Judicial review for woman prisoner alleging sexual assault by trans rapist in prison

realitycalling · 03/11/2019 08:29

The Sunday Times reporting a long overdue judicial review after an (alleged) sexual assault on a woman prisoner by a male born trans rapist who had been placed in a female prison. (trying to be careful with language given the oppressive monitors who try to control this board).

And they've reported on the Centre Parks issue as well as a prominent article about that major brands like Unilever and Heinz advertising on Pornhub that's awash with child sex abuse. Share token:

[quote Butterer]There's a lot of enthusiasm on this one about discussing the prison rights and/ or privilege of all people who wear dresses Smile

I dont wear a dress. does that mean I should go to a mens prison in the case of conviction of a crime?

RozWatching · 27/10/2020 23:33

I saw that Butterer
And yet this thread didn't get the same attention Hmm
Too much 'problematic' content here?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/10/2020 00:20

Yes I think you may have hit on it there.

highame · 28/10/2020 07:50

Anyone know whether any journalists are doing commentary on twitter?

EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus · 28/10/2020 09:14

Janice Turner’s tweeted to say she’s going, but I don’t know if she’ll be live tweeting.

Datun · 28/10/2020 09:36

Today's the day.

This is absolutely massive.

Fairplay for Women are today realising the culmination of a lot of hard work.

For anyone who doesn't know, Nic Williams could really do with some extra digging, too.

Fairplay for Women and Keep Prisons Single Sex are both going to be live tweeting.

Crikey, I hope Janice Turner grabs a hold of this with both hands.

This couldn't be more important.

ArabellaScott · 28/10/2020 09:40

Thank you Fair Play and to everyone working on this. Watching for any tweeting/updates.

ArabellaScott · 28/10/2020 09:40
  • and digging.
Datun · 28/10/2020 09:59

Fair Play for Women will be tweeting updates here.

They have provided written evidence today, so are fully conversant with the details.

They are supported by Keep Prisons Single Sex, but not in an official capacity.

They are supported by thousands and thousands of women, too.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/10/2020 10:06

Will be following online.

'it’s precisely because some male sex offenders have a GRC that MOJ says they MUST be housed on the women’s prison estate to have ‘association with other women’'

There we have it, males need access to women's spaces not because of fears for their safeety, it's that they need women to 'associate' with. Support humans, cameos in the role play.

ArabellaScott · 28/10/2020 10:08
  • above from FPFW's Twitter.
RozWatching · 28/10/2020 10:20

Keeping everything crossed!

I hope one day FPFW gets the official recognition it deserves. In the meantime it would be great if BBC and co could stop trying to undermine them. It's despicable, considering what is at stake.

Ugh. It's just disgusting.

And don't forget that women who object, are the sort who 'enjoy conflict'.

Indeed.

Being criticised for to prevent vulnerable women, over 60% of whom have already endured some kind of domestic/sexual violence, from being bloody raped whilst incarcerated in your country's prisons system?

It doesn't get much lower.

Datun · 28/10/2020 10:28

"For to prevent"?

That's Datun nailing the articulation there

DerryWitch · 28/10/2020 10:29

Janice Turner is here. Also Nic Williams. Also the women behind Object! And the new campaign Keep Prisons Single Sex. Also Belstaffie the ex prison officer.

It’s like Avengers Assemble, but way cooler. Good luck everyone. 🤞
littlbrowndog · 28/10/2020 10:44

The avengers assembly. Love it.

It's brilliant. All super heroes.
BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 28/10/2020 11:03

shameless placemark. payday tomorrow so will do a spot of digging then!

Datun · 28/10/2020 11:25

Just reading Fairplay on Twitter. Have I got this right? Is it correct that the wrong, illegal, and bad advice that the MOJ was given won't be disclosed?

RedDogsBeg · 28/10/2020 11:27

Datun I was reading it on the No XY in XX Prisons site and was also confused, I'm guessing SSJ stands for Secretary of State for Justice (?) is the privilege referred to something to do with Parliamentary Privilege?

I don't know. I assumed it was for information that might be considered a little too hot to handle and so the public shouldn't hear about it? A reputation protecting thing. And arse covering thing. A 'we can't let the public see that, it makes us look like twats' thing.
