If the boyfriend has such fantasies why would he talk about them on twitter?
I’m sure many people have fantasies that they haven’t told anyone about.

zen1 · 09/11/2019 22:53

So if the Lib Dem’s are saying that they don’t want people in their party who don’t believe someone can change their biological sex, does that mean they actually believe people can change their biological sex? So, they don’t believe scientific facts? Bloody hell, they are essentially as wacky as flat-earthers.

They are the only party that has ever come close to challenging the Tories in my consituency, but I’d rather spoil my ballot than vote for that shite.

GirlDownUnder · 09/11/2019 22:54

Just curious, has AC actually met Nathaniel Knight in person?

Yes, and they’ve been on holiday with their other girlfriend, but I think the poly relationship either ended or is being not talked about as much / is no longer the primary relationship.

I could look it up, but I’m having a lovely Sunday morning.

Voice0fReason · 09/11/2019 23:01

I'm glad to see they have kicked AC out but I'm clearly not welcome in the party so I will take my vote elsewhere.

GirlDownUnder · 09/11/2019 23:06

There’s this thread about Nathaniel - the lib dems were made aware at the time, but apparently it wasn’t a concern.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3639203-Nathaniel-Knight-partner-of-Aimee-Challenor-worrying-twitter-admissions?

Where I noted
“Kat if my memory serves Katrina Swales was / is in a poly relationship with AC and NK, but I'm not sure how this fits in with AC and NKs planned wedding in December.”

Nathaniel deleted his original tweets but there are screen shots on the thread and it was archived (archive.li/PhxK7)

Great article, well done the Times, Joani Walsh and Sian Griffiths.

And despite the well overdue suspension of Challenor, the Lib Dems won't get my vote now, even though I was thinking of voting for my local woman Lib Dem candidate.

The breathtaking arrogance of telling a GNC woman to, essentially, fuck off and then also saying "As liberals we champion everyone’s right to live the life they want" - well that GNC woman wanted to join the Lib Dems so clearly not. Words do mean things you know, you can't just say "we're really really nice you know, now fuck off" and expect people to believe you (or even vote for you).

I'll fix that for you Lib Dems "As liberals we champion men's right to live the life they want". Women, on the other hand, they want to restrict as much as possible. They'd like to prevent us from believing in science and facts and sanction us if we have the temerity to do so.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 09/11/2019 23:22

Am so glad light is being shone on these situations now. I have no beef with AC who must have had an awful childhood; but the bizarre behaviour of all these political parties who lose all judgement the minute someone says they are trans does need to be given the cold light of day. Thank you to the Times for the story.

teawamutu · 09/11/2019 23:29

God, they look like ineffectual handwringing dicks, don't they?

If the cap fits...

OvaHere · 09/11/2019 23:31

According to Joani some stuff was cut from the final article but AC is definitely off the Stonewall panel.

Don't forget the lib dems have also passed a motion to remove the 'spousal veto' as they erroneously call it.

I think it’s for the best if Aimee has now permanently retired from politics.

Apart from the fact they were a charisma free zone it’s really very odd to have similar fetishes to their now imprisoned dad. The best thing Chanellor could now do is to have intensive therapy to unpick their horrific childhood.

theflushedzebra · 09/11/2019 23:47

If i was an outsider who hadn't read up on this stuff, I'd be staring at that article with my jaw on the floor. It reads like "you couldn't make it up!"

Nathaniel's twitter was categorically not hacked. (I mean, who? WHY?) I was watching this happening live, and Nathaniel started defending himself vociferously, and then said "oh the MN terfs have seen this now, and are going on about it" - there was also a blog found, written by him, with several v dodgy paedophilic and incestuous "stories" on that he called "fantasy erotica".

Just another perv who realised, too late, that outside his online bubble this stuff really isn't acceptable.

glitterfarts · 09/11/2019 23:48

Do any of the parties uphold women's sex based right to keep men (including TW) out of women's spaces? Where would I look to find this information?

I don't want my daughters coming against people with XY or XXY chromosomes in sport. I don't want female spaces, jobs, awards, crime statistics populated by males.

