(At one point it says it is for Labour Party Conference delegates and later on it says it is a public meeting.)

A Woman’s Place is at Conference
Public Meeting in Brighton
Monday 23 September 2019 (Venue to be announced)
Doors open at 6:30pm, for 7.00pm start.

Woman's Place UK (WPUK) invites Labour Party Conference delegates to hear speakers discuss the WPUK Manifesto, focusing on women's issues. Half the tickets are available for FREE to Labour Party members.

Speaker biographies:
Dani Ahrens Founding member of Brighton Pride, a lifelong Labour activist, tweets as @rebelyarns
Onjali Rauf Founder and CEO of 'Making Herstory'
Kay Green "Socialist policy must always be based on reality." Kay Green is a socialist activist, supporting gender-critical voices on the political left.
Kiri Tunks Woman's Place UK founder (Chair)

Woman’s Place UK was founded in September 2017 to ensure women’s voices would be heard in the consultation on proposals to change the Gender Recognition Act. We had 5 demands and we didn’t expect the campaign to last more than 3-4 months.

Thanks to the support and actions of thousands of people all over the UK we had a big collective impact on the debate and, while we don’t expect to hear the results of the consultation yet, we know that the government has heard the voices of thousands of women.

At the same time, the debate has exposed the poor state of women’s rights in the UK. We have decided therefore to develop a broader campaign on the foundations we have built.

We will keep up the pressure on the government around the GRA and on councils and organisations to uphold equality law.

But there are other battles we need to fight too.

So we have made some New Year Resolutions to help us broaden the campaign in 2019:

And as usual the trans activists have no understanding of the impact of intimidation. eg the woman with PTSD in the meeting and the mother who had come with her daughter to the meeting and stood outside thinking she shouldn't but her child in danger.

Oh, they do understand. They just don't care. They have absolutely no moral compass at all.

Oldstyle · 24/09/2019 11:56

Can anyone with a Labour MP please send them a short email of complaint and ask them to condemn this anti-democratic action. The activists were supported by Young Labour and LGBT Labour, and included a Labour councillor. The silence from the PL is absolutely appalling.

Oldstyle · 24/09/2019 11:57

'LP' not 'PL' - though probably them too whoever they are.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 24/09/2019 12:29

good to see the Mail on it. they really do have a gratifyingly low tolerance for violence and intimidation against women

i see the trans extremists have learnt a new adjective - 'Putrid'. looking forward to seeing it crop up more often

WonderWomansSpin · 24/09/2019 13:00

Has Jess Phillips condemned it? Her PR team have been on overdrive in The Times lately pushing her as the best centrist leadership candidate for Labour. iirc she couldn't even remember what a woman was when she was last time she was here but its slightly different to ignore intimidating behaviour.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 24/09/2019 13:02

Here's the group responsible:

Queer AF Brighton - on Facebook now trying to paint themselves as victims. Mob rule.

donkey86 · 24/09/2019 13:13

I hate how many people are ok with this sort of protest. I’m in a local community Facebook group where there’s a 160+ comment threat about this, nearly all cheering on the protesters. Person after person expressing their outrage that the meeting was allowed to happen and spreading lies about the purpose. I know Brighton is woke, but... argh.

They’re just so aggressive, while accusing those who disagree of being the aggressive ones. I wish I was brave enough to challenge them but I’m not. I’ve limited myself to ‘liking’ the posts of the few people brave enough to say anything (thanks if you're on here!) I suppose that makes me part of the problem, as it makes it look like almost everyone on that forum agrees with them. I wonder how many others were too intimidated to speak up.

SunsetBeetch · 24/09/2019 13:25

"Contrary to the video evidence, we are the real victims here".

I saw that report. Its like they live in reverse world.

I have seen on twitter claims that protesters had water poured on them from a balcony - I got the impression it was earlier before they got to the venue. If true that would be wrong too.

I support peaceful protest but it has to be actually peaceful. This looked like intimidation.

LangCleg · 24/09/2019 13:38

They honestly think they're the new Red Guard and our refusal to engage in struggle sessions about our sins is heresy.

And most of them are posh enough not to recognise actual oppression if it got up and slapped them in the face with a wet fish. So they can fuck off.

