Fresh thread in case part 2 fills up overnight.
I am yet to receive a reply to my third email, have been furiously tweeting, and as am now pursuing the options available to me as a shareholder.
Still crossing fingers for John Lewis!

Ditto in this document too

corporate.marksandspencer.com/documents/plan-a-our-approach/mns-people-principles.pdf

Treating everyone equally regardless of age, gender, gender reassignment, colour, ethnic or national origin, disability, hours of work, nationality, religion or belief, marital or civil partner status, disfigurement, political opinions or sexual orientation. We treat all colleagues with dignity and respect and expect colleagues to treat each other and our customers in the same way.

Just unsubscribed from their email and told them why. Not that they give a shiny shit.

That was also posted on the second thread. But good to read it again for those, who won’t have time to digest every post.

TimeLady · 12/11/2019 18:40

Sorry, I read the previous two threads, but must have missed that.

FannyCann · 12/11/2019 18:48

I can't believe I'm having to think about this stuff. What on earth are you doing M&S? I just want to buy some good value pants and nice food.

Forgive me if it's already been mentioned but as regards food (and ? possibly other products) isn't M&S taking over the contract at Ocado (from Waitrose) next year?

raisinseverywhere · 12/11/2019 19:26

I honestly feel a bit sick. I’ve just looked up thongs on M&S online, and all the lacy ones have loads of reviews by men. I also looked up First Bras, that young girls might look at, and saw a review there by a man. Makes me wonder if these men like to read the reviews of young girl knickers etc as it turns them on.

BouquetOfRoses · 12/11/2019 19:27

Checking in

Akire · 12/11/2019 19:35

Creepiness aside... why would you allow reviews on mens bodies when they not designed for? Like me giving 2 stars to a single duvet because it didn’t fit my double bed. It’s skews the average rating as comparing totally different things. That’s reason surely to not allow them as a review.

raisinseverywhere · 12/11/2019 19:40

Thongs in Next also have a lot of reviews by men. Also some in Debenhams. Doubt they’ve even bought them, probably just like to review them. But I guess M&S is their favourite as they don’t just need to use their Male name, but can also state their Male gender.

StandUpStraight · 12/11/2019 19:53

God this is so disgusting. That’s an excellent point akire. If I was ever to buy underwear from them again, which I am most certainly not, I would have to mentally apply a pervert adjustment to the star rating.

I’m dreaming of a different Christmas
It’s not the one I used to know
Where the pennies jingled and women mingled
In Markies - twas the place to go.

I’m dreaming of a Tesco Christmas
It is the only choice tonight
May their cubicles and curtains shut tight
And may all their gussets be sewn right.

Someone’s dreaming of a markies Christmas
It ain’t the one he used to know
Now the stores bow meekly and the floors feel treacly
And the girls have nowhere safe to go

He’s dreaming of a markies Christmas
With every pair of drawers he wears
He is loving the indignant stares
He has won and he owns no markies shares.

We used to be dreaming of a markies Christmas
It was the choice of womenfolk
Now their dreams lie shattered and broke
Just because markies caved and went all woke.

Sexnotgender · 12/11/2019 20:06

Just spoke to my mum and she wanted to know if my boycott extended to receiving gifts for myself and my children at Christmas from M&S. I said of course! Every little helps!

Joisanofthedales · 12/11/2019 20:06

Wow it's true. The reviews of knickers by men had the highest number of likes and were so agp. This made me feel like I needed a shower. As an ex Sam I should be used to it but it seems that I'm not. I wish I didn't know so many men are basically perves :(

Joisanofthedales · 12/11/2019 20:12

Thank you numbers. I was feeling sick and you cheered me up. Smile

Rachelsfatarse · 12/11/2019 20:53

Since going down the GC rabbit hole over a year ago I’ve spent a lot of time checking various bodies for their Equality Policy, councils, sporting bodies etc and every single once that quotes the Equality Act incorrectly had had training from Stonewall or Gendered Intelligence. It’s almost like someone has misled told these organisations that sex isn’t a protected characteristic and the organisations are too lazy or male to even check and just cut and paste their polices direct from their training literature.

theflushedzebra · 12/11/2019 21:05

and guess what....the protected characteristic sex is missing, replaced, surprise surprise, by gender.

Age  Religion or belief  Ethnic or national origin  Marital or civil partner status  Hours of work  Sexual orientation  Race  Gender  Disability  Colour  Gender reassignment  Nationality  Pregnancy/maternity

Yup - this is in breach of the Equality Act - the protected characteristic is sex.

I know a lot of women on here/twitter were going around checking local council's Equality policies, and getting them changed.

And yes, you can bet those policies have been written by someone who has had the Stonewall training.

They want sex replaced by "gender identity" as the end result - thus completely erasing the legal protections of biological women,

Thanks for the information, I also missed that in the earlier thread.
It is important information so I will repeat it again.

Marks and Spencer are misquoting the law
Marks and Spencer are misquoting the Equality Act

Sex is a protected characteristic in law but has been omitted in the M&S policy.

This is no mystery as we all know this has been done deliberately in the hope that no one notices

This document has been swhittled.

CeridwenTheWitch · 12/11/2019 21:18

Haha I love it Numbers we should arrange choirs to sing this outside every M&S!

Yes and also, aren't they breaking the law by removing sex as a protected characteristic?

Imagine if they removed disability, or race, there would be uproar. The contempt shown for women makes me so incredibly angry.

SirVixofVixHall · 12/11/2019 21:25

Imagine if they removed disability, or race, there would be uproar
Yes, and rightly so. Yet sex can be removed and replaced by the meaningless “gender” . I find it sinister.

Nousernameforme · 12/11/2019 21:32

I don't spend loads in M&S but I get my christmas pjs for the kids and the fancy christmas shop. Oh also the school uniform in the summer. If John Lewis are reconsidering their policies I will switch to them for the jimmers and waitrose for the fancy shop.
