Lib Dems Women's Declaration!

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 17/11/2019 21:34

Some GC Lib Dem women have started a Women's Declaration.

Please sign and share. You don't need to be a member, and you can sign it anonymously.

www.ipetitions.com/petition/lib-dem-sex-based-rights-declaration

I know they've been a bit of a shit show of late but there are some members who do understand biology and who want to balance rights for all. It ain't perfect but it's a start.

But they have stated they don't want Terfs in their party.

So basically they can FOTTFSOFF

Siameasy · 17/11/2019 22:06

Blimey. Not a LD voter but it’s a start

midcenturylegs · 17/11/2019 22:24

Tried to sign but there is no option to not have to give a contribution to do so! So they've lost my support. You shouldn't have to pay to sign a petition

Also the text seems remarkably like the Women's Labour text from last week.

VitreousHumour · 17/11/2019 22:28

It says your signature has been recorded' before the donation page.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/11/2019 22:29

You don't have to pay Confused Where are you seeing that?

Also, why does it matter if it is the same as the labour declaration, they are all saying the same things....

TinaBarrow · 17/11/2019 22:30

Not a LD voter but just signed for free.

IWantADifferentName · 17/11/2019 22:36

Too little and too late to get me to vote for them. (I was formerly a paid up party member and activist). They are no longer the party that I once supported.

XXcstatic · 17/11/2019 22:40

Thanks for the link - signed. You don't have to pay.

aligran · 17/11/2019 22:51

There are lots of GC members in Lib Dems. We don’t want to lose members from the party because of the bigotry of the TRAs and their henchpersons (because it’s bigotry that refuses to debate those you don’t agree with).

TinselAngel · 17/11/2019 22:56

Sorry but fuck that shit. Shame they didn't mention what the Lib Dem's are trying to do to trans widows.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 17/11/2019 22:56

signed. I would vote Lib Dem if they weren't so anti-women and anti-girl.

aligran · 17/11/2019 22:56

And Labour’s seemed to be modelled on the SNP one that came out earlier in the year. All seem based loosely on what WPUK campaign for-so at least we all agree on at least one issue!

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 17/11/2019 23:00

Yes shame the declaration didn't cover their policy on forcing transwidows to stay in marriages against their will.

The Lib Dems: forcing women to stay with abusive men. What's liberal about that? Idiots.

GeordieTerf · 17/11/2019 23:01

The Lib Dems have stated very clearly that they don't want gender critical feminists.

And to all the posters saying that there are loads of GC people in the Lib Dems, why aren't you speaking up? Why aren't you loud and proud? Oh yeah, because you'll be expelled if you do.

littlbrowndog · 17/11/2019 23:04

But whose# the woman that started this petition

Is she a Lib Dem MP,?

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 17/11/2019 23:14

Whilst I am pleased women are doing this, for both Labour and LibDems I see this as the work of handmaidens trying to convince us that their parties might not trample over women’s rights, so that we will vote for them. But it’s a minority view and as soon as they were elected they would trample over us and ignore this. It’s meaningless and has no force behind it and is purely cynically marketing the parties in the run up to the GE.

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/11/2019 23:17

Ed Davey did come on here, but I don't think Jo Swinson did
Ed made his views very clear, then I think they did some Twittering

AdaFromYorkshire · 17/11/2019 23:18

I've signed the petition but won't vote for them in the GE.

aligran · 17/11/2019 23:26

That’s unfair! The people who have come up with this have suffered for being GC. But all the political parties have suffered from policy capture about trans issues. It’s going to be a long job to challenge the influence of Stonewall, with their false wording of protected characteristics and their plan to erase women’s sex based protections. It definitely won’t be “done” by the time of the GE - in any of the parties! But if we don’t start at some time, it will NEVER be possible to amend these sinister policies.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 17/11/2019 23:33

littlbrowndog
I don't know, just googled her and this story, and a thread on here, came up.

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/lib-dem-trans-activists-hounded-abuse-victim-b6dx39tv3

I'd beg you all to sign it whether or not you're going to vote for them in the GE or not, every number counts and at least some of them are doing something.

I was challenged when I first appeared on twitter for not being in the fight for as long as some others; well you can't fight about something you're not aware of or well read about. Now these women have looked into it and are protesting. I'm happy to support them.

OP posts:
stumbledin · 18/11/2019 00:23

I agree its a bit late, but if these few women in the Lib Dems have found the courage to speak out agains the Lib Dem HQ line, surely we should be supporting them.

Doesn't mean we have to vote for them any more than signing the Labour Women's Declaration means we have to vote Labour who are just as erasing of women.

It does seem that the Lib Dem women are more intimidated as there is no list of original signatures, just the petition creator who has already been put through shit by trans activists. Respect due. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3399104-Times-Lib-Dem-trans-activists-hounded-abuse-victim-Natalie-Bird-Article-refers-to-Zoe-OConnell-Sarah-Brown

EileenAlanna · 18/11/2019 00:28

Very welcome move on the part of these LibDem women.

IWantADifferentName · 18/11/2019 02:21

I support the views expressed in the petition wholeheartedly. However, until party policy changes, I will not vote LibDem.

I have not signed the period because it is hosted by iPetition which has a history of malware/viruses/spam etc.

Igmum · 18/11/2019 03:03

Signed.

SugarPlumFairyCakes · 18/11/2019 06:31

I have signed, as I have the Labour one. Not because I think it will make much difference, but I do want to support anyone's attempts to highlight this.
