Telegraph column - not even attempting to hide AGP

It’s behind a paywall, will post screenshots in next post

David Thomas is a 60 year old man, who according to his Telegraph column is still living as a man whatever that means. He is transitioning and he is writing about it in his weekly column. In the past he gave us Not Guilty: The Case in Defence of Men which is described as a rebuttal of feminist charges against men. So I think he’s established his misogyny credentials, which raises the question of why he wants to transition to emulate womanhood?

It’s so clear from the above article that it’s sexual arousal. He talks about his growing breasts in a clearly lascivious way. It’s not even gently disguised or denied. The AGP is front and centre in the article.

Yet we’re still not allowed to discuss it. We’re not allowed to point out that many men get off on the idea of being seen as a woman. They talk about it openly but the activists who seek to remove women’s rights shout us down as bigots for daring to raise it.

Those who are still championing the be nice/what harm can it do still seem to deny that it’s a driver. How? When it is this blatant how can it not be openly discussed and the risks/behaviours openly managed or challenged.

It's weird isn't it.

They are men when they want their inheritance or higher pay scales.
They are women when they want access to female spaces.
They are trans women when they want victim status and to claim the most oppression ever.

It's win-win. Get all the money, all the access to women/girls and all the attention.

I wonder what his chosen womanly name will be. Margaret? Mary? Susan? Brenda? Or one of the other names bestowed on baby girls in the 1950s?

FannyCann · 03/08/2019 10:21

Maybe it's easier to stick with the same initial s? I'm going with Demelza or Delilah.

Debbie?

FormerMediocreMale · 03/08/2019 10:56

He could go for Davina keeping it close to David? He loves David so much he wont want to give up too much of David.

SingingLily · 03/08/2019 10:56

Davina, of course!

I'm with TimeLady on this. I'm a Telegraph subscriber and briefly considered cancelling on the basis of this (no words to describe) column but concluded that it's always better to know what "the other side" is thinking than not. The Telegraph has a GC line that manages to quietly shine through in articles about sport and science. This may not be new, of course. What is undoubtedly new is my sensitivity and thus taking notice.

Reading this column is, for me, like watching a slow car crash. I can't seem to help it. However, one thing does stand out for me. In virtually every column, he mentions his "friends" and, of course, the expensive professionals who are helping him to make his transition a success. This would include the voice coach who advised him to make his voice "a little whiny" if he wanted to pass as a woman. (Please note, I am using his current preferred pronouns).

What I cannot find in any of his columns is any mention of his ex-wife or his children. Their views are, at least so far, invisible. It means that when I read his latest revelation, my first thought is always, but always, of his children and the mother of his children. My heart breaks for them. And if that is the effect on other Telegraph readers (he sends my DH into an absolute fury), then it may be money well spent.

FormerMediocreMale · 03/08/2019 10:58

It's win-win. Get all the money, all the access to women/girls and all the attention. and the chance to fondle pubescent breasts whenever they feel like it bauk

FormerMediocreMale · 03/08/2019 11:06

singinglily

I really think this could be a case of the Telegraph allowing AGPs to be "hoisted by their own petard". No one else could right this because there would be such a pile on. This creep, totally lacking in any self awareness is showing this particular fetish in all its sorded glory.

FormerMediocreMale · 03/08/2019 11:06

Dangerfloof · 03/08/2019 11:12

I genuinely try not to swear so much even though I'm a adult I think it's nicer if we don't

Swearing with asterix is still swearing.
And who is the 'we' I'm ok with swearing thanks.

SingingLily · 03/08/2019 11:17

I think so too, FormerMediocreMale. The columns were meant to be weekly but have become irregular of late. The first break was immediately after he revealed to his therapist that he really wanted to have sex as a woman with a heterosexual man. Much boaking round the breakfast tables of Middle England, I think, as DT readers tried to stop their heads from exploding. I'd be interested to see whether there will be another short break after this, his latest revelation about prepubescent breasts.

In a previous column, he revealed that he began to explore his feelings of being a woman...around about the time his marriage collapsed. I knew then where the story was going.

SophoclesTheFox · 03/08/2019 11:18

I’ve wondered about his wife, too singinglily. I’d like to see her column in a national newspaper. I imagine it would provide a very interesting counterpoint.

SophoclesTheFox · 03/08/2019 11:22

It’s a very over complicated way of just shagging a man, isn’t it? Shag away, Dave, shag away, love. You know you don’t have to be a woman for that, right? What’s stoping you?

homophobia

FormerMediocreMale · 03/08/2019 11:22

In a way i hope there isnt a break, i hope he keeps going and maybe he could even do a photo shoot - the more the world sees this, the more vomit in middle England breakfast cereal the sooner people in power will put a stop to this.

SingingLily · 03/08/2019 11:23

Wouldn't it just? That would really put everything into focus.

The best I can hope for her is that she has found her way to the Trans Widows thread. God knows she needs the support.

FormerMediocreMale · 03/08/2019 11:24

Im not sure it is homophobia - he's wanking over his moobs ffs

FormerMediocreMale · 03/08/2019 11:28

I really hope the wife and children are getting support, its bad enough having never met him but to be related and reading that! Flowers

Anyone know age and sex of the children. I think whether male/female it would be devastating, but in different ways.

snowbear66 · 03/08/2019 11:31

You know how parents tell children who are scared by spiders, ‘It’s much more frightened of you than you are of it’? Well, the same thing applies to transwomen in female-only toilets. However frightened women may be by our presence, we are way, way more petrified by having to be there.
David Thomas also said this. It ignores the fact that though it might be daunting for a transwoman to go into female toilets, women run risks of being actually assaulted by men, that's why sex segrigation developed.
He does admit women may be frightened by his presence, but of course his needs take priority over this.

FormerMediocreMale · 03/08/2019 11:35

Mmm but they dont want third spaces...

Google tells me he has 3 children. I would also love to hear their mother's side of the story.

nicenewdusters · 03/08/2019 11:43

Josepheen Wow that's a headfuck ! No wonder they have to engage in such mental and physical gymnastics.
