CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS - Manchester

Sicario · 10/10/2019 10:00

Heads up - cycling championships in Manchester this weekend, which I hope will be televised so everyone can see that there is a male competing in the female category.

The male competitor has been bragging about setting new records and personal bests in the female category.

I am going to get as many men to watch this as possible, to shed as much light on this as I can. I will be asking local pubs to play it on their TVs. (No pun intended.)

I also hope that no woman will be forced to smile on a podium with a cheat.

It's not on Eurosport.

It's really not that important.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 10/10/2019 10:25

It's really not that important.

It's not important that elite sport competition is now a mockery because male bodied people can compete in the women's event and small all records, meaning that women have no hope of ever competing in their chosen discipline?

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 10/10/2019 10:28

I think Mockers means it isn't an important enough event to be on telly.

If it's the McKinnon thing I think it's a seniors event, which are not generally televised.

aliasundercover · 10/10/2019 10:38

I doubt you'll be able to find it on tv, it's not really elite level. I'm sure the papers will be full of stories about how stunning and brave RM is though.
As a cyclist I"m offended by two things connected to this event:

1: Men are allowed to win the women's event

2: The winner gets to wear the rainbow stripes. That should be reserved for real world champions.

andyoldlabour · 10/10/2019 12:47

There may be daily coverage on this site. A year on from my introduction to all this, and I still cannot believe the insanity of it all.

Thank you @andyoldlabour

Is this person Rachel McKinnon or someone else?

Sicario · 10/10/2019 13:36

Yup.

I saw RM bragging about setting more world records in the women's competition on Twitter too.
Sociopath.

Qcng · 10/10/2019 13:39

But I think his bragging only serves to piss more people off, and people are turning.

Qcng · 10/10/2019 13:41

Oh FFS^
HER not his, massive apologies and head bowing etc and huge retraction of statement and possibly even getting on knees and bowing at feet. You get the idea.

MockersthefeMANist · 10/10/2019 13:55

World Best Times.

Not World Records.

Qcng · 10/10/2019 13:58

Oh well that's fine then Confused

ForeverFaff · 10/10/2019 14:01

@Qcng you made the silly mistake of believing what your senses, brain and all historical human interactions were telling you, instead of what a man told you to think. Fool.
Go and prostrate yourself some more.

MockersthefeMANist · 10/10/2019 14:03

A World Best is an age-group record, or some non-recognised event such as the 399 metres or the limbo-steeplechase. They are to world records what a dodgy PhD is to being a real Doctor.

Qcng · 10/10/2019 14:13

In RMs own words. Aiming for a world record that will be easy for RM. I don't think it'll be insignificant to the women who lose out, somehow.

If you follow the Cycling Masters Facebook page you can see the competitors. There is not many in each category, especially as the cyclists move up in age.
I’m with you @aliasundercover, it offends me that people like McKinnon are allowed to wear rainbow stripes. Other notable rainbow stripe wearers are Lizzie Deignan and Mark Cavendish who are a universe away from McKinnon in ability and grace.

Pthagonal · 10/10/2019 23:54

Ram's first race is on the 15th, according to a poster on 🥝 farms.

Pthagonal · 10/10/2019 23:55

Err, Ram's is an autocorrect for RM. Sorry I didn't spot it before I posted. Blush

GirlDownUnder · 11/10/2019 01:39

Not quite the non-event or to be downplayed as nothing important. From RMs twitter for further elucidation.

I feel the need to join in the fangirling - something along the lines of "Yay inclusion. Go inclusion. Isn't it great that all sports now include peen. Including (yay more inclusion) the ones for people without peen."

Maybe we'll get a spot in the Paralympics. The Y2 category. Y because we're deficient in Y chromosomes (the default human position) and 2 for the second class status we've always had. Yay, go us.

Of course then the transablist movement will get in on the act and people with Y chromosomes who feel like they oughtn't to have Y chromosomes will compete...

Oh Brave New World, to have such creatures in it.

DuMondeB · 11/10/2019 09:03

It’s absolutely pissing with rain in MCR today.

Welcome to town, Rach!

aliasundercover · 11/10/2019 09:21

it's been said before, but I don't like the 'LGBT inclusion' stuff. There are no issues with 'LGB' so don't use those initials to gain support. The problem is T.
