Astonishing thread from Jane Fae, Darvo at its finest.

I think Jane may be unhappy about something or other. Can't think what /s

All the classics are there: right wing funding, denyong people's existence...

As a procession of journalists/not-journalists continue to shill unashamedly, unquestioningly for the gender crits, a pattern, some background that the former seem blithely ignorant of.

A thread.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180766181885698050?s=19

They – the gender crits – declared they only wanted to talk, while setting up a batch of pseudo-organisations and so-called charity platforms, little more than social media groups, that blatantly excluded mainstream trans voices.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180766498249465857?s=19

They – the gender crits – said it was all about the Gender Recognition Act and women's concerns....while their leading lights talked openly about removing ALL rights from trans people and driving us out of existence - and journalists/not-journalists said nothing.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180766702352654337?s=19

They – the gender crits – caricatured any GRA changes as ushering in an armageddon for women, while seemingly unaware, ignorant, or lying that the changes proposed did nothing to affect rights trans people had exercised for decades, with no problem.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180766856250044416?s=19

They – the gender crits – happily scooped up hundreds of thousands in funding, including significant donations from far right Christian fundamentalists with an anti-woman agenda, while claiming it was all about defending women.

And journalists/not-journalists said nothing.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180767075989643264?s=19

They – the gender crits – set out on a campaign of publicity stunts designed to exclude trans people from public spaces, while journalists/not-journalists treated it all as a bit of a lark.

A thing to debate politely in two minute set piece televised confrontations.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180767308576374785?s=19

They – the gender crits – paint trans women as sexual deviants, while erasing the validity of trans men and non-binary existence.

Publicly, they endorsed a campaign that incited taxi drivers and bikers to use violence against trans people. Because they only wanted to talk.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180767618074058752?s=19

They – the gender crits – set about invading any and every trans space, intimidating trans folk, denying trans people the safety they demand for themselves.

But it was only about women's concerns.

twitter.com/JaneFae/status/1180767830712705024?s=19

They – the gender crits – initiated a co-ordinated campaign to make it harder/impossible for young trans and gender questioning people to get support in schools. And journalists/ not-journalists said it was just another debate.

At the risk of breaking those rules, I'd tend to assume that if someone has a strong enough interest in a particular porn category to campaign for keeping it legal they may also have an interest in enacting the same behavior irl.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 21:03

And yes, I realize that men tend to forget this but the women who appear in porn are actual people who can be and often are harmed. They're not CGI.

DuMondeB · 06/10/2019 21:14

Mind your eggshell skulls, wimmin! Might be best to don a hard hat.

So many questions:

  1. How can I tell if I have an egg shell skull?
  2. Is it my duty to inform someone hitting me of this condition that could lead to him being charged unfairly with murder?
  3. Is it his duty to ask before he hits me?
  4. If he sneaks up behind me is it still my fault as I should have been wearing a sign of some sort?
  5. Why isn't the 'Humpty Dumpty defence' used more often in court?
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 22:24
  1. Why do I get the feeling that "he had eggshell balls, your honor" would be far less likely to stand up in court?
ALittleBitofVitriol · 06/10/2019 22:29

Actual lol at 'painting as deviants' - on the internets, you can hardly move for their* own posts on the matter...

*general 'their'

ALittleBitofVitriol · 06/10/2019 22:36

Maybe try 'marshmallow balls' instead, Kittens?

pachyderm · 06/10/2019 22:37

Have to chime in to agree. JF gives me a cold sinking feeling wired into people of my sex after 1000s of years of evolution to warn us of danger. Absolute pure instinct and I've learned not to ignore it. Gavin de Becker's "The Gift of Fear" is a good primer on the topic.

Ereshkigal · 06/10/2019 22:49

You're not seeing it because you're a man. If you're a woman? Fae wins by a mile. The Special Rules will not allow me to explain why.

Yes, I'm with you on this.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/10/2019 22:55

And a big part of the impetus behind trans activism is to a. render it impossible for women to name or explain that feeling, b. make us feel guilty about it and force us to try to bite down our natural impulse to get the hell away from the danger we sense and c. if all else fails, legally compel us to remain in potentially dangerous situations with the people whom every instinct is telling us to run away from.

The goal isn't to help the nice, relatively harmless femmey gay boys. That has never been the goal. Most women get along fine with the femmey gay boys, and don't have to be guilt tripped or legally compelled into being around them.

KizzyWayfarer · 07/10/2019 08:14

That quote in the screenshot... ‘domestic violence “gone wrong”’
To be contrasted, obviously, with domestic violence when it doesn’t “go wrong” - presumably considered an unproblematic hobby...

SirVixofVixHall · 07/10/2019 09:19

Yes. I what does JF think is “domestic violence gone well” ?

Ereshkigal · 07/10/2019 09:21

Where women are successfully disciplined without breaking any bones if possible.

SirVixofVixHall · 07/10/2019 09:31

Indeed.
Random “I” in my post due to pre-caffeinated state..

OrchidInTheSun · 07/10/2019 09:34

I suspect domestic violence gone right is when you leave no visible bruises. The sort of DV which is beloved by middle class men who have a public image to maintain.

Tyrotoxicity · 07/10/2019 09:55

Waterl00 thanks for posting the link to the breakdown of our evil right-wing funding sources. I've been looking forward to it.

It seems to contain just two points: that anonymous donations are sometimes considerably larger than a tenner; and that Hands Across the Aisle is doing exactly what it says on the tin.

Someone should probably tell JP that you don't have to be a right wing fundamentalist American nutter to think it's worth everyone temporarily pulling in the same direction on an issue of mutual importance, and that finding common ground isn't actually a bad thing.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 07/10/2019 10:00

The assumption that religious = right wing is an interesting one.

Historically there have been many progressive movements where religious groups were at the forefront.

JF is not a very curious person evidently. Probably all the porn JF watches has limited JF ability to learn about the wider world.

SirVixofVixHall · 07/10/2019 10:10

Quaker family ancestor helped abolish slavery. I also get v angry at the equating of religion with the far right.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 07/10/2019 10:15

Hands Across The Aisle infuriates because it demonstrates the fact that women of all political affiliations have shared concerns that we might choose to work on together. Concerns that not only aren't shared by Fae but that are in fact directly in conflict with what Fae wants.

It's a double whammy of "not one of us" and "btw not going to cooperate with your demands either".

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 07/10/2019 10:21

Quite, SirVix.

Perhaps JF could start by reading up on the rather lovely Mr Peter Norman, 200m silver medallist at the 1968 Olympics. He, a white Australian, stood in solidarity with two black Americans because it was the Christian thing to do. It effectively cost him his career. Those two black Americans were pallbearers at his funeral.

And my comment that quoted Vix is gone too, because God forbid women be able to discuss their shared fear of a rather alarming person.