It is my number one topic.

theflushedzebra · 09/11/2019 23:51

As for the LibDems, I persuaded my mum not to vote for them today.

As for Aimee Challenor - father in prison for child sex offences, fiance posting stories with similar sentiments online. I mean, come on! Challenor does not have the maturity, experience, good judgement or training to be working with any political party or youth organisation.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 09/11/2019 23:58

glitter I want that question answered too. I think someone on here said the communist party are GC (i.e. believe in scientifically proven reality). Other than that I don't think any party is openly pro-women and children / retaining single sex spaces. It seems to me of the 3 main ones the Tories are the best - they're less "TWAW no debate" than the others and some of their MPs have spoken up for women - but they've messed up Brexit spectacularly, plus austerity (which impacts women more), plus all the problems with the NHS, so not sure I can bring myself to vote for them.

theflushedzebra · 10/11/2019 00:06

LibDems, Labour & Greens have all said they'll introduce gender self iD. ALthough I haven't seen manifestoes yet.

Tories are prevaricating, and have been for years.

SNP were about to pass self ID, but then didn't (thanks to sterling work by Joan MacFarlane & Joanna Cherry) and have now reopened consultation/shelved it.

Much as it pains me to say this, I think on self ID Boris is our best hope. Or SNP if you're in Scotland.

Boris is o particular feminist advocate, but then neither is "TWAW" Jeremy Corbyn,

Realistically, the next govt will be led by Corbyn or Boris. I don't want either - but I'm already resigned to Boris.

ChattyLion · 10/11/2019 01:06

I am shocked at that complete load of anti-democratic, illiberal misogyny that the Lib Dems are coming out with.

There are people who live in a bubble.

Before the internet, it was way more difficult to find people that shared your perversions. Now there are websites for everything and this huge push to pretend every fetish imaginable is so normal that you should be able to be “out and proud” about it.

I think if that’s your world and you live more or less online, it’s easy to misjudge how your actions will be seen by the general public.

Galvantula · 10/11/2019 06:41

I'm actually going to have to vote SNP for the first time. Which I'm not pleased about, with Sturgeon blaring on about how all these votes for the SNP means we need another Scottish referendum. (Like we need something else divisive to piss money away on Angry )

But I'm not voting liberal democrat with this shit show. Never voted Tory. Pointless voting labor in Scotland now, even if you didn't think they were crap too.

What the Feck is wrong with people? :(

I actually can't believe the lib Dems could make themselves look worse by putting this in writing.

Agree that ditching Challenor is just attempted damage control.

BettyRoo · 10/11/2019 07:04

The Scottish government have not shelved their plans on self-ID, they plan to produce a draft bill by the end of the year and consult on it

www2.gov.scot/Topics/Justice/law/17867/gender-recognition-review

I could not find the SNP manifesto on their website but the article about the GE campaign does not mention it. There is an article by Ian Blackford which is slightly woolly in so far as it is about gender which makes it difficult to argue on the grounds of sex - I do not have a problem at all with people who do not fit their sex-related gender presentation, for example, and of course no-one should face discrimination. But once you pick apart that accepting trans people for who they are means that people with intact male genitalia will be legally female much more easily, and the implications for same sex female spaces and protections, then it becomes more difficult. How do you then legislate for and protect the group of people who suffer sex-based discrimination because they are the ones who are penetrable and impregnatable, who suffer greater levels of abuse and poverty because of this? You have to resort to dehumanising language to explain the group of people you mean, when formally the word ‘woman’ would have sufficed.

In terms of policies to address female inequalities, these relate to domestic abuse legislation (which is not making its way into private family law actions, where the law allows coercive control to be perpetuated even after separation) and child care policies, as far as I can see.

None of which relates to Aimee Chanellor of course.

BettyRoo · 10/11/2019 07:06

But yes, I am probably going to vote SNP too because there has been debate and there still will be debate. I am not voting LibDem.

Galvantula · 10/11/2019 07:07

I don't want to not vote, bit none are really appealing at all. :(

Galvantula · 10/11/2019 07:07

At least there are a few dissenting voices in the SNP I suppose...
