Use of trans identified male as opposed to transwoman.

happydappy2 · 14/06/2019 18:07

MNHQ There has been much written recently about how the controlling of the words we use, is very misleading. Many women reject the word transwoman as it can be misunderstood. In light of this, would you reconsider yr guidelines that Trans Identified Male can not be used? It would seem a more factually accurate description of a human male who presents in a stereotypically female way. Thank you.

Is that allowing women to deny their homophobia and sexism

No, what you just said will probably be DARVO or something

DecomposingComposers · 16/06/2019 19:38

It is not possible to transition to being a woman.

They are transitioning to a transwoman.

LimeKiwi · 16/06/2019 19:39

This

DecomposingComposers · 16/06/2019 19:43

No, what you just said will probably be DARVO or something

Oh, of course, silly me.

S1naidSucks · 16/06/2019 19:43

In that case, what’s a transwoman? Btw, are you aware that the new way of writing it is trans woman, to fit in with black woman, disabled woman, etc. If you type it like that then you will be considered transphobic. You’re actually trying to encourage us to use ‘transphobic’ language, so you’re actually wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️

PencilsInSpace · 16/06/2019 19:44

I'm still yay on lifting of restricted terminology.

Jus' sayin'.

Yes, big yay from me too.

PencilsInSpace · 16/06/2019 19:45

I’m already on MN for myself, I see these threads, I have an opinion, so I comment, why is that such a terrible thing?

Because it's pointless and it wastes our energy.

DecomposingComposers · 16/06/2019 19:46

In that case, what’s a transwoman

Earlywalker has posted the definition about 4 times now.

LimeKiwi · 16/06/2019 19:47

Btw, are you aware that the new way of writing it is trans woman, to fit in with black woman

OK, did not know that, I do now so will now write it as trans woman.
See, that's the difference. If I'm told something's offensive to a group, I'll stop saying it.
Not "no it's not offensive, I'm going to carry on saying it anyway" like some do

Justhadathought · 16/06/2019 19:47

How can a transwoman not be a transwoman? Transwoman is a word that describes this transition

This thread is to discuss what terminology we feel comfortable with. We no longer feel comfortable with the 'woman' part.

Did you really think that flooding this thread and others with such posts was going to achieve something, other than to annoy the hell out people. People such as myself who have attempted on multiple occasions to be reasonable and considerate towards you. You didn't care; and as a result you lost all good will

Sometimes you need to know when to back off. Unfortunately, the radical trans movement is incapable of recognising that - as it pushes and pushes and makes ever more unreasonable and ridiculous demands.

You are the part of the problem, and part of the reason why people feel as strongly as they do here.

S1naidSucks · 16/06/2019 19:47

Earlywalker has posted the definition about 4 times now. my mistake. Sorry. But I’m still trying to work out why you insist on pushing a terminology that is now considered transphobic?

Justhadathought · 16/06/2019 19:49

They are your definitions. We don't accept them.

Only a fool keeps repeating the same mistakes, when in full possession of the facts.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/06/2019 19:49

A transwoman by definition means: a (male) who emotionally and psychologically believes they belong to the opposite sex (female)

Two issues:

  1. That definition defines the existing state - it is not something that is transitioned too.
  1. Again, the word transwomen is contentious as it appropriates "woman" and applies it to a man.
LimeKiwi · 16/06/2019 19:49

Because it's pointless and it wastes our energy

Grin Having a different opinion like Early and Decomposer means it's a terrible thing to comment as it's pointless and wastes people's energy?
Ookay, that's a new one, I wonder why on earth people think you (general you) want an echo chamber and no differing opinions lol if that's the case!

S1naidSucks · 16/06/2019 19:50

OK, did not know that, I do now so will now write it as trans woman.

Did you seriously not know that? So you know very little about language that is acceptable for me who identify as trans, yet you’re telling us that WE are wrong? Does that not give you a hint that YOU may be wrong?

LimeKiwi · 16/06/2019 19:51

They are your definitions. We don't accept them

So why do people keep repeatedly asking for definitions then as if they aren't there when all along you mean you can see them but just don't accept them?

Earlywalker · 16/06/2019 19:52

It’s not my definition it’s the dictionary definition. Just like AHF.

DecomposingComposers · 16/06/2019 19:53

They are your definitions

No, they are the dictionary definitions, you know like when you post the dictionary definition of a woman? So, you accept the dictionary definition of a woman but not of a trans woman?

We don't accept them

Yes, you don't seem to accept other groups not accepting dictionary definitions do you?

LimeKiwi · 16/06/2019 19:54

Does that not give you a hint that YOU may be wrong?

I've just said if it's offensive I will desist as I didn't know.
As I said, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong and I won't say it anymore. Not sure where you're getting that I don't have a hint it's wrong when I've just said the exact opposite to what you're accusing me of Confused
Why are you ignoring the rest of what I said? Why do people keep saying something if they know it is offensive?

S1naidSucks · 16/06/2019 19:56

men who identify as trans
Not me! 😁

Earlywalker · 16/06/2019 19:57

They are your definitions. We don't accept them. Only a fool keeps repeating the same mistakes, when in full possession of the facts.

The irony of this post.

LimeKiwi · 16/06/2019 19:58

The irony of this post

Amazing really

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 16/06/2019 20:11

they are transitioning to transwomen

Great

What sex are transwomen? When we’re talking about safeguarding, where people’s sex is very important, what sex should we talk about when considering transwomen?

LimeKiwi · 16/06/2019 20:15

What sex are transwomen? When we’re talking about safeguarding, where people’s sex is very important, what sex should we talk about when considering transwomen?

You know really that they are biologically male, is that supposed to be some sort of gotcha?
Don't think anyone has said differently.
I don't see why trans women have to be repeatedly denied being "allowed" to be a woman though.

Earlywalker · 16/06/2019 20:20

Calling someone a transwoman does not deny they are biologically Male.
