The first time I met someone who wanted to "detransition" was over thirty years ago. There was no support for him then, and precious little sympathy. He was a man with complex MH problems who couldn't admit that he was simply gay (something else not afforded much support or sympathy at the time). In any case, surgery had by then already made it impossible for him to return to his original state.
You would hope that times might have changed for the better, wouldn't you? If anything, it's worse now because the whole trans subject is now so polarised and sensible debate is shut down at every opportunity.
I feel desperately sorry for those who are detransitioning or are desperate to do so. They are not only struggling with the real issues - the ones that could never be solved by hormone treatment and surgery anyway, the ones sold a deeply damaging lie - but they will be viciously targeted by others for exposing the truth about the brave and stunning narrative.
