I posted a link to this even some time ago and there have been various comments and more recently one for an organiser of the event which has been really interesting.

Then just now mumsnet have deleted it saying it is because it has a go fund me link in it.

Well I posted that some time ago and nobody said anything. And as I have also posted that on a number of other threads I apologise if they get deleted.

What is the problem.

We are trying to support Lesbians and some red tape that users aren't aware of do this hatchet job.

Why didn't you just deleted the post with the go fund me link.

If I believed in conspiracy theories I would say mumsnet has been nobbled by the lesbian erasure strand of transactivism.

Heavy handed and unecessary.

Me and DP will be there.

Hi @PegasusRex

Do you want us to email Leeds Council and point out that it is their duty under the Equality Act to protect the sexual orientation of people, and that lesbians are women who are sexually attracted to other women.

If you do can you say who we should email and / or if we should right to local papers, tv and radio?

Thanks

And also women are protected under the Equality Act on the basis of sex!

Amazing that Leeds council thinks they have a right to silence lesbian women. Their version of equality really doesn't tolerate the uppity kind of lesbian women who refuse to be subservient to males.

If you do decide to proceed against them I'll be delighted to contribute to the war chest.

Michelleoftheresistance · 18/08/2019 18:14

From that twitter thread the Leeds Council excuse is that the march 'doesn't foster good relations between people with protected characteristics'?

For Fucks Sake.

No, the TRAs started that one when they pitted men with gender identities directly against the PCs of sex, homosexuality and lesbians in particular. 'Equality' is rapidly starting to mean 'whatever TRAs want' and fuck anyone else. It's like the other PCS don't exist.
Policy capture and against the fucking law, it's misuse of power.

The TRAs buying up tickets and thinking this is some hugely clever thing to do need to put their My Little Pony lunchboxes away and go back to double science please. Its honestly like trying to live around a bunch of hugely spoiled, overgrown children.

Cllr Sarah Field and ward colleagues have been contacted and have asked for urgent explanations, EA assessment and FOI requests. Cllr Field doing this in the midst of intense chemotherapy.

Angryresister · 18/08/2019 21:07

Good to know there is action within LCC, incredible it has come to this see you on 7 th

YourVagesty · 18/08/2019 21:35

Jesus Sunset, the irony of that decision! It's teeth-itchingly frustrating.

I'd love to go but can't unfortunately. If there's a march closer to me - say in Birmingham or something, I'd definitely go along (I'm in Wales).

Ereshkigal · 18/08/2019 21:50

Cllr Field doing this in the midst of intense chemotherapy.

Thanks

Don't think that's going to happen. In fact I know that women are planning to come from far afield to show solidarity.

HedgehogsRock · 18/08/2019 22:23

Thanks for reposting this info.
Women's voices being crushed and dismissed yet again. How did we get to this point so quickly and easily?

Leeds CC are the most blatant misogynists and gaslighting effwits it's possible to be, with the notable exception of Cllr Field and any allies that she has. That woman has the heart the size of a planet.

2BthatUnnoticed · 19/08/2019 02:19

Definitely don’t cancel! All these ridiculous shenanigans only show how important it is. The homophobia is bizarre.

OhHolyJesus · 19/08/2019 07:22

Richard, there you are again.

Strength to the women here and the ones marching and to Cllr Field. What a legend she is.

EverardDigby · 19/08/2019 07:28

Why are blokes so invested in lesbians meeting I wonder?

FormerMediocreMale · 19/08/2019 08:00

Strength and solidarity to all you lovely ladies going.

Im straight and due to my work and interests have always mixed more with men. The thing that struck me at my cousins lesbian wedding was the strong bond and sense of community. So many different characters and personalities, brought together through being lesbian women supporting each other.

I hope you have a wonderful day. I hope the TRA buying tickets dont spoil it, rather just dont go so numbers are a bit less. TBH if they do go and protest it will probably peak quite a few people, as the cotton ceiling will be shown in all is disgusting glory!

