Fantastic woman she is. So clear, so crisp, so right.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 15/06/2019 07:03

Great article

TimeLady · 15/06/2019 07:21

My, you can hear her simmering rage as she was typing that. Flowers

terfsandwich · 15/06/2019 07:23

Love the point about older nurses. Well done. Can't get comments to load. Are there any?

beagadorsrock · 15/06/2019 07:24

Very good indeed. The whole 'porn is liberating' shtick is why I would not call myself a feminist for a long long time. But of course now I'm here

KTara · 15/06/2019 07:40

Came on to post how wonderful that article is - but she is right, many women are in fear of their jobs for speaking up on this. Every time I think I will cancel my Times subscription for lack of funds, she and others write something which shines light on the safeguarding issues. This article is particularly good.

There are no comments yet as far as I can see.

MsTSwift · 15/06/2019 07:44

Sending my dd out to buy the times not the guardian- brilliant article spot on

Melioration · 15/06/2019 07:45

That is so beautifully written. She gets so much into so few words and nails it perfectly.

SophoclesTheFox · 15/06/2019 07:46

Boom! Love your work, Janice.

Fantastic article

HandsOffMyRights · 15/06/2019 07:53

Superb. Love the fig leaf line.

Also, the Savile paragraph really brings it home. The arrogance of these predators, get the men on side, bully/brainwash the younger women.

Shame we still stand in your way, predators.

stillathing · 15/06/2019 07:53

Yeah I feel like sending this to the Guardian and asking them why they're not writing anything like this. I'm so, so let down by them.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 15/06/2019 08:03

Wow, bloody brilliant article. Well done Janice. So "to the point " I don't know how anyone with an ounce of common sense who gave a shit about kids could debate otherwise.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 15/06/2019 08:05

The stupid fuckers will though Sad

boldlygoingsomewhere · 15/06/2019 08:11

Another brilliant article - thank you, Janice for continuing to shine a light on these absurdities.

AncientLights · 15/06/2019 08:12

Brava Janice. Wonderful. Flowers

DpWm · 15/06/2019 08:13

What an amazing article! I have always had respect for her as a writer, but her passion for women's rights and her anger really comes through here. It's like poetry!

Did Ruth Hunt really say 'Men will always rape women'?
Yeahh what's that phrase? Don't let the door bash you on your way out?

FlippinFumin · 15/06/2019 08:19

I am sick of having the conversation about Little Mix, Beyonce etc feeling empowered by wearing skimpy clothing. For goodness sake put some bloody clothes on! I am sure Adele feels empowered without bowing down to the bloody men who think women have to look like whores to be empowered.

I am tired of pornified images of women, and yes, absolultely, if Katie Price had been made NSPCC ambassador, there would have been uproar. It would never have happened. She is a mess, as is MB, a pornified mess, who says the wrong thing and is arrogant as all hell. And yet here we are, lies, fake news, half news, defending a pornified version of women, with dodgy ideals, no idea of safeguarding, just because no one dare say no anymore.

I knew about Saville, I am sure I have told this story before. He was a regular at the hospital where my Gran volunteered. He was opening the summer fete and as a young teen I was desperate to go see him. My Gran said 'you will not anywhere near that man'. This was early 70s, everyone knew what he was. Yes it was the Grans protecting the children.

JackyHolyoake · 15/06/2019 08:20

Well, that is a very finely honed piece of writing ... thank you Janice.

Your controlled rage brings out the very best in you. Flowers

joystir59 · 15/06/2019 08:22

Both the left and the right are dominated by men. But the left's policies are less harmful to women and children than the right's

MeltedEggMum · 15/06/2019 08:23

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.👏👏👏👏

chickendrizzlecake · 15/06/2019 08:26

Yup to every word.

Spot on article.

Thank you for sharing.

Datun · 15/06/2019 08:27

But what if a heavily made-up little girl danced semi-clad in a straight sports bar? Both sexualise children.

Can you imagine? There would be instant, and deafening, outrage.

A rainbow flag is not a fig-leaf.

Exactly. Safeguarding isn't transphobic and criticising pisswanking gimp man isn't homophonic. Words which are becoming a joke.

Janice is fuming.

Thank you, Janice.

Ifonlyus · 15/06/2019 08:30

Excellent. I shall buy the Times today. Just wish she didn't write for a paper hidden behind a paywal. Can't they make some of it open access?
