It's astonishing bold, as a strategy.

Is she ok though? Used to be funny...

DickKerrLadies · 09/11/2019 20:42

I can't figure out what on earth she was on about with that bonkers line about lesbians pretending to be homosexual. Can anyone shed any light?

To be fair, I can think of a few people who identify themselves as lesbians who are just pretending to be homosexual. Not sure that's what Sal has in mind though...

Chiochan · 09/11/2019 20:43

Its interesting that she admits that she cant understand the concept of a man being concerned about the rights of women. She seems to have so much internalised misogeny that concepts of empathy are beyond her. Bet her uni wish they could give her the push.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 09/11/2019 20:45

Bet her uni wish they could give her the push.

I'd put money on most other people at that uni feel the same as her.

BeMoreMagdalen · 09/11/2019 20:47

Yes, homophobia never really went away. And now it's even on trend.

This might not to be news to you learned lot, but I was interested to see that Sally is the daughter of the late and great Barry, of Kestrel for a Knave (Kes) fame. I wonder if having a famous father but being from Barnsley has pushed her into being 'outrageous' for attention. I say this as a fellow Barnsleyite, without the famous family connections.

Justhadathought · 09/11/2019 20:52

Stonewall ditched homosexual some time ago because it had nothing to do with gender

Yes, it's all about being 'Queer', and Gender-Queer.....

BeMoreMagdalen · 09/11/2019 21:02

Kind of boggles the mind, doesn't it? An organization set up to fight for the rights of people attracted to members of their own sex, because they were excluded from so many things heterosexual took for granted, ends up jettisoning it's core mission and adopting 'Queer' because it's more 'inclusive' of all the people who aren't homosexual and never had to deal with any of that systematic disadvantage.

Veni she has ruined Kes for me.

IsadoraQuagmire · 09/11/2019 21:11

She sounds deranged...

VinandVigour · 09/11/2019 21:14

Wasn’t SH at Leeds Uni before? DH and I both remember listening to her on Woman’s Hour and saying ‘oh that explains it all’ regarding someone who did their social science undergrad at Leeds recently. Was she pushed or (dear God) gain a promotion to go to Sheffield?

ThePurported · 09/11/2019 21:15

It does, but at the end of the day an organisation is the people who run it. It's clear that Stonewall has changed beyond all recognition from what it used to be. Different people, different goals.
What I don't understand is how Sally Hines has become an authority on anything to the extent that she is cited by the EHRC.

What boggled my mind was finding myself spending Lesbian Visibility Day protesting outside a Stonewall conference while the organisers repeatedly tried (and failed) to get the police to remove us. For being visibly lesbian.

GCAcademic · 09/11/2019 21:17

Bet her uni wish they could give her the push.

They obviously offered her a job fairly recently in full knowledge of her batshittery - she was at Leeds last year.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 09/11/2019 21:18

She actually does sound deranged - her tweets are increasingly random and recklessly offensive in the way you might expect from an anonymous tweeter not a university employee tweeting under their own name.
I would not be too surprised if she turned out to either have a drink problem or be in a manic phase of bipolar disorder.

BeMoreMagdalen · 09/11/2019 21:22

Or just a gibbering bigot who finally feels she has enough license to let rip with her distaste for homosexuality. I think there are really quite a lot of those about in wokery.

Maybe we should stop trying to diagnose people or find some reason for why they are behaving the way they are.

I get it, I do, most of us are good people who cant fathom.peope could be so.mean cruel nasty erratic etc

Truth is some.peope are.just plain.awful. and the way trans activism creates some invisibility cloak around some of the nastiest behaviour we can imagine, it was only a matter of time.before the reality of the teflon coating became roo much to handle and people revealed themselves fir who they really were.

BeMoreMagdalen · 09/11/2019 21:33

Yup. If you are a gibbering bigot trying to pass as an open-minded liberal, eventually your mask will slip. The sheer effort involved in hiding your feelings is a mammoth task for them as have cunning intelligence. It's clearly proved too much for Hines, who doesn't even have that.

OP posts:
terfsandwich · 09/11/2019 21:35

She prefers queer because heterosexuals can identify into it.

DuMondeB · 09/11/2019 21:42

Hines is keen to prove herself a true believer in
Genderwoo.

Shaming lesbian and gay people for using unfashionable terms is peak Wokèmon territory.

QuantumEntanglement · 09/11/2019 21:51

Homosexual? So last year, darling.

I had to doublecheck that wasn’t a parody account. My mouth keeps opening and shutting like a goldfish. Open and blatantly unapologetic homophobia, loud and proud in 2019 and she clearly has no fear of any repercussions. Wtf is going on? How did we get here?

nauticant · 09/11/2019 22:08

Gender identity ideology is a developing field that chancers see as a place to make one's name. Make up incomprehensible rubbish at an early stage and with the right kind of leverage and the right contacts you've a good chance to have written a founding paper.

It's got more in common with the 19th land rush in the US than with rigorous academic development.

vaginafetishist · 09/11/2019 22:36

Well I do remember 'homosexual' being looked down upon because it was seen as a bit medical but I use it a lot now purely because it is a clear and accurate description. It's actually become appealing amongst all the 'identify as' bullshit.

BeMoreMagdalen · 09/11/2019 22:54

I recall homosexual being said in the same way Les Dawson would say 'knickers' in that 'mouth the word out but half whisper it' way, because it was embarrassing. It was a word that induced shame because that was how society viewed what it was describing.

Using it with pride now is actually the reclaiming that these horrible people say they are promoting with their use of Queer.

But here's the thing - I had some people say, surprised, "You're homosexual?" and the words stung because they were true. That's shame for you. I had people call me queer while punching me, and that was pure hate. I was never queer. I wasn't a deviant. But I was always homosexual, I just needed to know that was ok. I actually thought we might gave got there as a society. Clearly we haven't.

I cannot understand how this sort of thing isn’t pulling the blinkers from everyone’s eyes. Trans ideology is homophobic, lesbophobic and misogynistic as well as regressive. Sally Hines just shows it so blatantly.
