

Am now imagining a children's book with Gruffalo-style illustration:

One day, Harry the Owl was reading the graffiti on the oak tree and saw a funny poem. He marked it with his claw and flew off to the fence post where he was kept busy with pest control.

Soon, Harry had a visit from PC Gull. "You're nicked Harry the Owl," said PC Gull. "We've had a complaint from a transhare."

"You mean a rabbit," said Harry.

"No," said PC Gull, "Because sometimes, a hare-brain grows in a rabbity body...."

Marking my place. need to go back to first thread and read the regulatory capture stuff more carefully. Mumsnet is such an education!

refusetobeasheep · 24/11/2019 18:46

Beautifully written blog - PC Gull really picked the wrong couple

MockersFactCheckMN · 24/11/2019 18:51

...."Look," said Harry, "I used to be forest constable, and I didn't have time to tell people off for poems. I was too busy chasing weasels and cuckoos and other woodland crims."

"There's been a few changes since your day, Harry," said PC Gull. "We've all been down to KoolAid Lake to be trained by the Mermaids. And If any cuckoos identify as blackbirds, you have to let them lay eggs in the nest of thier choice."

"I'm not having this," said Harry, and off he flew, in search of a legal eagle, who would present his case in front of the Wise Old Beak.....

Have you ever heard "The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles" by Jethro Tull (from "A Passion Play").

YouTube it and then re-read your bit Grin

MockersFactCheckMN · 24/11/2019 19:00

....cooo. Interesting. Anyway:

The Mermaids of KoolAid Lake were slippery creatures with blue hair and tight bandages where their scallop-shells used to be.

"Harry the Owl hates Cuckoos" They chanted. "Cuckoo chicks are everywhere plunging to their deaths because of Harry. Death To Harry The Owl! Tolerance! Inclusion! Death to Harry!!!"

Mockers - is it you that post excerpts from Sally’s diary too? If so, you have a talent for satire.

VinandVigour · 24/11/2019 21:39

Oh, David Davis , not David Davies, that’s unexpected.
