Heads up if you haven't seen it:

He has started a thread on twitter about it.

twitter.com/EdwardJDavey/status/1140930197476315136

It interesting to see the priority of those posting and who is saying what.

It’s such bullshit

Doobigetta · 18/06/2019 14:52

Innit, @Redshoeblueshoe. How very dare we try and bring the conversation back to the things we care about.

AgileLass · 18/06/2019 14:52

I wonder if he realises how badly he came across. That was risible.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 18/06/2019 14:52

actually the way he completely ignored questions from his constituents was probably worse. at least he'd had a think about the trans issues, even if that thought was 'women's safety, privacy and dignity is less important than the way some males feel'. but he just wouldn't engage at all with his constituents.

very bad look

LangCleg · 18/06/2019 14:52

I avoided.

Will my head explode if I read it now?

tobee · 18/06/2019 14:53

Yes.

AllHail · 18/06/2019 14:55

Conservative vote for me from now on I think.

Massive shame.

MockerstheFeManist · 18/06/2019 14:55

Philosophically, I believe in the freedom of the individual to be who they want to be - and not to be told who they are by society. When society dictates to individuals, unhappiness and discrimination are not far behind. So for me, a trans woman is a woman, and a trans man is a man. For me, that's not a policy position, it's their reality and I respect it.

So I'm Galactic Emporer and you will bow down before me.

(serioously, what a twat.)

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 18/06/2019 14:55

I kind of enjoyed it tbh Lang. he did make himself look like a total twerp and the women (and the odd man that I spotted!) of mumsnet were articulate, fearless and well informed as always

if your expectations are low and you enjoy watching a politician get shredded by ordinary people, it does afford a sort of schadenfreude-esque kind of entertainment

OvaHere · 18/06/2019 14:56

He's righteous and principled don'tcha know!

He's a graduate from the LOJ school of I'm Alright Jack. The most illuminating answer was the one about maternity leave - immediately brought it back to men and specifically himself and how great he is.

Sexnotgender · 18/06/2019 14:57

Missed this and think I’ll do my blood pressure a favour and not bother catching up. Wouldn’t have voted for them anyway as they’re super woke and welcomed Challenor with open arms.

Michelleoftheresistance · 18/06/2019 14:59

However you're delighted to dictate to women without the faintest worry over their unhappiness and discrimination and tell them exactly who and what they can be and to get out of the way for men. Think you mean you believe in the freedom of 'people with penises' and apparently lack any sense of responsibility towards things like safeguarding, equality, impact assessments, the kind of thing that the village preschool have covered but the LibDems apparently don't know about.

Lets face it women continue to suffer discrimination - dismissal due to pregnancy, low conviction rates of rape, period poverty, forced marriage, FGM. Surely we need to unite not divide in the face of inequality?

How does 'uniting' men with women when those men just steamroller over women and force their own needs front and centre address any of this you utter muppet?

HOW do people this stupid get into positions of responsibility?

Redshoeblueshoe · 18/06/2019 14:59

Lang it you want to send your blood pressure through the roof then crack on.
And of course the wanker likes fig rolls, and did cannabis Confused

RedToothBrush · 18/06/2019 14:59

well, what a prick he is. Jesus. Couldn't have been more tone deaf if he tried.

Question:
Was he playing to the MN crowd or the twitter lot who had piled onto his feed after he publicised the chat there, started to tell him to stand up against the evil women of MN?

OP posts:
MockerstheFeManist · 18/06/2019 15:00

...Another Oxford PPE First who couldn't logically analyse his way out of a wet paper bag.

Apollo440 · 18/06/2019 15:00

His Twitter thread are fully supportive of him telling us he doesn't give a fig for Women.

DickKerrLadies · 18/06/2019 15:00

This. Wow.

Michelleoftheresistance · 18/06/2019 15:00

Also notice your Twitter feed: 'please don't listen to 50% of your voters about their rights and safety because it hurts my feelings'.

This is supposed to be a responsible adult ffs.

HollowTalk · 18/06/2019 15:02

Even the answer to the Stella Creasy maternity question is what about the menz

That jumped out at me, too.

HollowTalk · 18/06/2019 15:02

I wish people wouldn't ask about the fucking biscuits.

Wizbetisanizbet · 18/06/2019 15:03

He came across as an ignorant idiot. Didn't exactly cover himself in glory.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 18/06/2019 15:03

does he think they vote much? how about stuffing envelopes? knocking on doors? making tea for the brave revolutionaries?

OvaHere · 18/06/2019 15:03

Exactly. That question was nothing to do with trans. It was a pure women's rights question and his default was to immediately frame it around men.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 18/06/2019 15:04

Don't read it Lang.

He was asked "what is a women"

His answer was to explain why he supports self id.

I can only conclude that to him, a woman is male.

CassianAndor · 18/06/2019 15:06

RedTooth - yes, I just had a look on his Twitter and of course his tweet about being on MN was all full of 'transphobic meanies' etc etc. So, yes, I think he was playing to them, and couldn't give a shit about 12 million MNers reading his webchat.

And agreed about the maternity leave comment. Jesus.
