I have been following this thread since the start and I want to point out that as a female, it is not just for intimate procedures that I want a female health professional.
I now know that for some medical appointments, it is less stressful for me to have a woman who may have some shared experience where they can relate to what I am talking about or needing. It has come from long experience of having my ‘women’s issues’ dismissed or misinterpreted.
Bunny, after being shamed too often by doctors who have never menstruated or had morning sickness and caused incredible pain during labour by a male registrar, I now value a female perspective for some medical appointments. Not often, but when I need to.
I think sensitivity goes both ways in life and more so in medical care. If you personally cannot understand why i make that choice when I need to, that is fine. As long as I continue to have a right to choose.
