Has McKinnon been sacked?

Maybe I'm reading McKinnon's tweets wrong but it sounds like it. McKinnon is arguing that not publishing in academic journals was held against McKinnon, and that this is unjust because McKinnon publishes on Twitter, amongst others.

Can you post screenshots as I think most of us are blocked by this idiot

Pota2 · 04/07/2019 22:51

I mean it would be wonderful if the university told this oxygen-thief to sling their hook and take their aggressive misogyny elsewhere but I doubt it unfortunately...

AnyFucker · 04/07/2019 22:52

One cannot make a career out of twitting

GCAcademic · 04/07/2019 22:54

I thought McKinnon already had tenure? McKinnon was certain gloating about that recently and boasting that McKinnon could now not be sacked.

AutumnCrow · 04/07/2019 22:55

How can you 'publish on Twitter' when you habitually block your peers?

I can't see this berk's alleged output because I'm blocked, despite never having engaged with them on any level.

AutumnCrow · 04/07/2019 22:57

Probably not sacked then. Maybe denied promotion, a sabbatical, support staff, luxury office, whatever.

AnyFucker · 04/07/2019 22:57

Philosophical acumen is totally useless if we're only talking to each other

AnyFucker · 04/07/2019 22:58

The fragrant Raquel has blocked half the population so that's a bit rich Grin

Threesoups · 04/07/2019 22:58

Oh ok I've probably got it wrong then. Sorry folks. Will try to do screenshots.

Quite. Someone needs to explain to McKinnon the important principle of Open Access in academic publishing.

Sounds like they weren't pulling their weight academically speaking.

Guess they will have more time to focus on cheating women out of their sports now.

Lordamighty · 04/07/2019 23:00

Professional cheat is more accurate.

Hm. McKinnon says:

No joke, in my department's tenure vote letter in my tenure case, they actually worried about my "commitment to scholarship," as if the public philosophy I publish ISN'T SCHOLARSHIP TOO. What a narrow view of 'scholarship' they hold.

That sounds like something that happened while McKinnnon was being considered for tenureship. I think if McKinnon had been sacked (is that even possible, with tenure?) we'd be hearing a lot more rage.

Popchyk · 04/07/2019 23:04

I always liked Rod Liddle's quote about McKinnon.

"Rachel McKinnon also identifies as a 'doctor', having completed a PhD in Specious Twattery at some dimbo college in Canada".

Pota2 · 04/07/2019 23:04

McKinnon does have tenure. This is just a load of ‘poor me’ crap about how they’re so discriminated against and so much better than all their colleagues and their university doesn’t deserve them bla bla bla bla

AutumnCrow · 04/07/2019 23:04

So not sacked then.

Threesoups · 04/07/2019 23:05

Oh bollocks. McKinnon is writing a book now though. Not an academic book, but a paperback accessible to all (because McKinnon cares about everyone) about ensuring fairness for transwomen and intersex women in women's sports.

I am more and more convinced that this individual is a troll. It’s so pathetic and embarrassing that a university has been taken in by them.

AutumnCrow · 04/07/2019 23:07

Crack on, love

AgileLass · 04/07/2019 23:07

I'm very regularly asked/invited to publish in journals. I basically don't submit work to anonymous peer review, because 'why bother?' I have more than enough opportunities without that hassle

Translation: my work is a load of shit and I can’t get published in any academically rigorous journal
