I think Jane may be unhappy about something or other. Can't think what /s

All the classics are there: right wing funding, denyong people's existence...

As a procession of journalists/not-journalists continue to shill unashamedly, unquestioningly for the gender crits, a pattern, some background that the former seem blithely ignorant of.

A thread.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180766181885698050?s=19

They – the gender crits – declared they only wanted to talk, while setting up a batch of pseudo-organisations and so-called charity platforms, little more than social media groups, that blatantly excluded mainstream trans voices.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180766498249465857?s=19

They – the gender crits – said it was all about the Gender Recognition Act and women's concerns....while their leading lights talked openly about removing ALL rights from trans people and driving us out of existence - and journalists/not-journalists said nothing.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180766702352654337?s=19

They – the gender crits – caricatured any GRA changes as ushering in an armageddon for women, while seemingly unaware, ignorant, or lying that the changes proposed did nothing to affect rights trans people had exercised for decades, with no problem.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180766856250044416?s=19

They – the gender crits – happily scooped up hundreds of thousands in funding, including significant donations from far right Christian fundamentalists with an anti-woman agenda, while claiming it was all about defending women.

And journalists/not-journalists said nothing.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180767075989643264?s=19

They – the gender crits – set out on a campaign of publicity stunts designed to exclude trans people from public spaces, while journalists/not-journalists treated it all as a bit of a lark.

A thing to debate politely in two minute set piece televised confrontations.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180767308576374785?s=19

They – the gender crits – paint trans women as sexual deviants, while erasing the validity of trans men and non-binary existence.

Publicly, they endorsed a campaign that incited taxi drivers and bikers to use violence against trans people. Because they only wanted to talk.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180767618074058752?s=19

They – the gender crits – set about invading any and every trans space, intimidating trans folk, denying trans people the safety they demand for themselves.

But it was only about women's concerns.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180767830712705024?s=19

They – the gender crits – initiated a co-ordinated campaign to make it harder/impossible for young trans and gender questioning people to get support in schools. And journalists/ not-journalists said it was just another debate.

how anyone can then claim to be a feminist is beyond me, when all their daily activity points towards harming women

yes. I did point this out to the BBC when they billed JF as a 'feminist'. got the standard gaslighty reply

words have meanings. Fae ain't no feminist

DuMondeB · 07/10/2019 15:09

Really? I got a deletion from a Wikipedia copy and paste?

ShouldBeCookingDinner · 07/10/2019 16:01

I agree, awareness of creepiness is not the same as finding someone unattractive. I get that creepy feeling too. It's wrong to tell people to ignore their instincts, we often ignore them as it is and wish we hadn't! I experience uncanny valley sometimes...totally normal reaction when the brain receives contradictory information. We can also feel that we are being lied to when we see one thing but are being expected to see another, and that sends the red flags waving.

OrchidInTheSun · 07/10/2019 16:57

Has Fae actually provided any evidence for their allegations? Or are they still just promised.

TobyandLottiesmum · 07/10/2019 17:00

Read the thread on Twitter....Fae is blocking anyone asking for proof of these insane claims

Ereshkigal · 07/10/2019 17:28

have had a response from MN, they apparently had “a number of complaints

I bet they did.

Melroses · 07/10/2019 18:02

Fairy tales are a centuries-old means of teaching children vital lessons, particularly around danger. One of their functions was to help children (especially girls) to listen to their instincts about threat, not to be foolishly trusting or automatically believe those who present themselves and their intentions as benign.
I read all the fairy tale books from the library. Most of them are not about frogs that turn into princes Wink

SunsetBeetch · 07/10/2019 18:24

Jane Fae identifies as an 'elf princess' in their twitter bio. Make of that what you will.

OP posts:
BeMoreMagdalen · 07/10/2019 18:29

It would be really childish of me to make an elf on the shelf joke, wouldn't it?

BarbaraStrozzi · 07/10/2019 18:37

Let's try phrasing this a different way.

Trigger warning for extreme sexual violence.

Suppose someone had a long track record of defending extreme porn. Including defending the writing of fantasies about real women (members of a girl band) in which the writer imagined dismembering these women and sexually assaulting the body parts. This defender of extreme porn also advocated the lowering of the age at which "actors" were allowed to take part in pornographic film making from 18 to 16.

