I think it has been proven before that saying you feel disabled, a different ethnicity or a different age doesn't cut the mustard. Only 'woman' is a category open to all :-(

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 16/10/2019 15:08

Dammit. I was looking forward to being in the gymnastics team. Bugger.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 16/10/2019 16:11

A general observation:

I have seen parts of my OP quoted verbatim across multiple channels by multiple different people today.

Sure some of them are undoubtedly MNers but either way, the word is out and people are spreading it!

I did mean to say congratulations to the top three women cyclists in the event - Dawn Orwick, Naomi Lovesay, Kirsten Herup Sovang.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 16/10/2019 16:56

I've been looking at the winner's across the age ranges and it's so inspirational to see older people smashing it. Congratulations to the three female winners of that race.

It's not inspirational to see McKinnon though. It's depressing.

Saw this on that thread too:

www.the-star.co.ke/counties/rift-valley/2019-10-15-transgender-case-athlete-denies-impersonating-nurse-at-moi-referral-hospital/

^ apparently an athlete too!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 16/10/2019 17:07

Well I spotted someone I trained with years ago on twitter and he is incandescent about this event! I never know he was such a feminist!

FannyCann · 16/10/2019 19:23

Does this mean McKinnon can no longer claim the title of world champion?

mcduffy · 16/10/2019 19:45

Will McK have to take down that sign (in the bathroom? Can't remember exactly but think it was "What would a world champion do?")

2Rebecca · 16/10/2019 19:46

I think it was the sprint McK won last year which is on Friday

feelingverylazytoday · 16/10/2019 19:56

Congratulations to the top 3 women, Dawn, Naomi and Kirsten, especially Dawn. I bet that pissed McKinnon off!
We can only hope that justice is done one day, and the records are corrected, even though Naomi and Kirsten were denied their rightful places on the podium. And lets not forget the woman who was denied a place in the race thanks to McKinnon.

RiotAndAlarum · 16/10/2019 19:56

Indeed, @LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD

RiotAndAlarum · 16/10/2019 20:05

Oops, pressed send. Yes, funny how letting some men into "feminism" doesn't gatekeep against others, who believe in material reality and who are, no doubt, just as pissed off at seeing the exceptions made for women used by men. All-women shortlists might be acceptable if truly all-women, but if not... no.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 16/10/2019 20:15

What would a world champion do?

Ooh ooh I know! Is it 'whinge about how I could have won if I had been two hundredths of a second faster which I could have done obviously because I am amazing?' Is it?

NotTerfNorCis · 16/10/2019 21:42

Congrats Dawn, Naomi and Kirsten! GrinCakeWineStar

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 17/10/2019 15:14

SarahTancredi "Wonder why they didnt hang around afterwards. Just handed someone.their cup and walked off alone.

According to another website we can't name, apparently , the "someone" was their date. A tw called Halcyon Ember who is some kind of elf/computer game identity? (I am not a gamer so not 100%)

Please do all search out the comments and observations on the fruit-based website. They are very informative.

Anybody know what McK did to be found guilty of violating Twitter's rules against hateful conduct?

'yes I totally should be on the visually impaired football team because I feel blind'.

I know I'm being a pedant and a bit of a cow, but the VI football teams have to wear a blindfold to equalise things.

Oj and a few years ago Canada had a completely able bodied wheelchair basketball team.

WrathofSIxFootSIxElfKlop · 18/10/2019 08:02

I am considering sending congratulations postcards to the real top three medallists.

Postcards with a succinct message of congrats- to be seen by all people who handle the cards in the post and the cycling clubs.

sashh · 18/10/2019 08:07

OOO that's a good idea, perhaps we can do a mass mail out - any ideas on the address?

I think people appreciate it when you take notice, I made a really small donation to Kelly Holmes' charity and said why I was donating, after I got the usual 'thank you' email I got another with 'personal thanks'

WrathofSIxFootSIxElfKlop · 18/10/2019 09:26

To be inundated with offline messages of support feels very subversive.

It is subversive. Good.

"To take a British example, look at Victoria Pendleton, an Olympic champion with teeny tiny legs."

Said no woman ever.