FormerMediocreMale · 19/08/2019 08:02

RJFirth shove off with your homophobia. Lesbians have the right to march whether you like it or not.

ChattyLion · 19/08/2019 08:38

I am a lesbian and live in Leeds. It's really important that we make it clear that this event does not represent lesbians, and is not organised for lesbians: it's for a small group of lesbian and straight women who want to exclude and punish trans women. They are coopting lesbian identity in order to do that.

Thanks for pasting that quote stumbled.

The irony of this person complaining about the ‘coopting of lesbian identity’ when this actual coopting IRL is one of the issues that lesbians will be marching against, given the freedom with which some male-born people confidently take on the title ‘lesbian’ for themselves, even when men definitively can’t ‘be’ lesbians, and there is no process by which they can ‘become’ lesbians. it will never be possible for human beings to actually change to the opposite sex.

So it’s views of the kind that this person seems to support, that actually ‘coopt lesbian identity’. It’s a staggering bit of doublethink and a total appropriation of a lesbian struggle to say otherwise. And that has very horrible real life consequences for lesbians including gaslighting and coercion ‘(cotton ceiling’), a loss of women-only lesbian spaces and places and services, and it has been used to justify violent rhetoric and silencing of lesbians seeking to express reasonable opinion and objections and talk about their life experiences as has been seen at various Pridea and in gay areas like Manchester gay village in recent times. Well documented on this FWR board and the way that women who detransition are treated, and the way that kids who would most likely grow up to be lesbian women are encouraged to think that they must actually be a boy who was ‘born in the wrong body’. A massively homophobic idea.

The starting place to move forward on this is for everyone to acknowledge that the literal ‘TWAW’ belief (which enables people to believe that transwomen can be lesbians), constitutes a serious clash of rights for lesbians, women of all ages as a class and for female and male children (since they are often in the care of women).

Until this clash of rights is acknowledged clearly this issue can’t be resolved. This must be why TRAs are so against this event happening- it points out the elephant in the room by demanding that other rights need to be accommodated too. By doing so it also casts a light on the many organisations and individuals- including ones who say they are for lesbians-, who have already totally sold lesbians out by adopting this dogma and then made it even worse by trying to suppress debate and protest on that.

2BthatUnnoticed · 19/08/2019 10:19

Great post Chatty, and solidarity to all 💚💜

EverardDigby · 19/08/2019 10:48

What Chatty said.

stumbledin · 19/08/2019 12:21

ChattyLion - what a fantastic and important post.

Has there been any attempt from not just lesbians, but feminist in Leeds to point out the the Council just how divisive they are being.

What's the best way to let them know that one desparately sad woke lesbian should not be given more importance than all the other lesbians in Leeds?

Its insance their decision. but also revealing.

Bet you that if one lesbian contacted the Council to say they felt intimidated by trans women demanding to be accepted as a lesbian or in a women's refuge they would just ignore.

For those of us who are hoping to come to the city from elsewhere if there is any thing you think we should know or do please share.

Would hate for us all to go away and leave you in some way more vunerable.

And no to the really stupid suggestion up thread, in no way should the march be cancelled. As if!!

And worth sharing if you can find the pics on twitter (sigh) showing that in Glasgow the Pride organisers supported Lesbians. Go Glasgow ... twitter.com/ForwomenScot/status/1162732228893388800

Well said Chatty

Isca18 · 19/08/2019 14:24

@RJFirth you really need to grow up & learn some social skills and manners. This is an adult space, not one for juvenile misogynistic narcissists who just love to troll, intimidate, take p*$$ & harass.

You have an unnerving predilection for harassing women and lesbian women and want to barge into their spaces.

QED.

Isca18 · 19/08/2019 14:29

In case my last post was stopped. I do find it extraordinary that trolling misogynists get to post on here & women calling them out don't.
