I agree that Brexit has provided a bit of cover.
I am a political nerd (one of the reasons why I was aware at the time of the original GRA)
The whole Amy Challenor/David Challenor thing blew up in August. This is a period that is regarded as silly season as there is usually little political news. Normally revelations about the electoral agent of someone hoping to be a deputy leader would make massive waves.
I can vaguely remember other MPs/councillors having trouble because of something their electoral agent had done.
I was astounded that there was practically no "political hay" made over this issue. I do think that it was partly because most of the political sphere were swamped with Brexit issues at a time when they would usually be twiddling their thumbs.
I realise that this post may sound very disrespectful of the victim of DC but sadly respect for victims has never been a high priority for those wishing to take political advantage.
