If anyone feels the need to communicate with them.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/10/2019 13:22

Seems like the live stream won't carry this race though, only the men's events tonight, so we won't get to see it.

There's a surprise.Hmm

SecondRow · 18/10/2019 13:24

I noticed on Naomi Lovesay’s Facebook that she and Dawn Orwick both congratulated each other, was nice to see Smile

Naomi also said she was looking forward to Friday, hope she’s okay.

I don't know much about RM apart from this current masters races. Do we know RM's history - were they competing/trying to compete in men's cycling before turning to the women's races? How long ago did RM decide to identify as a woman and was RM cycling/competing before that?

It's amazing how you can't race in a different age category from the date you were born but you can race in a different sex category that you were born as.

ForeverFaff · 18/10/2019 13:42

The posts on the Facebook page are 100% in favour of sex segregated sports! Won't be long until the TRA's pile on, but for now it's just regular people astonished that a male is taking part in the women's race.

StrangeLookingParasite · 18/10/2019 13:44

They tend to be muscular rather than Lardy though :-)

GB Women win gold at the Euros:

Laura Kenny (2nd left) is 5ft 4 and 52 kg.
Kate Archibald, far right, is a relative giant at 5ft 10 and 67kg.

I watched the Sky clip. The interviewer (Martha Kelner?) clearly sees the batshit injustice for what it is. Refreshing, given the BBCs utter collusion.

If anyone would like to contact British Cycling’s Ethics and Compliance Manager about the unfair inclusion of TW in women’s cycling his email is

"I don't know much about RM apart from this current masters races. Do we know RM's history"

The problem with RM to be honest is trying to figure out what is true.
RM says that they used to play badminton and golf to elite standards when they were young, and then elite poker (you need to be damn fit to play that sport), but prior to making the switch they had never cycled. Prior to track racing which RM only took up last year, they did a bit of road racing, but only did well on flat course (hills are a real bugger when you are on the large side).
They started racing in 2015 and started on the track in 2018, the same year they wone their first World Masters Champs.

McKinnon started to transition in 2012.

MockersthefeMANist

Thanks for posting that image and giving the women's weights, it really puts things in perspective.
I was wondering if there was a current elite woman track sprinter who is nearing or in RM's age category. There is one who stands out at the moment - Lee Wai Sze aged 32 from Hong Kong. She won the real World Championship Gold medal in 10.662 (1 second quicker than RM) She is a real giant at 5' 3" and 54kg.

Simona Krupeckaite of Lithuania is 36 years old and did 10.945, so she would be in RM's category and would be the World record holder - unless I can find any more.

Did anyone else realise that RM got a bye through to the semi final?

RM is also Canadian now - wasn't RM American on Tuesday?

morrisseysquif · 18/10/2019 17:53

This would give the rage if I were in line for a medal. How did they define woman, is it anybody who 'defines themselves as a woman' or do they have to have started to transition?

MockersthefeMANist · 18/10/2019 17:55

How did they define woman?

Any bloke who goes on the pill.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 18/10/2019 18:16

Btw: I have read that Naomi Lovesay was sick? Hence her DNS.

I hope she recovers soon ThanksBikeThanks

The news & features editor of cycling weekly asked on twitter if he agrees with RM being allowed to race says this

twitter.com/vernpitt/status/1185240161317277696?s=21

“It’s not something I know much about”

Oh please!!!!! Spineless springs to mind

MockersthefeMANist · 18/10/2019 18:18

If ever anyone deserved a "What exactly do we pay you for?" message...

WomaninBoots · 18/10/2019 19:35

I was reading a thread on a running forum I used to be on about transwomen in women's sport... there was a lot of handwringing about how "complex and sensitive" it all is and a lot of "I don't know enough to comment" fence sitting. Plus one brave woman saying no and everyone calling her aggressive for doing so. That woman is no longer on the forum and I wish I could contact her and give her a pat on the back!

I came to the conclusion that "I don't know enough to comment" is code for "I don't think its right but I'm scared to say so in case Im ostracized for it". The magazine editor is thinking about paying his mortgage and not losing his job. Which I can understand! But it's depressing.

I think many people are afraid of being accused as transphobic and repercussions of that, I certainly am. I will retweet comments made by others but I won't make them myself.

What's a Twitter ratio? I've seen a meme posted 'just here for the ratio' and mentioned on here too. Is it something to do with number of likes?

AskMeHow · 18/10/2019 20:54

Yeah likes/retweets Vs replies

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 18/10/2019 21:09

Just to point out the Worlds FB page seems to have AGAIN deleted their photo + all the documents on the result earlier. I have had the tab open all day keeping an eye on the comments and now there is an error message.

Absolutely spineless. You made this rule, have the guts to stand by it and defend it you cowards.
