It's astonishing bold, as a strategy.

Gordon Bennett. She is absolutely crazy.

teawamutu · 09/11/2019 19:00

Seriously, is she quite well?

SarahTancredi · 09/11/2019 19:05

Was this before or after she tweeted about lesbians pretending to be homosexuals

Wtf

BeMoreMagdalen · 09/11/2019 19:06

You have to wonder, don't you? I don't know anyone, and I know a lot of people from different walks of life, who would say this, ever. Even the very few people I still know who still think being LGB is sinful would still know that if you said this, you'd be a pariah.

And she really thinks she's progressive and intellectual. I just read another tweet where she says lesbians are pretending to be honosexual. The women is on a mission to display the utterly batshit side of genuine bigotry more clearly than any fundy picket could ever do.

She’s quite the bigot.

Hines waving her homophobia around like an achievement...
CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 09/11/2019 19:08

It's a typical strategy isn't it, i have no real answer so I'll insult and then accuse the person asking questions of being a peadophile / pervert when they don't shut up.

Inebriati · 09/11/2019 19:09

For those of you who cant see, there is a long thread about Sally's bizarre comments about lesbians.

Lily tweets;
''Sally, pray, what is your interest in denigrating an organisation to support homosexuals?''

And in response, Sally tweets;
''Well, Lily, pray, who an earth seriously calls themselves ‘homosexual’ these days?''

Inebriati · 09/11/2019 19:12

So do we have to add 'homosexual' to the list of banned words now? Along with 'transsexual' and all the words women use?

BeMoreMagdalen · 09/11/2019 19:17

I keep hearing it in the same voice as the bullies who used to say "Ewww, BeMore is a Lezzer."

CeridwenTheWitch · 09/11/2019 19:21

Wow, unbelievable. I hope that all homosexuals proudly us the term to pushback against such homophobia. I would have thought the word 'homosexual' is much better than 'queer.' It is also an accurate description of gay men and lesbian women, because it describes same sex attraction.

There is no shame in being homosexual. It's like society is going backwards.

Inebriati · 09/11/2019 19:24

Homosexual and heterosexual are formal words that describe sexual orientation. They aren't slang, so I suppose they can sound old fashioned.
But from Sally's other comments I suspect its the meaning Sally objects to as much as the formal language.

Sexnotgender · 09/11/2019 19:25

What the fuck is wrong with homosexual?

Hines is a bloody lunatic.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 09/11/2019 19:28

Stonewall ditched homosexual some time ago because it had nothing to do with gender.

BeMoreMagdalen · 09/11/2019 19:31

Homosexual is a basic description of my orientation.

Queer is an abusive term that some homosexual people have felt able to claim and turn around, but having had it used of me in abuse, I firmly reject.

For Hines to sneer at the basic, unabusive description of my orientation, while gleefully using a term that started out as a slur, was used towards me during a violent incident, and is adopted by lots of people who haven't the slightest interest in romance with members of their own sex, is just the most blatant, eager, dribblingly ignorant anti-gay bigotry I've yet seen.

And so, so characteristic of the Transactivist movement. This is why the LGB Alliance exists you despicable person.

Driechdrizzle · 09/11/2019 19:36

Would be interesting to hear what she thinks are the "correct" words.

She might as well be wearing a badge saying "I'm a homophobe".

Michelleoftheresistance · 09/11/2019 19:40

Good grief she really has lost it. Shock

To paraphrase a comment from that Twitter thread I applaud:

People - thousands and thousands of people - have died for being homosexual, century after century, you utter muppet. What on earth do you think the Gay Rights movement was about?

And yes, I use the word 'homosexual' now, instead of 'lesbian', when I describe myself, because of muppets like you who have confused and muddied the waters around the word 'lesbian' to try to make it socially unacceptable for homosexual women to choose a sexual orientation that excludes people who are biologically male.

GCAcademic · 09/11/2019 19:51

I imagine she has breached her University's dignity at work policy with that naked display of homophobia.

BoneAppleTeaa · 09/11/2019 19:55

This person is mind blowing.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 09/11/2019 20:02

I can't figure out what on earth she was on about with that bonkers line about lesbians pretending to be homosexual. Can anyone shed any light?

ThePurported · 09/11/2019 20:21

Her career depends on the erasure of sexual orientation in favour of gender identity. The EHRC 'trans reading list' includes pretty much everything Hines has ever published.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 09/11/2019 20:22

Her career depends on the erasure of sexual orientation in favour of gender identity.

Bit like the Stonewall lot then.

Creepster · 09/11/2019 20:28

I got a strike October 18th for saying: Transgender advocacy maintains the social hierarchy while redefining homophobia and misogyny as progressive.

Here is an example of it from a university professor staring us in the face. May we please name the behavior we are seeing without retribution from the mods?

BeMoreMagdalen · 09/11/2019 20:28

TheCountess, well, she thinks men can be lesbians, so presumably the idea of women only being attracted to their own sex is risible to her. She's like a latter day Queen Victoria, but with less class than Jenna Coleman.

This woman appears to be a moron.

I thought Sheffield had a good reputation, espicially the Sociology dep, I believe they did good work in the past.I remember recomending my daughter go there. She diden't go to uni in the end, thank Crist.

VickyEadieofThigh · 09/11/2019 20:38

As someone has pointed out on that thread - Hines shows clearly in a couple of tweets exactly why the LGB Alliance has had to be formed.
