So the raid to find weapon is a given. But plenty of scope to see the extent of threats being sent online too. That would count as malicious communications in the UK.

The Malicious Communications Act 1988 (MCA) is a British Act of Parliament that makes it illegal in England and Wales to "send or deliver letters or other articles for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety". It also applies to electronic communications.

It in effect covers some forms of online harassment.

Now I don't know the law in Canada but there may well be equivalency of some kind.

Which might be enough for seizure of computer equipment for analysis.

I guess we will find out if this is the case, one way or another.

OK so JY now says they called the police back to their apartment (after having been arrested and released for the taser stuff) in order to show them child abuse images they’d been sent?? I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this is another JY lie - and that the police uncovered child abuse images as part of their search (and JY is just getting their “explanation” into the press first). Either way, it looks like a big can of worms could be about to be opened.

I would LOVE to see a prosecution brought for timewasting of the health service. Unlikely, but warranted.

I'm glad Yaniv was arrested for weapons, but it seems the overnight police presence was only for protection of the apartment.

JY “says” the police were there to protect the apartment - but I don’t think that’s true. It’s only JY’s word after all, and we know how reliable that is. A resident of the block is claiming that local police were guarding the apartment until the federal police could get there to perform the search. Apparently JY plus mother turned up and kicked up a fuss when they were denied access, which would not be consistent with JY’s story of the police just looking after the apartment for them while they were down the nick.

Whoever gets a police guard on their home while they are being questioned by the cops? More narcissism. I remember seeing a report of a complaint made to the police about JY's sexual behaviour with young girls and the police said JY was on their radar but always managed to stay just the right side of the law. Hopefully this incident is what they've been waiting for to start a thorough investigation.

I doubt Yaniv realises how hard it is to remove images from a hard drive. And I could speculate that the photo was sent because someone was asked for it or it was sent from an internet cafe Yaniv has recently visited.

I’m sure the police will need to search computer hard drives, to check emails/search history, so it can be established where the weapon came from.

In the comments bit of the National Post update (the one linked to above) someone says they've sent Yaniv's 'racist rant' during the Blaire White interview to the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal, as 'context' for Yaniv's many, many complaints against immigrant women which are currently being adjudicated.

Yaniv's allegations against the RCMP ('Mounties') knowing about his prohibited weapons are very serious, and I hope they respond at some point. It's a matter of public interest, given the seriousness of the offence in Canada.

The CSE image excuse sounds really weak. It doesn't tie in at all with the neighbour's account overnight about RCMP being there from two different areas. It really sounds like he's going for an 'I was set up' defence. Again.
