Right you lot check your privilege and go hunting for your morality.

Just adding this because it's comforting to know that most people can see the emperor is naked.

Katvon,
Grin

ScrimshawTheSecond · 16/07/2019 20:57

Hines is very keen to apply what she thinks of as objectionable labels to those who disagree, isn't she? It's actually a bit odd.

For a movement so focussed on people asserting Who They Are without question, there certainly seems to be a lot of time spent on asserting Who You Are, In Their Opinion, Even If You Say You Are Not.

Trying to control the narrative, I suppose?

NeurotrashWarrior · 16/07/2019 21:02

🤣 Kat!

JoyceJeffries · 16/07/2019 21:08

She’s as thick as mince.

AnotherAdultHumanFemale · 16/07/2019 21:20

I find some of the things women who support this movement say staggering. It's like they are devoid of critical thinking skills and are unable to see why, just maybe, a lot of women are not on board with trans ideology.

I find it particularly staggering to the point of it being funny, when they say things like 'you're not a proper feminist' to gender critical women who are centring women in their feminism. There really is nothing less feminist than actively working to remove same-sex protected spaces, calling women bigots for not wanting men in their toilets, and telling lesbians that their sexuality is 'bigoted.' Yet bizarrely they are unable to see it. Also, it's funny how they think all of us are right wing, when pretty much everyone who has spoken up about this publicly is left wing, often academic and often lesbian.

It's like they are brainwashed and have Stockholm syndrome.

ZebrasAreBras · 16/07/2019 21:28

I think it is like Stockholm syndrome.

Like the women who argued against women having the vote (probably to ingratiate themselves to men, and act very subservient, feminine and docile?)

Centring women in feminism, and not people with penises, just seems so bloody obvious to me. It's like, how can anyone not think this? What has happened to feminism? It's been appropriated by men, and women like Sally Hines.

arranbubonicplague · 16/07/2019 21:30

Right you lot check your privilege and go hunting for your morality.

I do my best to abide by Dworkin's guidance that women should support women wherever possible but occasionally I find myself faced by a woman whose (inherited from her father plus acquired) privilege is trumping her sex (oh, the irony) and creating real world paradoxes.

Sally, you've let yourself down.
You've let the reputation of academia down.
Most of all, you've let the perceived value of education down.

Needmoresleep · 16/07/2019 21:34

It would be interesting to see an undergraduate exam set by Sally. I would fail. I probably would not understand the questions.

ZebrasAreBras · 16/07/2019 21:36

Yes, interesting.

Her father is Barry Hines. I hesitate to link to this, but Kes traumatised me as a teenager, and I never quite forgave him for that.

Threads - well, let's just say, it remains the most traumatising film I have ever seen. I saw it at about 14yrs old, and I have had nuclear war dreams (on and off) ever since then.

He may have been a very skilled writer - but I'm traumatised by his writing.

NeurotrashWarrior · 16/07/2019 21:50

Yes I am still traumatised by the birth scene in threads.

JoyceJeffries · 16/07/2019 21:54

Sally Hines wouldn’t be capable of earning a living doing anything else. Seriously, would you hire her?
She needs everyone to believe this guff or she would be on the dole.

ZebrasAreBras · 16/07/2019 21:55

Did I say dreams? Nightmares.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 16/07/2019 22:12

I love this tweet - it’s exactly what I thought having heard her speak. A strong sense of someone who has learnt a number of long words but doesn’t really know what they mean. All strung together in total gobbledegook

. “you have heard her actually speak you will appreciate that this is a personality only sustainable in a protective academic bubble. Someone so completely a collection of 'right-on' platitudes substituting for intellect would shrivel like a vampire in sunlight in the real world”

littlbrowndog · 16/07/2019 22:21

Further education. Well. That’s a joke when sally gets paid to work in further education.
A joke

Love kats work here

littlbrowndog · 16/07/2019 22:23

A ram in a tutu is not a ewe Grin. Love it!

birdsdestiny · 16/07/2019 22:31

I try hard to explain to myself why women behave like this because I was once one of them. A transwoman was part of my friendship circle in my twenties and I remember arguing vehemently with dh that I believed she was a woman. He did not. When I try and remember why I thought that, I can say that I absolutely gave not one thought as to the impact that would have on women, it never crossed my mind. So I believe it's about not prioritising women and to be honest not really seeing women as real, as separate to men.

"2. Trans women are the same sex as cis women"

Really? Then why the need to distinguish between them?

Doyoumind · 16/07/2019 23:39

I realised that despite reading her shit on Twitter I hadn't heard her speak. Just went on YouTube to see if I could find a video of her. She has a channel... with 8 subscribers Grin

Aspley · 17/07/2019 00:29

Is she really a professor?

Ereshkigal · 17/07/2019 01:04

Must be another day ending in y.

LOL Listen to top US trans thinker Katelyn. It appears the only difference between an "AFAB" and "AMAB" trans woman is... well yes you've guessed it.

Okay, so now the WPUK sports meeting was "free". Which it wasn't.

And
Sharon Davis, Tanni Grey Thompson, Kelly Holmes and Daley Thompson are "semi famous sports people"
