Bit of an angry outburst on Twitter. Hopefully the link will work.

Well, I started reading that but it was both offensive and dull and one of the most homophobic things I have seen in a while.

OneTerrificMouse · 27/10/2019 08:16

Not true OneTerrificMouse. If they call themselves T and are straight, then they can be in LGBt. Stonewall would say that they’re part of the group.

This is about the LGB Alliance. Not Stonewall. Nothing to do with T.

pachyderm · 27/10/2019 08:17

I came across the rantings of a TRA who'd been involved in destroying Michfest. It was quite the eye opener, with the obsessive mockery of lesbians and their supposed basket weaving yogurt knitting type antics and their earnest feminism. This man didn't really want to be among these women he despised. He hated them and wanted to take away what they had.

Pota2 · 27/10/2019 08:21

Of course someone who is both trans and gay can be in the LGB alliance. It’s just that the alliance is centred exclusively on LGB issues. Same as I can join an interest-group and expect them to focus on their stated objective rather than women’s rights for instance.

AnyOldPrion · 27/10/2019 08:24

I assumed by “technically gay” that Wow meant same sex attracted. See how complicated it becomes when we have no accepted definitions? No wonder anti-woman activists are working so hard to muddy them.

The same one who is awaiting trial for the triple homicide of a lesbian couple and their adopted son* or a different one?

I have no intention of reading anything JF writes. JF is one of, if not the, most dangerous of all trans privilege activists in the UK. JF's narcissism is off the scale.

*whatever did happen to that trial?

pachyderm · 27/10/2019 08:30

Arnold no, a different one. Talking about Camp Trans and how they would patrol the periphery wielding baseball bats and making as much noise as possible. And every so often managing to break in. But y'know brave and stunning, not violent abusive men.

OneTerrificMouse · 27/10/2019 08:36

My assumption is that 'technically gay' means either a male that is trans and is sexually attracted to females [straight] or a female that is trans and sexually attracted to men.

But it could mean actually gay, but identifying as straight.

As we know, confusing language is a key trait of the ideology.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 27/10/2019 08:38

no, a different one

That's depressing but sadly not surprising.

AnyOldPrion · 27/10/2019 08:40

I quite understand, and agree generally with your analysis (though sometimes I wonder whether those manoeuvring completely under the radar, or with great subtlety are the most dangerous of all) I feel it might be important to have a record of such statements. And thanks to the magic of Mumsnet (special thanks to GirlDownUnder) the information is now archived.

OP posts:
ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 27/10/2019 08:41

There is no 'technically gay'. Either Wow is XY attracted to men, or XX attracted to women and therefore homosexual or Wow is XY attracted to women or XX attracted to men and therefore heterosexual.

I know nothing about the poster so cannot say whether they are gay or not, but either they are same sex attracted or they aren't, 'technicalities' don't come into it.

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 27/10/2019 08:45

This is about the LGB Alliance. Not Stonewall. Nothing to do with T. I took that poster to mean they had nowhere to go, if they couldn’t join LGB and was pointing out that they still had LGBt as a group. I assumed the LGB would be geared towards those who are actually gay and not ‘technically’, ie a straight man who identifies as a woman and is attracted to females. So not gay at all.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 27/10/2019 08:51

though sometimes I wonder whether those manoeuvring completely under the radar, or with great subtlety are the most dangerous of all

Thinking about it this is probably true in terms of dangerous in the institutional capture sense and the wider long term effects on society. I was thinking of dangerous in the much narrower sense of 'someone I would avoid because their behaviour is frightening'. But of course the chances of me ever being in the general vicinity of JF for this to be an issue are slim to none, while the institutional capture effects me and everyone else in the real world.

I'm also glad someone is willing to archive ill behaviour, I just don't have the stomach for JF anymore.

Berthatydfil · 27/10/2019 08:53

Just as I was reading that, the tweets all went, and Janes account is now protected.

Berthatydfil · 27/10/2019 08:53

oh, has Jane had a reality check about how homophobic Jane's little rant was?

cold grey light of Sunday morning eh Jane?

SarahTancredi · 27/10/2019 09:16

Wtf Confused

Some ones mighty pissed that same sex attraction and bi sexuality has been defined back as a SEXual definition and not a gender based definition.

The mighty penis doesnt rule all after all.

DoctorTwo · 27/10/2019 09:19

I don't trust anybody who knits that aggressively.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 27/10/2019 09:22

and why only knitting?
why choose that particular hobby to carry out in public? what about decoupage? or lino printing? calisthenics?

or is it that's there's something about knitting and stereotypes that appeals to Jane?

Matereality · 27/10/2019 09:23

The LGB Alliance does not exclude trans people. It focuses on material issues of homosexuality and bisexuality and not trans issues in this instance. Some trans people are indeed conventionally homosexual or bisexual and therefore included if they wish. That they are also trans happens to be incidental here.

Some trans people presumably like birdwatching. The RSPB does not focus on trans issues, nor would anyone expect it to.

As far as I can see, the thread-reader app post is still working, which is why I used that post rather than linking to Twitter.

Failing that, The post is archived on page 2 by GirlDownUnder.

Can’t remember which poster it was on here, but someone expressed the desire to see furiously knitting Fae in a debate with a woman who happened to be welding. A perfect Mumsnetty image.

Grin

brilliant!

Matereality · 27/10/2019 09:33

Oh the knitting. Nobody born female would be taken seriously if they knitted during TV interviews.

Welding...maybe Grin

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 27/10/2019 09:34

Wasn't there a word at one time to describe a person who got at gay and lesbian people by laughing at what they supposedly did in bed? What was it again?

I think Fae will spend the morning looking back over those tweets and gradually realising that what Fae has done there is demonstrate - quite clearly - how homophobic Fae is.
