DJLippy · 11/11/2019 16:57

The Detransition Advocacy Network was established to support people who have stopped or reversed gender reassignment.

To celebrate its launch, Make More Noise will be hosting an event discussing the ethics of the social and medical transition of gender non-conforming women and girls.

Featuring talks from professionals working in the field followed by a panel discussion of detransitioned women talking about their experiences.

UPDATE! NAME OF FIRST SPEAKER ANNOUNCED

Susan Evans is a mental health nurse and psychotherapist who resigned her position at the Tavistock clinic over concerns that hormones were being prescribed to vulnerable children without due care. She is seeking to bring a legal case to the courts which will establish that children cannot give their informed consent to radical experimental medical treatment.

Thanks.

This looks like such an important event and given Sue and Charlie's recent headlines, should shine more light on that elephant.

I can't make this, but credit to Sue, Charlie and everybody involved.

Keep talking.

PurpleHoodie · 11/11/2019 17:09

Cannot go. But can buy a supporter ticket Flowers

Redshoeblueshoe · 11/11/2019 17:14

Good luck DJ

Doobigetta · 11/11/2019 17:33

Looking forward to this, thanks DJ.

TinselAngel · 11/11/2019 17:37

Sounds like it's going to be a really interesting event.

BillyGarwelluni · 15/11/2019 13:20

I've just been on the phone to "Make More Noise" who are listed as the organisers and no-one from the company has heard of this event. Im making a detransitioner documentary and hoped to film there but they know nothing about this event.

TinselAngel · 15/11/2019 13:23

I think you were probably speaking to the wrong people.

DuMondeB · 15/11/2019 13:24

You must’ve contacted the Birmingham PR company, instead of the Manchester Feminist Collective (same name, not remotely connected).

This is the MMN you want: makemorenoisemanc.wixsite.com/mysite

Needmoresleep · 15/11/2019 13:30

DJ, I looked at the link but nowhere does it say which city it is in. It might be useful to add something like "central Manachest" exact venue will be given x hours before the event,or similar.

(Or I may simply be being dim.)

DCIRozHuntley · 15/11/2019 13:33

It says it in the blurb on the Eventbrite page but agree its not easy to spot Grin Central Manchester, fwie

BillyGarwelluni · 16/11/2019 15:11

Thanks for telling me the correct Make More Noise, the PR company must of been so confused. Whats the best way to contact the correct MMN because im struggling to find an email, social media or phone number.

I think DJLippy who started this thread is involved, so you could @ her on here.

testing987654321 · 16/11/2019 15:20

She may have a contact email if not.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 16/11/2019 15:51

Got my ticket.

PiedImperial · 16/11/2019 16:30

There is a great article (also very sad) about detransitioning on the Telegraph website today - mentioning the Manchester event.

Not sure if the link will work - I managed to read it, and I'm not a subscriber:

DuMondeB · 17/11/2019 11:27

There is a ‘contact the organiser’ form on the eventbrite page.

(I have a ticket too, hoping to meet some of you)

Too far for me to travel unfortunately but this looks as if it'll be a superb event. Heard Charlie Evans talk at FiLiA and she was brilliant. Courageous woman and a much-needed organisation.

KatieAlcock · 21/11/2019 20:34

I'm all booked.

Siameasy · 21/11/2019 21:17

Sounds good, good luck

FINAL FINAL SPEAKER ANNOUNCED!

Dr Hannah Ryan has been working as a doctor in the NHS for 10 years. She has worked for the Cochrane Infectious Disease Group where she performed systematic reviews, working in evidence synthesis for health policy. Her interest in the ways that evidence is used in formulating guidelines and informing clinical practice is the reason why she takes an interest in trans health.

Who is coming? I’m hoping to meet some of you!

nettie434 · 30/11/2019 12:42

Very interesting. It was significant for me when Carl Heneghan, professor of evidence based medicine, did his review with Tom Jefferson on gender affirming hormones for adolescents. The evidence quoted by Mermaids etc would not meet the criteria for being applied elsewhere in the NHS.
