Yes, it’s by Alison Phipps. I’m afraid I don’t regard her as intellectually honest. She’s one of those academics who defaults to a woke position rather than undertaking sound research.

This seems like an excellent way to gaze at our navels and feel incredibly guilty for just existing and get nothing done.
How about we stop beating ourselves up and do something that helps other women today, women of all ethnicities?
I am so tired of identity politics twisting us in knots. Feminism has already done tons of work on race and class in intersection and continues to do it. Saying, 'lots of feminists are white. White people are bad. Ergo white feminists are bad'... it's just nonsense.
We are women. We have a set of common problems resulting from the physical reality of being women. Let's go and do something about it.

I'm 36 and British Asian. And very gender critical. Many women from ethnic minorities have similar views to me even though they might not consider themselves feminists. In fact, it would not surprise me if many women of colour are more in agreement with various GC viewpoints because we experience patriarchy and sexism in all its naked glory, while in the West, patriarchy and sexism can be more subtle and hidden these days.

I'm surprised by how fashionable it is these days to hate on older, white women. This usually is spouted by other white women. In the words of Alanis Morissette - isn't it ironic?

Is this about Lib Fems who think TWAW? They're mainly white and middle class, aren't they?

The funny thing about 'white feminism' is that it's usually white people who use it to tell off women for feminisming wrong, even to the point where I've seen white women reprimand black women on twitter for being 'white feminists'. There aren't enough emojis in the world for that one.

I have zero interest in the views of anyone who treats 'white' as a homogenous mass. Such people tend to have extremely ill informed and superficial world views.

As a woman of colour I agree with this - I face the same struggles as any woman but if you haven’t been a woman of colour you will never understand what it feels like to be treated as “other” simply because of the amount of melanin in your skin - it’s a double whammy which I don’t find is spoken about enough except by other women of colour.

So I don’t feel the me too movement gives me enough support or hope because of this.

This isn’t anyone’s fault - why should a white woman feel the need to speak up for me. Even my husband is white and doesn’t understand the notion of white privilege.

But it exists.

I say the above as a senior professional in London who has to face my battles with white middle class 40+ men every single day - and not only because I’m a woman but also because of my ethnicity.

I reject the use of 'white feminism' as a slur to those who don't wish to include men's sexual rights activism in their feminism. Being white or not has nothing to do with it. White privilege is relevant when considering issues concerning women and race in feminism, it is completely irrelevant when considering the inclusion of mainly white, men who wish to be recognised as women. TRAs (mainly white) compare their lot to that of black women as a way to manipulative sympathy and provoke guilt. Nothing could be more racist than using black women's oppression as a springboard in this way.
