I’m offering this without comment, mainly because my jaw is still on the floor.

Goodness me

gendered intelligence. Dangerous sexist speak, or simply more aesopian language.

OhHolyJesus · 04/10/2019 20:20

Well Gilly they're not the only ones - everyone from Debbie Hayton to the EHRC seems to think kids with gender dysphoria have more rights than those that don't.

I have explored this too much for my area as my child isn't in school yet but I'm very interested to hear how you get on. I think a number of parents are making inquiries so if enough difficult questions are asked hopefully common sense will return.

GillyWeasel · 07/10/2019 08:39

Had response from chief executive of WCC

Obviously a stock response, it refers to ‘All about Me’ which is not what I referenced, it was Respect Yourself as this corresponds to the age of my child.
They are saying that ‘this piece of journalism is full of inaccuracies’ Never did I ask about any news stories, I simply linked to the website with the disturbing language. Is the evidence there in front of their eyes not accurate? Presuming I have been reading a news story and not been able to do my own research.
They take children’s safety very carefully and are reviewing All About Me and obviously wouldn’t endorse anything harmful to children.
Not good enough, will be replying.

Cuntysnark · 07/10/2019 09:01

Well done Gilly.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 07/10/2019 09:06

Well done Gilly - and of course you got a generic response because if the Chief Executive actually addressed your questions they would have to acknowledge the truth that some porn sex acts are being presented positively to children on their watch.
So it will be deflect, deflect, deflect.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 07/10/2019 09:58

The Chief Exec would have delegated the complaint and then just signed the letter put in front of him. The person who generated the response could well be the person promoting the material. Write back, copying the complaints department asking for it to be escalated to their stage two complaints procedure.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 07/10/2019 09:58

Then after that go to the Local Government Ombudsman

Birdsfoottrefoil · 07/10/2019 09:59

Though if you have complained to the monitoring officer about legality then you might be able to go to the LGO straight away.

Dontgobacktorockville · 07/10/2019 16:19

Great Gilly, for pursuing.

HandsOffMyRights · 07/10/2019 16:43

Monica Fogarty emailed one stock response (she clearly didn't read my complaint as she referred to All About Me rather than Respect Yourself).

I followed this up with her a week ago but have heard nothing back.

GillyWeasel · 07/10/2019 17:22

MP local to school is saying they can’t act for me as I am not a constituent. Will wait response from my MP
Have contacted WCC children’s safeguarding and Cllr Seccombe and head teacher has acknowledged email and will respond soon
If no joy then yes, I will make complaint

Birdsfoottrefoil · 07/10/2019 17:44

Always copy in the complaints department as then the complaint will be recorded.

Gilly if your email to WCC children’s safeguarding was one of dissatisfaction then it should count as a complaint; you should then request any followup be dealt with at stage two of their complaints process. Whoever you complain to at WCC it still counts as a complaint to WCC

Ifonlyus · 08/10/2019 06:27

Well done for continuing to pursue this Gilly.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 09/10/2019 10:54

Have you seen the post about this in AIBU? There is a petition.

Newuser123123 · 09/10/2019 11:25

Yes I've just seen the petition and shared it on our local mums Fb group
I've only had a stock response from the council so far

SheStoodInTheStorm · 09/10/2019 11:43

Is there anything similar for the All About Me programme and it's inappropriateness?

Newuser123123 · 09/10/2019 13:36

Uuugh, somewhat predictably I am now getting grief and shouts of TERF on Facebook 😭

Birdsfoottrefoil · 09/10/2019 15:53

‘Terf’ in response to a campaign against pornography?? Why might that be? 🤔

GillyWeasel · 09/10/2019 16:00

NewUser. Yes cos terfs are known for their nasty habit of trying to protect children
Had response from head. Talks about the ‘provenance’ of the website and therefore suitable as a potential source of reference for kids in year 9 and above Angry
Apparently it is better for them to use the site rather than googling for info and there is clear evidence that kids exposed to this makes them well informed and less likely to engage in sexual activity Hmm
Perhaps will go back to head link the references used by safe schools alliance which suggest the opposite

GillyWeasel · 09/10/2019 16:20

OMG just had another response from chief executive, praising the website for reducing the teenage pregnancy rate in Warwickshire. Hmm
Also saying that success has been proven by its 22,000-30,000 hits per month

OhHolyJesus · 09/10/2019 19:54

No press is bad press hey?

Funny that it reduced teenage pregnancy, eating shit or shoving your hand up someone's arse doesn't often end in pregnancy. Sounds like the Chief Exec needs some sex ed himself.

I hope there are protests outside the schools. This needs blowing wide open.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 09/10/2019 20:04

They cannot be doubling down on this shit! ShockShockShock

ifonlyus · 09/10/2019 21:00

That open letter/petition is so eloquently written I don't know how any person in their right-mind could argue against it. Let's hope it finds a wide audience.

Datun · 10/10/2019 03:52

GillyWeasel

Someone, possibly @LangCleg, posted the teen pregnancy stats. Which, I believe, belie what that chief exec is saying.

I've just scrolled back on this thread and the in AIBU, but I can't see the comment. So I've 'atted' Lang to check.
