(At one point it says it is for Labour Party Conference delegates and later on it says it is a public meeting.)

A Woman’s Place is at Conference
Public Meeting in Brighton
Monday 23 September 2019 (Venue to be announced)
Doors open at 6:30pm, for 7.00pm start.

Woman's Place UK (WPUK) invites Labour Party Conference delegates to hear speakers discuss the WPUK Manifesto, focusing on women's issues. Half the tickets are available for FREE to Labour Party members.

Speaker biographies:
Dani Ahrens Founding member of Brighton Pride, a lifelong Labour activist, tweets as @rebelyarns
Onjali Rauf Founder and CEO of 'Making Herstory'
Kay Green "Socialist policy must always be based on reality." Kay Green is a socialist activist, supporting gender-critical voices on the political left.
Kiri Tunks Woman's Place UK founder (Chair)

Woman’s Place UK was founded in September 2017 to ensure women’s voices would be heard in the consultation on proposals to change the Gender Recognition Act. We had 5 demands and we didn’t expect the campaign to last more than 3-4 months.

Thanks to the support and actions of thousands of people all over the UK we had a big collective impact on the debate and, while we don’t expect to hear the results of the consultation yet, we know that the government has heard the voices of thousands of women.

At the same time, the debate has exposed the poor state of women’s rights in the UK. We have decided therefore to develop a broader campaign on the foundations we have built.

We will keep up the pressure on the government around the GRA and on councils and organisations to uphold equality law.

But there are other battles we need to fight too.

So we have made some New Year Resolutions to help us broaden the campaign in 2019:

Morning. Well, I see masses of support for the meeting on Twitter #WPUKLab19 which is brilliant. The videos have thousands of views. I wish I'd been brave and disobeyed the request not to film and simply filmed the windows and the racket.

I saw very few protestors, having gone in early, but I certainly heard them and caught glimpses of them through the blinds as they were banging against the long windows. One thing was clear - the chanting and yelling sounded entirely young female. One woman was standing on the ramp facing the mob with a bandana on her face and some wild eyed shrieking whipping them up to more hate. It reminded me of my view that football violence isn't always about football. It's about excitement. And she seemed very overexcited to me.

One young woman who'd had to go to a place of privacy with a panic attack bravely explained on mic that the aggression and noise had triggered her PTSD but that she was glad she'd come. Huge applause.

The audience was pretty over whelmingly mature female, with a few chaps who asked permission to speak after everyone else - they were Labour people offering support and some valuable contact details.

And again - the security staff were brilliant.

These are the people who only want to pee/shower/change (and the rest) alongside women. Ok then...

LangCleg · 24/09/2019 09:13

Dear UK Labour

You lost my membership subs over this.

I will never vote for you until the protection of women's rights and safeguarding frameworks for children are in your manifesto.

You need to stop relying on a few thousand bourgeois activists and start thinking about the millions of votes you're hoping to win.

What Lang just said:

Well said.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 24/09/2019 09:49

Shocking to see that footage.

I doubt I would have had the courage to attend that meeting (longstanding anxiety, and a curious aversion to being shouted at and threatened), but the attacks on women attending do show how very starkly how critical and febrile the situation has become.

Well done, all the brave women who attended and spoke. You have my full admiration.

Claire Udy, a councillor in Portsmouth, was involved in the protest against the #WPUKlab2019 meeting last night. In fact, she sort of helped organise it.

Just fell into a rabbit hole when researching Sussex Police 😖 t.co/pAw2leFxCy

Whilst men were pounding on the windows of a women's meeting the lovely "Joanne", hate crime ambassador for Sussex Police, was having the night of her life at the National Diversity Awards. t.co/jW38aEI0VS

WPUK are outside the venue promoting their transphobic crap, my friend was just detained by police for tearing down an antisemitic banner- which has now gone back up!!!- #Lab19 is currently letting down transgender and Jewish comrades massively. #LabourConference2019 t.co/L4k1E2Vu3W

Labour women's officer Lily Madigan has tweeted from two accounts that the women who met in Brighton to discuss their sex-based rights while facing threats and intimidation from people like Lily outside are 'scum' t.co/QfJaDDHPNk

Labour has been taken over by some very odd folx.

SunsetBeetch · 24/09/2019 10:31

JUST GOT IN from @WomansPlaceUK #WPUKLab19. Staggered by the disrespect shown by trans activists drowning out the voices of the very women who laid the foundations of the freedoms they enjoy. Quite clear women speaking their truth is a threat! @BtonHovePolice - awful&abysmal. t.co/SVxWMyZjQK

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 24/09/2019 10:32

I thought lilz was not student women’s officer of some such meaningless title?

SunsetBeetch · 24/09/2019 10:32

The girl on the megaphone shouting 'TERFS OUT' in Brighton outside a women's meeting is the same Stockholm Syndrome sufferer who was forced out of The Labour Party because she was accused of transphobia for rejecting Lily Madigan's sexual advances t.co/0Y3mJcr8kL

State of this outside the venue where #WPUKLab19 were meeting to talk about women's sex-based rights, a load of trans-activist misogynists screaming, shouting and banging on the window while the police did absolutely nothing: t.co/9e7ZWbrc7E

SunsetBeetch · 24/09/2019 10:34

TRAs banging on the window of the #WPUK meeting in Brighton right now.

Women meet. Trans activists aggressively try and hammer down the boundary.

How fucking apt. t.co/Re5GO7Jrj1

SunsetBeetch · 24/09/2019 10:35

Oh look it's Richard Firth. Quelle surprise.

Please note @TWT_NOW encouraged people to attend the protest at #WPUKLab19 with a false allegation of “transphobic bigotry”. We have asked them if they endorse the intimidation and abuse directed at women attending our meeting. #Lab19 @UKLabour t.co/P7i1fRvAz2

Another video, of protestors shouting "terfs out" and "scum".

womanontheedgeoftime · 24/09/2019 10:53

What does "TERFS out" even mean? Out of where?!

littlbrowndog · 24/09/2019 10:59

Yeah was thinking that. Out of where

Imagine if they didn’t have to word terf. Wonder what word would they use

Women out ?
Witches out ?
Bitches out ?

SunsetBeetch · 24/09/2019 11:04

This is what we faced exiting the meeting. I couldn’t turn right out of building as it was blocked by aggressive people and I was pushing my friend in a wheelchair so had to take a dangerous slippy dark route down slopes & steps helped by two kind unknown attendees😨 #WPUKLab19 t.co/rv8kHJjStR

Gone2far · 24/09/2019 11:26

My mp, Thangham Debonnaire, has condemned this. Does anyone else know if other mp's have? They were tweeted by wpuk this morning. It's pretty shameful if more mp's don't condemn this

Thingybob · 24/09/2019 11:33

According to Twitter someone has been on stage this morning at party conference to condemn last night's protest
