Mum's fury after transgender suicide teen sold hormones from illegal online clinic

A Cambridgeshire mum is calling for a new inquest to question doctors who were found to be offering unregulated hormone treatments online

www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambridge-news/transgender-treatment-nhs-webberley-jayden-16504026

A heartbroken Cambridgeshire mum of a transgender teenager who took his own life is calling for a second inquest after finding out he had hormone treatment from unregulated online doctors.

Jayden Lowe, 18, paid £30 a month for private therapy after facing a six-year wait with the NHS, his inquest heard.

Married doctors Mike and Helen Webberley have both received an interim suspension by the British Medical Council pending an investigation, after they set up their unregulated gender treatment service.

Jayden received hormone treatment in the post for "a few months" before he stepped in front of a train on September 28, 2018.

"Ex-spouse" GrinGrinGrin
They do tie themselves up in knots don't they.

What’s the difference between dual gender and bi gender?

If you already know someone ‘ dial gender’ being dual gender too wont Male you special, hence the need for another term for exactly the same made-up thing.

SarahTancredi · 01/07/2019 20:21

None of them are even a thing. There are 2 sexes the rest is personality. Its scary how its reached the point of such brainwashing they can literally talk people into defining themselves as utter nonsense.

DuMondeB · 01/07/2019 20:30

What are the odds of very rapidly hiring two nurses with trans identifying children?

I can only assume the positions were advertised via Mermaids...

That's it, in a nutshell. Those poor parents. Completely broken - how do the Webberleys sleep at night?

ITV should maker a bloody drama about this

KatvonHostileExtremist · 02/07/2019 08:59

They should. It's shocking.

These poor poor vulnerable children.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/07/2019 09:07

Just wondering how to word a complaint to the NMC about the two nurses. I would have thought them conducting assessments on behalf of two suspended doctors wouldn't go down well.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/07/2019 09:08

Anyone can make a complaint

What did R0 say that warranted deletion?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 02/07/2019 09:45

She reproduced a transgender trend statement

It read as factual and respectful to me?

OldCrone · 02/07/2019 09:59

She reproduced a transgender trend statement

Was it from this article? You can still read it on the Transgender Trend site.

What did R0 say that warranted deletion?

IMO it was a nuanced, sympathetic & considered response from TransgenderTrend which summarised some of the key points which should be considered in future investigations into how Jayden was potentially failed.

I've no idea why it was deleted, I havent had an email explaining

They don’t send emails if you break ‘talk’ guidelines, nor do you receive a strike. Emails only get sent if it’s a strike which is only if you break the specific trans guidelines, or they think you are repeating the same thing and don’t know the talk guidelines.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 02/07/2019 10:31

It referred to Jess rather than Jayden and used female pronouns

That’s all I can think of

And if a thoughtful, respectful statement about a child (who by definition cannot have a GRC) committing suicide is deleted for that reason then truly the world has gone mad

OldCrone · 02/07/2019 10:37

It referred to Jess rather than Jayden and used female pronouns

I was baffled about a deletion yesterday, where I was sympathetic to a 'trans child'. I reported my deleted post to ask why it had been deleted and was told that I'd 'misgendered' the child.

And if a thoughtful, respectful statement about a child (who by definition cannot have a GRC) committing suicide is deleted for that reason then truly the world has gone mad

Quite.

R0wantrees · 02/07/2019 10:37

It referred to Jess rather than Jayden and used female pronouns

If that was the issue, the context has been ignored.
It was a summary & so the description was of a particular point in time when both were accurate.

No disrespect was intended by either TGT or me.

R0wantrees · 02/07/2019 10:41

Ive asked for clarification.
Best to wait I think for that.

We have to be able to discuss systemic Safeguarding & Duty of Care failures which impact children in such profound ways.
This is a parenting website.

OldCrone · 02/07/2019 10:53

It was a summary & so the description was of a particular point in time when both were accurate.

Was it a direct quote from Transgender Trend? Surely we should be able to quote other articles without editing them in order to not break MN misgendering rules.

R0wantrees · 02/07/2019 10:58

It was a chronological summary of potential Safeguarding failings & 'red flags'
The details are specific & pertinant to the critical time points.

LangCleg · 02/07/2019 11:13

Oh FFS.

OldCrone · 02/07/2019 11:23

The summary is on the Transgender Trend site. The part about Jayden is about half way through the article, starting with this paragraph. (Note to MNHQ: I am not 'misgendering' - this is a direct quote from another site. I'm sure you don't expect me to edit such quotes to conform to 'non-misgendering' rules - or do you?).

Behind these statistics are individual, vulnerable children. If one single case demonstrates the need for an inquiry, it is the tragic suicide of one such girl. The background of the case of Jess/Jayden Lowe is typical of the troubled cohort now coming forward to the Tavistock. Diagnosed with Aspergers and with a history of being “bullied mercilessly for being different” Jess was a lesbian who was clearly gender non-conforming from an early age. A family friend says: ‘We can’t understand how we didn’t see he was a boy a long time ago’.
