“Detransition Never Happens” ...

.... except when it does.

Lots of detransitioners are coming out of the woodwork now, despite the TRA's insistence that they don't exist in large numbers. What powerful, sad and sometimes terrifying stories they're telling.

This is a thread to pull them together on one place.

Thanks to @NotBadConsidering for the idea.

Most recently, @sathananas on Twitter:

A thread on what lead me to the decision to detransition, step by step.
Spoiler: It wasn't me "randomly deciding to be a woman again"

Charlie Evans, IDed as trans (non binary, and then male) from 15 or 16 to 21. Before IDing as trans, she saw herself as a lesbian. (She's now bisexual I think).

Here's her powerful speech at Lesbian Strength in Leeds.

I remember watching a programme about a guy who was going back to living as a guy. (unfortunately for him this had included surgery.). Is anyone surprised?

NotBadConsidering · 22/09/2019 22:47

Posting this one from the Guardian, because, well, fuck you Guardian with your gaslighting bullshit of “this never happens” except when it does and you publish it in your own paper:

Heartbreaking.
Not the first time we've seen this sort of story, either.
WTF are health professionals playing at? Transplacatory pat-a-cake.

NotBadConsidering · 22/09/2019 23:12

A reminder the full extent of this issue hasn’t been clarified because research into it has been deliberately stifled:

Three detransitioned women, GNC Centric, Thomasin and Charlie Evans talking about Manchester Pride and about transgender ideology.

Is the TRA / Mermaids etc powered by companies in countries where being trans is preferable to being gay? It’s the only thing that makes sense when you read some of the anecdotes

QuimReaper · 22/09/2019 23:21

I'm absolutely stunned by that Twitter story. What kind of HCP can't join the dots between anorexia and a desire to surgically alter a female body?!

thirdfiddle · 23/09/2019 03:33

Jamie Shupe, first person in the US to be officially nonbinary:

NotBadConsidering · 23/09/2019 03:54

If you’re going to talk about Jamie Shupe, let’s not forget the Guardian again, who so very bravely gave Jamie a column of his own, then very cowardly have conveniently forgotten about him when he admits he has AGP:

Pique resilience project - stories including video from four detrans young women: Dagny, chiara, Jesse and Helena.

Yeahnahyeah · 23/09/2019 04:16

I've read or watched hundreds of mainly women detrans stories. Hundreds. All with very common themes. Here is Sookie. I hope it's ok to share, her account isn't locked.

The incredibly amazing Alfie, who with a 10 minute video has been more actually brave and stunning than any TRA like McKinnon, Prior, Hayden etc has ever been in their pathetic little lives. THIS is true trans activism. (caution: make cause watering of eyes).

From Alfie’s video:

“We are the guinea pigs”.

Awful.

LoreleiRock · 23/09/2019 05:08

Alexis Arquette was living as a man again before his death, he said “gender is bullshit”. That is barely ever reported though.

And self harm.

yulet · 23/09/2019 08:14

I don't know how to post the links from my phone but reddit has a "detrans" sub with about 5,000 subscribers and routine stories and questions from people with regrets. The stories are really heartbreaking.

There's another one called something like neovagina disasters too. There are some surgeons out there who do not give one shit about the people they're experimenting on at all.

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/09/2019 08:46

Alex's sister seems to be ignoring it too; Patricia Arquette said this at the emmys last night: (from bbc)

But the speech then took an emotional turn as she paid tribute to her late sister Alexis, one of the first transgender activists in Hollywood, who died in 2016 after cardiac arrest related to HIV.
"In my heart, I'm so sad I lost my sister Alexis," Arquette said. "Trans people are still being persecuted and I'm in mourning every day of my life Alexis, and I will be for you for the rest of my life, until we change the world so that trans people are not persecuted.
"And give them jobs, they're human beings, let's give them jobs, and get rid of this bias that we have everywhere."

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/09/2019 08:56

The mourning period after a woman who wants to transition has a mastectomy is normal apparently:

Sookies thread made me want to cry

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/09/2019 09:25

Do detransed people use the lizard sign on their twitters?
