I have signed up but late at night and not thinking clearly so registered to close to my real name, so currently just working.
I have read all the issue about security etc., etc., but quite honestly the worst thing about it is all the twitter obsessives who are bringing their negativity and schoolyard bullying into the forum.
They clearly stated it would be an open forum for gender critical comments (and much much more women centred postings) and a small group thought that somehow getting Glinner to unregister would not only be a victory but somehow free up the limited space to those who were late in trying to register.
At moment I find it quite uninteresting. As someone else said a bit like the last day of term and everyone rushing round saying naughty things to get a round of applauce. May wait and see how it settles down and work out if it is worth registering in a less revealing name. (Posts from Spinster can be shared via their URL).
Also, unlike some who have commented here I get far more out of facebook (by not joining any womens groups where there always seems to be some control freak making it a negative experience). And by the way I have had no problem with registering under a fake name. Facebook's problem was they thought anyone who didn't have a name that reflected a WASP heritage couldn't be real.
Have found that on facebook, as on mumsnet you come into contact with women who you might not necessarily ever have contact with in real live. And I learn from that, even if I dont necessarily change my opinion!
I think just having a space where women can openly discuss gender critical issues and the impact of transactivism on women's rights is really valuable.
There is moderation, but on reasonable grounds eg sharing someone else's personal info, racism, and so on.
So I hope it will be positive. But at the moment I already spend too much time on social media where I am able to be gender critical so dont know that I need another place.
Just hope the twitter obsessives get a new life and realist they dont have to see the world through the lens a a hostile male forum.
(Some mumsnetter has been complaining on Spinster that mumsnet isn't strict enough about those posting on mumsnet who (s)he considers to be disrupters!!)