This is not the sort of person I personally would want to be in an enclosed space with. Ever.

And that's based on that hypothetical person's track record of publications and interests and advocacy.

Melroses · 07/10/2019 18:52

The evidence based approach is best.

OrchidInTheSun · 07/10/2019 18:54

Fae exudes malevolence. I've never been in the same room but it's apparent even on tv. When you read about some people's backgrounds, it's really surprising. Other times, it's like a lightbulb going on.

For those that haven't, I recommend reading the earlier thread that was linked to. There is a really interesting point here about putting aside our 'spidery senses' in order to appear inclusive or just right on.

I know of a depressing number of women who have been sexually assaulted by men who were leading lights in their political parties. Some of those women put aside their feelings of discomfort because they were told that this man is important and should be listened to.

As others have said, women ignore those feelings at our peril (and those of our children).

And I'm really sorry about what happened to your child @SirVixofVixHall. That's horrific. Well done for keeping your children safe.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 19:14

Elf eh? Uhuh.

I never liked the goblins in Noddy.

BatShite · 07/10/2019 19:17

Eh? There have been a fair few trans public speakers, and also I am quite sure I remember a few groups actively trying to get a TRA to debate. But it was all 'nodebate'. So because they scream 'no debate bigots' it makes it our fault that they don't show up for talks?! Bizarre logic.

They – the gender crits – said it was all about the Gender Recognition Act and women's concerns....while their leading lights talked openly about removing ALL rights from trans people and driving us out of existence

As usual, this 'they want us to disappear' or 'think we dont exist!!!'

We want to remove ALL rights from transpeople now do we? Which ones? Specifics would be good Jane.

LangCleg · 07/10/2019 19:23

This is not the sort of person I personally would want to be in an enclosed space with.

I think you're allowed to say that. What you're not allowed to do is mention anyone else with a related track record that you might also not want to be in a room with.

This is what we're reduced to - on a feminist forum.

For fucking shame.

Creepster · 07/10/2019 19:26

Why oh why won't the feminists be civil when talking about the pornsick predators who identify as not men? Have they no proper gratitude for the heroic efforts expended to keep them properly civil?

SirVixofVixHall · 07/10/2019 21:42

“Exudes malevolence “
That is what I was trying to say , thank you for expressing it better. There are a number of people we may occasionally come across in life who also exude malevolence, they may behave in different ways, their history could be different, but the fear they invoke in us is the same.

I did mull over getting an Irish Wolfhound, as I had read that they can sense malevolent intent. I felt that would be back up... !

TemporaryPermanent · 07/10/2019 22:05

What's a pseudo organisation?

An organisation is a group of people gathered for a purpose. Disagreeing with the purpose doesn't make an organisation a pseudo organisation. Thinking that the participants, because members of a commercial website, are vapid women who don't understand politics doesn't make it a pseudo organisation, it just means that your feminism is quite likely to be pseudo feminism.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 07/10/2019 22:18

What's a pseudo organisation?

It's spin is what it is, an attempt an manipulating the reader. And it's only going to work on people who already agree with Fae. Anyone else reading that is going to see the "how dare these women not do what they're told?" coming off that rant in waves.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 08/10/2019 09:02

Oh Lord! Surely everyone can see there's nothing remotely unsettling about a lovely knitting nana elf princess, who battles to defend violent pornography.

Sounds like a bizarre Lord of the Rings rewrite.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/10/2019 09:10

The question being who currently has possession of the cock ring of doom.

(I'll see myself out.)

KatvonHostileExtremist · 08/10/2019 09:14

The cock ring of doom Grin sputter

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/10/2019 09:17

Was going to do the Frodo with the 9 fingers and the ring of doom song with the knitting but humor is considered not in the spirit, so.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 08/10/2019 09:17

Anyway elfy has posted a gotcha

We are all murdering orcs because, wait for it, it's really honestly terrible.....
One person on Twitter wasn't sympathetic to a transwoman on a bus who was abused by MEN.

Right, anyway I'm off to murder some hobbits. Laters.

God, have our vagina based mind control beams via which we control the behavior of all men failed again? Shame on us.
