I've never started a thread like this before, but this is bothering me.

No comments. Just letting the pictures speak.

Spot the transwoman.

How is this fair?

It's unfair, unsporting and unsafe.

We need to keep repeating this, until sporting authorities hear and see sense.

NigellaAwesome · 24/10/2019 10:57

I think Fanny may have referred to someone as he.

UnbowedUnbentUnbroken · 24/10/2019 11:10

snowbear I think you should remove your comment. Those people are born females and have been constantly harassed for not being feminine looking enough.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/10/2019 11:38

As a general point, it really is important to check your facts before posting.

MockersthefeMANist · 24/10/2019 11:52

(Male) professional footballers were seen as tradesmen like any other. The moves to sideline the women's game were part of a general trend after the great war to move the women out and give the men 'their' jobs back.

pejorativelyspeaking · 24/10/2019 11:58

@Doyoumind that photo made me splutter my coffee-I'm so fucking angry about this-so much rage. Bollocks

Awaywiththepiskies · 24/10/2019 12:29

talking about sparkly dresses and shopping for shoes. That isn’t what makes you a woman

It's what men think "being" a woman is. They're very ignorant about:
menstruation
pregnancy
being paid less
being followed as a "normal" thing (see the other thread in here)
cleaning lavatories (see the other thread in here)

FannyCann · 24/10/2019 13:10

What did Fanny say?

I posted an amusing meme from 🥝 farms. I expect they've posted lots more now with competitive photo shopping. But not in the spirit here. Wink

JuneSpoon · 24/10/2019 16:03

Are these transwomen competing in women's professional sports or "just" in the amateur arena?

TemporaryPermanent · 24/10/2019 16:38

I think this thread is interesting. Trying to base acceptance or rejection of people in a category that isnt based on looks, based on how they look, is obviously wrong and this thread kind of shows why that is...

(Unless I’ve misunderstood), it’s not rejecting them on how they look (at least not in the way you are implying). It’s about their larger size/ height/ strength that gives them an unfair and unsafe advantage. The fact that they still look so male demonstrates how far from female some of them are.

No one is bothered by anyone (no matter how masculine) living as a female (or vice versa). Having to say they are something they’re not is a problem to many.

The real issue, however, is them appropriating women's sports (and beating women) when women just can’t compete with them (biologically).

It doesn’t matter what the athletes look like more what sex they are. I feel like this has crept up from out of nowhere. There are quite a few pics here, but it’s just being let to happen when sport is so very stringent on other unfair advantage (drugs for example)

FamilyOfAliens · 24/10/2019 17:28

"I do feel guilty, but what can you do?" she says. "I don't go out to hurt anybody. I just want to play rugby."

I’ll tell you what you can do if all you want is to play rugby, Kelly. Play on the men’s team. Like you used to.

mement0mori · 24/10/2019 18:02

Last go!

This one is a trans man (taking testosterone) in women's sports. They were not allowed to fight with the men due to the rules.

mement0mori · 24/10/2019 18:21

Sorry I see this has already been mentioned in PPs x

YouJustDoYou · 24/10/2019 18:26

It's cheating. They are dirty, dirty, cheaters, and don't care. I hate them.

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 24/10/2019 18:26

Don’t worry mement0mori, it’s worth repeating.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/10/2019 18:31

The 'presentation' of the trans athletes is generally pretty much identical to their female counterparts. It's their physicality which is noticeably different.

Sex, not 'gender'.

TemporaryPermanent · 24/10/2019 18:36

Lemonginger i completely agree with you. I used to compete in a sport where male/female performance differentials are particularly acute, and I'm waiting to see the impact of these changes because if transwomen start swapping into female teams, the impact is going to be huge. But this thread shows that doing it by photos... there are photos that do seem to sum the issue up, and I've looked at them myself (RMcK on podiums for example). But on this thread we see that in sports in particular, at least in still photos, with so much of the trappings of femininity removed (which is one of those things that makes womens sport so valuable), women don't always pass as feminine enough. This thread shows how shit femininity is, it shows how important womens sports are but using still photos as the basis of anything will undermine the gender critical argument. And that's dangerous.

MarshaBradyo · 24/10/2019 18:38

I’m going by the assumption that people know these people are trans women.

If they don’t know but are going by images alone then yes that is flawed.

RainbowCookie · 24/10/2019 18:40

So how come Castor Semenya was banned from competing in athletics, and she is not a trans woman. Do different sports have different rules?

MarshaBradyo · 24/10/2019 18:45

In November 2015, the IOC held a meeting to address both its transgender and hyperandrogenism policies. In regard to transgender athletes it stated that transgender athletes cannot be excluded from an opportunity to participate in sporting competition. Transgender athletes who identified themselves as female would be allowed to compete in that category as long as their testosterone levels were below 10 nanomoles per litre for at least 12 months prior to the competition. There would be no restrictions on transgender athletes who identify and compete as male.

MarshaBradyo · 24/10/2019 18:46

Was just googling sex and professional sport as I’m not up with how they determine sex or if they do

JudasIsMyHomeboy · 24/10/2019 19:18

Most of you sound SO uneducated that it ends up being just funny. Unbelievable that so many people can get together to be this dumb and disrespectful.

FredaFrogspawn · 24/10/2019 19:41

What is dumb and disrespectful?
