ohh, Joan just asked my question! should men with a history of violence be allowed to get a GRC?

ScottishDoll · 20/06/2019 16:13

McAlpine Grin

grass roots rock.

sex matters.

equality act is harmed.

history of violence trans effect?

hassled by speaker

no single sex exemptions happening

dragongirlx · 20/06/2019 16:13

Joan McAlpine on the equality act and how it fails women
she is pointing out what the Trans Organisations and asked for a review of the single sex exemptions and make sure they are working

ScottishDoll · 20/06/2019 16:14

AAARRRGGHHH!!!

GRA not new, fuck off Joan.

Crimes cannot be hid.

Nothing happening here lalala

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/06/2019 16:14

Shirley Anne Sommerville

Gender recgmnition has been in place since 2005

equality act allows trans people to be excluded from single sex spaces

except for Karen White eh shirley?

so no answer on the question of the rapist who fancies a spell in women's prison. apparently there's nothing to see here

ScottishDoll · 20/06/2019 16:15

Jamie Greene - school guidance why replace?

EweSurname · 20/06/2019 16:15

What can women do?

Keep spreading the word. Tell people about this in real life so as much sunlight is shone on this as possible.

ScottishDoll · 20/06/2019 16:16

LGBTY - in good faith BUT

concerns raised

faith lost

gvnt needs to restore faith in policy ?!?

Hmm
ScottishDoll · 20/06/2019 16:18

Richard Lyle - equality welcomed, how can public be made to see that (for trans)

Answer - social media BAD
gvt fact sheets instead
gulp

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/06/2019 16:19

Kezia dougdale - coming across as a bit over invested

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/06/2019 16:19

Oh Kezia...

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/06/2019 16:19

'All my trans constituents want is a birth certificate that matches who they are!'

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/06/2019 16:20

apparently the debate has been toxic

ya think?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 20/06/2019 16:20

Kezia Dugdale says "all hey want is a birth certificate that reflects who they are"

Well, they are trans, not changing sex. So, they can have a BC that says their sex and update gender?

They can't change sex.

Can't.

It might be a tough thing to accept, but, it is true.

ScottishDoll · 20/06/2019 16:20

Kez - trans not ill just bullied over birth cert boohoo

Answer - totes not fair Kez, poor them for wanting fiction in the face of toxic fact, let's get support for fiction

Popchyk · 20/06/2019 16:21

Stonewall already released a statement.

Obviously they'd seen the Scottish Government statement before it was made public.

www.stonewallscotland.org.uk/about-us/news/stonewall-scotland-statement-scottish-gra-reform

ScottishDoll · 20/06/2019 16:22

Gail Ross - damage to trans boohoo

Answer - yeah totes boohoo talked to them loads

(btw how many detransitioners has she met with?)

NonnyMouse1337 · 20/06/2019 16:22

Wow sounds cautiously promising.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/06/2019 16:23

Obviously they'd seen the Scottish Government statement before it was made public

God, feminists are so far out in the cold on this aren't we?

which makes it all the more impressive that we've managed to make the scottish government who were hell bent on this at least think twice

if the equality impact assessments are done properly, they will be key here

ScottishDoll · 20/06/2019 16:24

Oliver Mundell - other people have a right to be unhappy

Answer - transphobia needs beaten, unite (and force this through)

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/06/2019 16:24

oh, lovely to see a question about how the sex and gender data working group can improve the rights of women

ScottishDoll · 20/06/2019 16:25

Rona Mackay - data and bias

answer - not linked to GRA but obvs important, plugs book whilst dismissing link

(how can they not be linked?!?)

Popchyk · 20/06/2019 16:26

LGBT Youth Scotland had also seen seen the statement beforehand and had their reply ready:

twitter.com/LGBTYS/status/1141725685649747975

Frank questions need to be asked about the Scottish Government's links with lobby groups.

OllyBJolly · 20/06/2019 16:28

I think that was hugely encouraging - I'm quite surprised.

I'm also quite proud in the respectful way the discussion was conducted. Strong contrast with what we see at Westminster.

FlapsMagazine · 20/06/2019 16:29

Could have been a lot worse. I'm not Scottish, but have lots of connections to the beautiful country and have considered moving there in the near future to be closer to my elderly parents. Solidarity with the women there, looks like their activism has at least made a few stop, look and listen before jumping into traffic.
