The first time I met someone who wanted to "detransition" was over thirty years ago. There was no support for him then, and precious little sympathy. He was a man with complex MH problems who couldn't admit that he was simply gay (something else not afforded much support or sympathy at the time). In any case, surgery had by then already made it impossible for him to return to his original state.

You would hope that times might have changed for the better, wouldn't you? If anything, it's worse now because the whole trans subject is now so polarised and sensible debate is shut down at every opportunity.

I feel desperately sorry for those who are detransitioning or are desperate to do so. They are not only struggling with the real issues - the ones that could never be solved by hormone treatment and surgery anyway, the ones sold a deeply damaging lie - but they will be viciously targeted by others for exposing the truth about the brave and stunning narrative.

Not at all surprised but feel so sad for the young people that have been manipulated and caught up in this madness. I hope this gets widely reported.

Just as a general point, how amazing is Charlie?

To go through all that herself and have the courage to take on the fight on behalf of others.

She knows she'll be a target for doing this. And she does it anyway. Women are awesome.

You can buy supporter tickets for the event. This means that a free ticket can be given to other detransitioners who could not otherwise afford to attend. Good way of showing support.

Sunlight and fresh air. Parliament needs to act to put statutory regulation onto these ‘treatments’ being proposed for increasing numbers of children. These young people are so brave to speak up. But their suffering was avoidable, they should not have been put in this situation in the first place. Doctors and their child patients are being lobbied by a self interested, adult political lobby to push gender non conforming kids innone direction only- not investing in talking therapy and support- but rushing into permanent health effects from puberty stopping medication, taking opposite sex hormones and surgery. Where is the evidence that this even helps these children? And if they change their minds what support is there for them?

I saw this and I was impressed by the language used. So Joe Public would actually understand what was being said. They also mentioned autism.

Sky News love an argument, so if they do decide to run with this issue, I can imagine we will see lots of debates on it.

Terf everything else Sky News has done has been very one sided.

JP has been getting very angry on twitter about it and claiming Charlie never really transitioned. As proof, JP has posted a picture of Charlie looking feminine as proof she couldn't have been living as a man.

Literally every day we see men claiming to be living as women who have beards and look nothing like women but we are told it's their inner identity and not outer presentation that counts 🤔 We aren't allowed to question someone's identity ever and certainly not based on their looks. More illogical logic.

I do hope Charlie is careful about her security.

She is evidence of the harms of the trans ideology. She is an apostate. And she has gone public. She has followers. She is female.

Those five things make her a target of the True Believers.

I always knew transing children would be the sticking point, along with putting rapists in women's prisons and 'transwomen' in women's sports. All of these things are indefensible, unless you want to look like a massive arsehole of course. And most people don't.

Lorimer runs a private practice called Gender Care.

Also works for the NHS Gender Identity Clinic at Charing Cross as a consultant psychiatrist.

I'm so pleased that Charlie has spoken out and I hope they are being well supported.

This is a child abuse scandal and I just hope this article can save other children from going through such pain and misery.

Any adult who endorses this and exploits children and their families is an abuser.

As soon as this charity is started, I look forward to NHS information pages, Mermaids, Stonewall, all the various Prides, NSPCC, all the many other places that reference organisations to do with this issue, all including this new charity’s details and referring to the likelihood of desisting/detransitioning.

How a psychiatrist does not see any problem with such cultish behaviour around him absolutely defeats me. He makes me shudder.
