Councillor wants Mayor to make all toilets gender neutral

Local paper today:

www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/mayor-quizzed-gender-neutral-toilets-16437625

I am planning on writing to the Mayor to be vocal in my objections, but I may need some guidance as well please.

Traditionally toilets have been gender specific, divided into two categories: male and female.

First of all I will make it very clear that they have been divided by SEX.

make a start by designating all council building toilets as gender-neutral.

I guess this is where I need to start quoting the Equality Act? and that it is a legitimate aim to separate by sex. I am also going to quote the (2011) cenus figures about the diversity of the town and the significantly high Muslim population.

I understand, clearly, there will be some concerns from some councillors and members of the public but the risk does not increase once public toilets become gender neutral.

In fact, if anyone has any intention in committing a crime at present, they will do so.

This is about creating a much more safer environment for transgender and non binary people.

The first really is not true is it? and the last is just about getting women to suck it up

I am having lots of thoughts that I will keep to myself.

I do have a lot of respect for Ellie though, I don't necessarily agree with all of her viewpoints but she is always fairly respectful when voicing them.

unless I am missing the point, the stalls/cubicles will still be one person use so why does it matter? I am not worried if I come out of the loo and there is a male cleaner standing there and I certainly don't care who is sitting in the cubicle next to me.

So where is the risk?

So, you'd be okay with someone like JY taking pictures of minor female children? Asking minor female children if JY can help them with their tampons or other menstrual products? With the men who were recently arrested for sexual assault (to follow all the men before them) of girls in women's washrooms? There was a recent case where a ten year old girl was assaulted by a man in the washroom.

Prepare to be not-shocked.

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 16:42

Honestly. Why can't we just say it? Half the people campaigning for an end to women's single-sex facilities are bloody pervs.

We see you. What shocks me, is why doesn't everyone else see it? It's as plain as day to me.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 15/07/2019 16:42

Let's hope that this information gets as much coverage as the individual's demands to share toilets with women and children.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/07/2019 16:43

@ZebrasAreBras only half? That’s very generous of you!

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 17:04

Yes, that's playing it safe, I know. Wink

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 17:06

It's so stark-staringly obvious isn't it? I mean how many more do we need, before someone (I'm looking at you, Andy Preston) has the Damascan level revelation that pervs & sex offenders would quite like to share facilities with women & children.

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/07/2019 17:09

Never happens...

MsMcWibble · 15/07/2019 17:42

I'm shocked.
Not really.

butteryellow · 15/07/2019 17:55

but the risk does not increase once public toilets become gender neutral.

But that's incorrect - statistics have shown that mixed sex facilities (because that's what they are - they're already gender neutral) increase the risk to women and girls.

Bloody WHO agrees this - it's a top priority, what on earth makes people think they're wrong?

FlibbertyGiblets · 15/07/2019 18:06

Thank you Sunset.

Dark corners/and recesses
Benefit as well.

Bloody WHO agrees this - it's a top priority, what on earth makes people think they're wrong?

Probably the same reason they think they are wrong about chest breastfeeding. Doesn't apply to us and our countries, just the 'poor' countries.

So if convicted and sentenced to a custodial... which prison will this person demand to enter?

truthisarevolutionaryact · 15/07/2019 18:11

Do you really need to ask LordProf ?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/07/2019 18:14

Well hesheit will get a warm reception wherever they go.

Look at some of the council bodies he is part of:

Adult Social Care and Services Scrutiny Panel

Children and Young People's Learning Scrutiny Panel

Talk anout hiding in plain sight

OvaHere · 15/07/2019 18:24

Oh what a shock. Not.

Comingtoatownnearyou · 15/07/2019 18:24

So he's resigned from the Tory party but still allowed to be a councillor? How does that work? These are serious charges yeah I know, innocent until proven guilty and other job you would be suspended, not allowed to remain in it.

OP posts:
Lordamighty · 15/07/2019 18:38

Quelle surprise. To be fair he couldn’t have looked any more like a pervert if he’d tried.

I'm not a big one for generalisations, but it seems to be a very consistent thing, doesn't it?

truthisarevolutionaryact · 15/07/2019 19:26

The backgrounds of some of those feted by the government and the BBC seem very relevant in relation to their obsession for "advising" schools and organisations like the Girl Guides about how essential it is that girls must share showers, sleeping accommodation, changing rooms etc with males.

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 19:26

I think an honorary mention to other suspiciously dubious councillors/mayors who endorse gender neutral toilets.

SunsetBeetch · 15/07/2019 19:44

Do we have a list/thread somewhere of all these creeps?

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 19:53

I don't think MNHQ like it when we make "lists" - best keep it subtle. Wink