Popchyk · 24/09/2019 13:55

Simon Fanshawe (co-founder of Stonewall) was there last night.

"It was disgraceful. As we walked into the meeting these people yelled scum at lesbians and feminists who have been fighting for women’s rights for decades many of them. This is not solidarity or diversity. It is aggression our and simple#WPUKLab19"

Just some after thoughts.

So contradictory (as alwys) that trans activists will for instance promote the need for a traffic light system at a conference to ensure no one is intimidated www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3699180-Academics-criticise-traffic-light-safe-space-badges-at-transgender-conference?noti=1#90279502 but then think they can act with violence towards those who disagree with them. But just part of the indoctination, which I am afraid many young women who are desparate to please and "fit in", to "other" women who accepted the biological reality of sex.

And also, which is a shame, there might have been an opportunity to build on the impact the protestors had on Labour Party members who came out of curiousity, but with the court rule on proroguing this issue will drop to the bottom on the agenda. It is only about women. Sad

I recently reread an the autobiography by Nien Chen - (Life and death in Shanghai) about her life (and her daughters death) in Shanghai during the cultural revolution.

There’s lots to read there (her daughter was beaten to death for - well for having wealthy parents really) but the zeal of the young people - smashing into people’s houses, attcking a time they didn’t like the look of in the streets, breaking everything, barking slogans and generally believing themselves to be ‘oh the right side of history’ is certainly something when I first read the book I never thought I’d say ‘sounds familiar’.

SunsetBeetch · 24/09/2019 14:48

We attended #Brighton #WPUK meeting following a late change of venue without notice. We facilitate lawful events & protest, balancing rights of attendees, protesters & local residents. No reports of crime, no arrests, no criminal damage. We will be reviewing the police response. t.co/bmpBryuQys

Thingybob · 24/09/2019 14:58

What awkward, indecisive women changing the venue without notice.

My great grandma, a huge supporter of Labour would be utterly devastated to see the state of the party. None of my family want to vote for them now and we've been Labour for generations.

Huge thanks to everyone who attended.

Popchyk · 24/09/2019 16:53

So the police are blaming the organisers for the fact that the organisers had to change the venue because of threats? Threats that the police have done nothing about? Victim blaming at its finest. They wouldn't have had to change the venue if you'd done your jobs in the first place, you misogynistic muppets.

This is the force that fined Shana Grice, a stalking victim for lying about her stalker. And then she was murdered.

Popchyk · 24/09/2019 17:14

And isn't it straight out of the stalkers' handbook to turn up wherever the victim goes?

Women have no right to get away from their abusers.

Those abusers had no business being there last night - they were only there to abuse women further.

And the police response (from a force that allowed a stalker to murder a young woman) is that abusers must be facilitated to stalk their victims.

Michael Lane, a man who harassed 12 different women and girls, before he killed Shana Grice, got help from Sussex police to continue his offending.

Sussex police were not just hapless bystanders; they took deliberate actions in order to help Lane and conceal his past.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-49297674

"After his arrest on suspicion of grooming the 14-year-old via text and Facebook messages, Lane resigned from the Scouts.

He was told the allegation would be considered if he tried to re-join.

However, when he re-applied in 2015 a "temporary glitch in the IT system" meant he was not recognised as a past member and he volunteered for several months, the report said.

Sussex Police decided not to reveal allegations when a check was made by the Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS), concluding it would be "disproportionate".

This is a force that actively went out of its way to facilitate harassment and murder.

And when Shana went to the police about him several times, they only action they took was against her. She was fined £90.

womanontheedgeoftime · 24/09/2019 17:19

But so many of the chanting voices seemed to be women? So women are intimidating women? I don't understand.

There were women there and there was a woman on the megaphone for a fair bit IIRC. But there were also loads of blokes among the protesters.

AnotherLass · 24/09/2019 17:22

I don't think that fair cop's letter is legally right - there isn't a category for hate crime against women. They seem to be confusing it with the equality act, which is different.

You could argue it was aimed against lesbians though, who are protected from hate crime

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 24/09/2019 17:40

The shouting may have been from a fair few woman but in the video I saw there was a rather animated male/female attire strutting about like cock of the walk.
