On twitter, seems true enough. Lets hope they confiscate all the computer equipment.

I dont know about canadian law but pretty sure in UK if the raid relates to the taser then that would not allow a computer to be searched - different crimes.

However they may have enough evidence relating to his inappropriate online behaviour to look into both crimes.

Hirsutefirs · 06/08/2019 13:00

He may be buying more illegal weapons online. Better check.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 06/08/2019 13:00

Surely they could access the computer to find out where he purchased said Taser from and if by doing so they find evidence of other crimes well so be it!

BeyondDangerousTshirts · 06/08/2019 13:00

Well I know the Elmo recipient logged an official complaint, so it's possible they are there for more than one reason. Imagine they'll want everything super locked up tight though before any arrest is made for internet related activities, knowing how litigious JY is

MockerstheFeManist · 06/08/2019 13:02

The Mounties always get their man.

pepperpot99 · 06/08/2019 13:03

I seriously hope this total pervert is arrested and charged with their paedophile crimes.

Babdoc · 06/08/2019 13:07

MockerstheFeManist Grin

PreseaCombatir · 06/08/2019 13:11

So this article shows screenshots of Yaniv messaging a young girl, saying he ‘accidentally’ clicked on ‘kiddy porn’ and does she ‘wanna see?’
This girl has apparently gone to the police. Surely the police involvement must be due to these complaints?
If not, what do you need to do in Canada to be investigated ffs?!?

LoveGrowsWhere · 06/08/2019 13:12

If it's for taser waving on a live streaming wouldn't that be enough to search for other internet evidence.?

Let Diefenbaker at him!

pepperpot99 · 06/08/2019 13:16

Christ on a bike that article is shocking. What an absolute pervert sicko. Yaniv seriously is disgusting. Needs to be in a prison. A male one.

AutumnCrow · 06/08/2019 13:20

Two or three reasons I guess, hypothetically, if the report is true, why the police might search hard drives and have this action permitted in a search warrant:

From where is the suspect obtaining the alleged illegal devices?

Is anyone else involved with the suspect in providing or obtaining said illegal devices?

Does the suspect have any kind of 'hit list'?

What a bizarre story, though. The whole of it. That it's been allowed to come to this ... I hope those girls get justice.

MockerstheFeManist · 06/08/2019 13:26

Like the Beaver in springtime, Canadian media is slowly waking up and emerging blinking into the light:

Juells · 06/08/2019 13:27

They'd need to search his mother's phones and laptops too though.

TerfTalk · 06/08/2019 13:50

Which girlband did Yaniv work for? They mentioned it during their interview with BW?

JemimaTab · 06/08/2019 13:54

The girlband was Cimorelli. I think JY ran their website.

MargueritaBlue · 06/08/2019 13:58

Which girlband did Yaniv work for? They mentioned it during their interview with BW?

It's explained in the article linked by Mockers.

BeyondDangerousTshirts · 06/08/2019 14:03

Have a look at Louise on twitter for the Cimorelli story...

One of the comments on that National Post story:

"If the government can tell you that you must believe a man is really a woman then I guess they can tell you anything."

Michelleoftheresistance · 06/08/2019 14:15

Oh dear, could this get any more embarrassing for the Canadian government?

The police will have desperately wanted not to have to get involved with this highly litigious loose cannon so if they've done this they must have grounds they can't overlook and a certainty they're going to find what they're looking for. That's going to make the HR hearings look even more of an indefensible farce.

TurboTeddy · 06/08/2019 14:46

In the National Post article,

Oger, who was among the first to investigate Yaniv’s past,

Hmm that's not how the farmers report it and if recall they have receipts.

heathspeedwell · 06/08/2019 14:58

Miranda Yardley was among the first to investigate Yaniv's past, while Oger was still saying stuff like we all have to do things at work that we don't like and this is 2019.

CoolCarrie · 06/08/2019 15:04

This has made my day! Sick fuck and as Monkers said the Mounties always get their man, brilliant news

OvaHere · 06/08/2019 15:08

About time. I'm really hoping they don't hand wave away all the grooming accusations and that the taser is just part of the investigation.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 06/08/2019 15:13

Oger, who was among the first to investigate Yaniv’s past

Oh, this is how they are trying to spin Oger's involvement with this, is it.

Not a chance

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 06/08/2019 15:21

I'm really hoping they don't hand wave away all the grooming accusations and that the taser is just part of the investigation.

I'm not sure, on the one hand Yaniv is getting too much publicity, so they might actually do something, but on the other, the police are generally all in on it.
